Since that day when I spoke with Flower Tears, I have grown increasingly suspicious of the shrine. I clearly sensed that the Life Stone we were searching for was inside, but it was surrounded by a very evil aura. Therefore, I planned to secretly investigate the shrine and the so-called "divine beast" within. 0

Having been at Bai Residence, where people from Holy Spirit Village were everywhere, it was difficult to find an opportunity to go to the shrine. However, today, the opportunity arose. 0

Today was the most important day for Holy Spirit Village: the ancestral worship ceremony. 0

This made me understand why it was called Holy Soul; indeed, there was a bloodline connected to the divine realm. However, there were still some things that confused me, such as the sacrifices made to the divine beast, the villagers' hatred towards White Soul, and White Soul's mother. I never expected this small village to be full of mysteries. 0

The people of Holy Spirit Village followed White Clan Leader to the shrine, leaving only a few of us at Bai Residence. There was really no need for anyone to stay behind; there was nothing here worth coveting. 0

I shared my thoughts with Flower Tears, and she also felt that the shrine was an important breakthrough. I did not tell Silver Moon and the others; first, it would make us a larger target, and second, there might be dangers involved. 0

Nodding at Flower Tears, I quietly followed the group from Holy Spirit Village to the shrine. 0

Usually, people from Holy Spirit Village rarely went out; on the streets, you would only see a few scattered individuals. They were not very warm towards each other, except for showing respect to White Clan Leader. 0

Now, however, it was quite rare to see hundreds of people gathered together in such a grand scene. 0

White Clan Leader and several elders of apparent status stood not far from the shrine. One by one, clan members approached to place offerings and incense burners before retreating. Then White Clan Leader raised his right hand, and everyone knelt down together. 0

"Ancestors, do you really want to abandon your descendants?" The clan leader spoke hoarsely, emphasizing his sorrow. Perhaps due to his injuries from that day not having healed yet, he appeared much more haggard after just a few days. 0

"Ancestors, ancestors, please save us." 0

"Divine beast, show mercy; divine beast, show mercy." 0

The clan members behind him also cried out in despair. Many women who looked like they were already married raised their voices in a haunting wail that sent chills down one's spine. For a moment, this place felt overwhelmingly desolate. 0

What happened here? 0

Never mind, there's no time to think about that. Now is a good opportunity. 0

Glancing at the sorrowful tribespeople, I quickly entered through the back window I had been eyeing for a while. 0

This window seemed to have not been opened for a long time, creaking with an old "creak" that echoed in the empty shrine. 0

The first floor was nothing special, just a high platform filled with Spirit Tablets and some simple decorations. 0

I slowly made my way to the second floor, which felt like a maze. After wandering around for quite a while, I still couldn't find the stairs leading to the third floor. Damn it, I couldn't even find the entrance! I clearly marked it; could someone have moved it? 0

Impossible, I'm the only one here! 0

"Be careful wandering around like that; you might never get out," a teasing voice came from behind me, so familiar. 0

"Yue!" 0

"I knew you wouldn't be able to sit still," Silver Moon said, shaking his head in exasperation. 0

"What are you doing here?" 0

"What's wrong? Just because you didn't tell me doesn't mean I can't come here," Silver Moon replied, sounding like a petulant child. It was the first time I had heard him speak like this. 0

"Of course not. I was just worried about potential dangers, so I came to check it out first," I said with a smile as I walked up to him. 0

Suddenly, Silver Moon's expression turned serious. "You know there's danger, so I'm worried about your safety too." 0

I was taken aback and sighed. "Yue, I know I was wrong." I lowered my head, feeling too shy to look at him. 0

Yin Yue remained silent. Was he angry? He had never scolded me like this before. 0

I cautiously raised my head and didn't say anything. 0

After a moment, he softly said, "Give me your hand." His voice was gentle, and without thinking, I tightly grasped his hand. 0

It was cool, and it felt somewhat unusual. 0

He walked ahead, pulling me along without stopping. As we turned and walked, we discovered a staircase leading to the third floor. He slowly let go of my hand. 0

Yin Yue had never been here before. How did he know how to navigate this maze? It was just a fleeting doubt; I didn't think much of it and quickly ascended the stairs. I was almost there; all the answers were inside. 0

Suddenly, a loud shout rang out, "Xi Meng, be careful!" 0

What was happening?! 0

I felt a pair of hands suddenly pull me back forcefully, blocking me quickly. When I realized what was happening, only a figure stood in front of me. 0

"Yue, how did you get here? Didn't we go up the stairs together?" 0

"What are you talking about, Xi Meng? Do you know that if I had arrived just one step later, you would have—" Yin Yue shouted angrily, his voice trembling by the end. 0

"Yue, what's wrong?" I asked softly. I truly didn't understand why he was angry. 0

"Just look for yourself." Yin Yue took a deep breath. 0

I leaned to the side to look in front of Yin Yue. 0

Oh my god! 0

Not far away, there was a Flame Pool, bubbling and emitting a foul stench, reminiscent of decaying corpses. 0

How could this be? I felt a wave of fear. 0

"If I'm not mistaken, you've been deceived by an illusion." 0

"An illusion? Like the one in Dream City?" 0

"No, that merely confuses the mind, but here, it truly seeks your life." 0

"I haven't seen anyone else on my way here; there's no way they could have attacked me." Although my strength hadn't reached its peak, at least my vigilance wasn't that weak. 0

"You are mistaken. This shrine is covered by a barrier, which means that as soon as you stepped inside, you fell into their trap." 0

"Is it the White Clan Leader?" 0

Yin Yue frowned and shook her head. "No, this power is definitely not theirs." 0

Then who exists within this shrine? 0

"Is it a divine beast?" I exclaimed. 0

"Perhaps." 0

"What should we do?" 0

"Let's go back for now. Once the illusion is broken, I don't think it will appear again." 0

"Okay." Sigh, what else can we do? Let's head back. 0

I remained silent, my head hanging low, feeling quite miserable. I had thought I could discover something, but I nearly lost my life instead. 0

"Alright, Xi Meng, I know you're afraid of danger, but at least you should discuss it with me. This illusion is powerful; it arises from the deepest desires of the heart, and one careless move could cost you your life." 0

"I understand," I replied softly. 0

"However, with your current strength, how could you be so easily deceived? What did you see?" 0

"I—" My heart skipped a beat. I saw Silver Moon. In that maze, I saw you reaching out your hand to me. 0

Oh my God, I think I'm going crazy. I need to rest properly. 0

Silver Moon looked at me gently, smiling slightly. 0

I really didn't know how to respond. 0

"Hehe, did my serious tone scare you earlier? You know, no matter what you do, I will never blame or reproach you, Xi Meng." 0

Yes, Silver Moon will always be Silver Moon, so kind to me and never blaming me... 0
