I stiffly retracted my smile and said, "I waited for you for so long and didn’t see you come back. Just now, I was thinking about going to find you but was afraid of getting separated from you."
"Fortunately, you silly woman didn’t go out; you definitely wouldn’t have found your way back. At that point, I'd have to waste effort looking for you," Nine Charm replied in his usual teasing tone.
Although I really didn't want to admit it, what he said was indeed the truth, and I had no way to argue against it. I already felt guilty towards him.

Nine Charm shook his head, looking puzzled with his brows furrowed.

Perhaps I liked Nine Charm—not in the way one likes a prisoner or how Silver Moon liked me. Instead, it was a clean, transparent feeling of ease, along with a sense of reliance that came from deep within my soul.
"Nine Charm, be my brother." I don't know why those words suddenly came out.
Nine Charm's body trembled as he abruptly turned around, raised his left hand, and struck my head hard, shouting, "Who wants to be the brother of a foolish woman like you!"
His movements were swift, and I didn't even have time to react. Ignoring the pain in my head, I pouted and said, "If you don't want to, then don't. Why get so angry?" I felt quite wronged inside.
I chose not to speak again on the way, as it seemed anything I said would be wrong. I just couldn't understand why Nine Charm looked down on me so much.
"We've arrived." Nine Charm released my hand and stood aside.
I didn't bring up what had just happened and focused on the place Nine Charm was pointing to.

Unexpectedly, this remark successfully provoked Nine Charm's anger again.

I was taken aback. Why had Nine Charm become so strange and quick to ignite? As he stepped closer, I instinctively took a step back. In my panic, I stumbled and fell backward, hitting the back of my head against the wall with a loud thud.
Only then did Nine Charm seem to realize he had overreacted. He reached out his hand toward me but suddenly froze, staring intently behind me.
Confused, I looked at Nine Charm. Given the situation, surely he could let go of his anger now. Just as I was about to speak to him, he quietly said uncertainly, "Xi Meng, it's open."
