Ye Wu slowly sat down, his complexion looking quite poor, pale and weak. Gradually, sweat began to bead on his forehead, a rare occurrence for someone like him.
“Brother Tiger, don’t be like this. If there’s something, you should speak up. We can share the burden together. Seeing you like this makes Brothers feel uneasy,” Little Four said somewhat awkwardly. Beside him, Abiao and Chen Yilong couldn’t help but show disdain towards Little Four.
Ye Wu sat quietly for about the time it takes to brew a cup of tea before he absentmindedly said, “Juanzi had a car accident in Hong Kong and passed away. Good riddance, good riddance.” As he spoke, Ye Wu stood up, ignoring the others and went upstairs alone. The three remaining in the hall exchanged glances, momentarily at a loss for what to do.
In the villa at Ye Cheng Suburb, Eight Elders, Teapot Lid, and Brother Dong were discussing last night’s events. Fei Hu had risen early that morning; he first exercised in the yard before quickly returning to his room. Even breakfast was brought to him by Yingzi. He felt somewhat unaccustomed to this; now that he was the eldest brother, everyone in the villa treated him with utmost respect, even the elderly Eight Elders, who greeted him one by one. Only when he was alone with Yingzi did he feel relaxed.
While Fei Hu and Yingzi were chatting casually, Sister Wu suddenly rushed in with a panicked expression. As soon as she entered, she exclaimed, “You all need to go downstairs quickly; there’s been a Major Incident. Ye Wei has been arrested, and Sheng Wei is in chaos.” Her words indeed startled both Fei Hu and Yingzi, who immediately hurried downstairs without a second thought.
In the living room on the first floor, everyone was talking over each other, clearly surprised by the sudden turn of events. When Fei Hu appeared, they stopped arguing and quietly awaited his remarks. Although the Shengwei Group was managed by Ye Wei, it was still part of the Dragon Tiger Gang, so Fei Hu had absolute authority.
“Everyone stay calm. Yingzi, go to the school immediately and bring Ye Xiaofei back. She needs to rectify things at Sheng Wei. As for the arrest of Ye Wei, don’t panic. From what I know, many of his actions were personal and do not represent Sheng Wei. The government will definitely clarify this matter. Next, we need to hold a shareholders’ meeting right away to remove Ye Wei from his position as chairman and reclaim his shares to compensate for his losses to the company.” In just a few sentences, every word from Fei Hu made sense and impressed those present. They had thought that Fei Hu could only fight but didn’t expect him to be competent in management as well.
In fact, whenever he had free time, Fei Hu would ponder matters related to Sheng Wei. He had long been prepared for this situation. After listening, Ye Cheng nodded slightly and smiled as he said, “Very good; it’s even more comprehensive than I expected. Everyone prepare yourselves; this must be executed this afternoon. A new senior management team for Sheng Wei must be established immediately.” With Fei Hu’s statement and Ye Cheng’s affirmation, this matter was firmly decided.
Ye Xiaofei was picked up from school by Yingzi and upon entering the company’s doors felt a mix of emotions—joys and sorrows intertwined with unexplainable regret and resentment. Walking alongside her, Yingzi said lightly with a smile, “You have a heavy burden upon your return; immediate restructuring is necessary. First, we need to replace the security team leader with Team Leader Wang. Second, we need to change the head of human resources, Miss Li. You can decide on that one yourself. Thirdly, we must convene a board meeting immediately.”
“Whose arrangement is this?” asked Ye Xiaofei, somewhat puzzled.
With a slight smile, Yingzi replied, “It’s grandpa’s; who else could it be?” In fact, these instructions were given by Fei Hu, who had already thoroughly understood the internal workings of Sheng Wei. To move against its management team, these two individuals needed to be dealt with first; otherwise, unrest would ensue.
Though puzzled by Yingzi’s words, Ye Xiaofei didn’t delve deeper into it because she currently lacked the energy to consider such matters. The urgent priority was stabilizing the morale within Sheng Wei.
In the Guard Room, a group of security personnel huddled together, whispering among themselves. They were clearly discussing the sudden turn of events regarding Sheng Wei and the unexpected appearance of Ye Xiaofei, which left them stunned. A few of them turned and ran, causing chaos in the Guard Room.
"Stop running! All security personnel gather in one hour, close all company exits, and stand at the main entrance. This matter will be handled by Team Leader Wang," Ye Xiaofei said, glancing at the security staff and wondering why she did not see the head of security.
As soon as Ye Xiaofei entered her office, she immediately called for a meeting in the conference room. Since she had been both an Executive President and a student while away from the company, no one dared to ignore her orders.
The large conference room was filled with over a hundred people, creating an overwhelming atmosphere. Accompanied by Yingzi, Ye Xiaofei sat at the head of the table. After a brief opening statement, she quickly announced personnel changes, dismissing Miss Li, the head of Human Resources. Her decisive actions shocked everyone present.
Her subsequent remarks further unsettled everyone in attendance. "As you all know, there has been an incident involving Sheng Wei. To be precise, it is Ye Wei who is in trouble, not Sheng Wei. I hope everyone will work hard. If anyone intends to take advantage of this situation, please leave immediately. I will be adjusting the management team in the coming days. Those who wish to stay must work diligently. Let me give you a heads-up: this afternoon's board meeting will remove Ye Wei from his position as chairman and reclaim his shares."
As soon as Ye Xiaofei finished speaking, those who were usually close to Ye Wei changed their expressions dramatically. Everyone realized that a significant shift was occurring within Sheng Wei, and it seemed that adjusting their mindset would be necessary if they wanted to continue working here.
As lunchtime approached, dozens of security personnel stood outside the entrance of Shengwei Company under the blazing sun, lined up obediently without daring to speak. They understood that major changes were happening within the company and that they could easily find themselves out of a job.
The head of security stood outside the line, shaking his head in disbelief as he muttered to himself, "In this scorching sun, making everyone stand here is just ridiculous."
At noon, all company staff began their meals while only the security personnel remained standing under the hot sun in silence. They did not dare to leave their posts. The head of security glanced at the office building and mockingly said to Team Leader Wang, "If you like standing so much, then just stay here quietly; I'm going to eat."
After he left, Ye Xiaofei emerged from the elevator accompanied by Yingzi and Miss He, the newly appointed head of Human Resources. Upon seeing her, the security personnel immediately straightened up, fearing that any improper stance would draw her attention and cost them their jobs.
Ye Xiaofei approached the entrance and looked at the sweating security guards with some satisfaction as she said, "I am very pleased with everyone's performance today. Please listen carefully: starting today, you must work hard on your responsibilities; the company will not treat you unfairly. I hereby announce a new appointment: Team Leader Wang is promoted to head of security and will be responsible for all security operations."
As soon as her announcement was made, applause erupted from everyone present. Perhaps sensing something unusual was happening, the head of security rushed over while wiping his mouth in haste and asked Ye Xiaofei eagerly, "Miss Ye, if Team Leader Wang takes over my position, what will happen to my job?"
"Miss He, as soon as you start work this afternoon, handle his resignation procedures," Ye Xiaofei said without even bothering to look at the security captain.
Upon hearing this, the security captain's expression changed dramatically. He glared at Ye Xiaofei and said, "Don't be too ruthless. It's still uncertain who calls the shots here. Don't come crying when it backfires." He looked like a complete rogue.
"Captain Wang, take him to the Guard Room and don't let him make a scene here," Ye Xiaofei said impatiently.
The security captain, upon hearing this, took off his large hat and shouted, "You think just because you tell me to leave, I will? Dream on! You owe me money. I've been working here for almost three years. If you don't pay me, there's no way I'm leaving."
As he spoke, he lunged at Ye Xiaofei like an enraged dog. But he was mistaken; Yingzi, who had been standing silently beside Ye Xiaofei, could no longer stand by. She reached out and grabbed the security captain's wrist. With a slight exertion of force, he became compliant. He looked at Yingzi in disbelief and then followed Team Leader Wang into the Guard Room. A few quick-witted security guards realized what was happening; they certainly hadn't expected that Yingzi was a hidden expert.
Things went much smoother than anticipated. That afternoon, Ye Xiaofei presided over a shareholders' meeting where all shareholders unanimously voted to remove Ye Wei from the position of chairman. They also drafted an agreement to reclaim the shares held by Ye Wei. During the meeting, the shareholders elected Ye Xiaofei as the new chairman of Sheng Wei and also appointed him as Executive President. This meant that Ye Xiaofei was now in full control and proposed an immediate audit while publicly disclosing financial figures to the entire board.
By the time the meeting concluded, it was already past eight in the evening. Throughout the afternoon, Yingzi had been with Ye Xiaofei. In such extraordinary times, one must be exceptionally cautious; this was Fei Hu's arrangement for Yingzi. Ye Xiaofei was completely unaware of this, even regarding Fei Hu becoming her grandfather's successor—a matter so significant that Fei Hu hadn't even let Yingzi inform her.
When Ye Xiaofei and Yingzi returned to the villa together, the emptiness inside made Ye Xiaofei feel something was off because she only saw a few idle maids while her grandfather and Sister Wu had not shown their faces since she entered the house.
Ye Xiaofei anxiously asked Yingzi, "What exactly is going on? Where have Grandpa and Sister Wu gone?"
"They went to the countryside. Recently, Ye Wu has been causing trouble, so Grandpa suggested temporarily avoiding it," Yingzi replied verbatim according to Fei Hu's instructions.
Just then, chaotic footsteps were heard outside the villa's main door. Upon hearing this, Yingzi's face changed instantly.
