Santana slowly stopped beside Fei Hu. The old man and another man got out of the car, laughing heartily. Fei Hu, filled with doubts, quietly asked, "What's going on? It can't be that there's a problem with the amount of cash, right? You came to find me."
"Hahaha. It's nothing, young man. We can't thank you enough. How could we possibly trouble you again?" The old man's laughter was loud and resonant, completely different from before.
Just as Fei Hu was feeling confused, Ye Cheng, Yingzi, Teapot Lid, and four or five elderly men with snow-white hair came out of the villa, embracing each other. As they walked, Ye Cheng smiled and asked, "Elder Yao, was I wrong?"
"Not at all! My brother is indeed extraordinary. He has a keen eye for people. This young man is truly a rare talent. He is compassionate and not greedy for money. We should all support him," the old man said with great excitement.
Fei Hu was completely bewildered by these people's reactions. What was going on? How did they know each other? This was too coincidental. Just as he was trying to make sense of it all, Ye Cheng approached him, patted his shoulder, and said with a smile, "This is Elder Yao from our Dragon Tiger Gang. So we're all on the same side here. It's not convenient to talk out here; let's go inside."
"Same side?" Fei Hu was even more confused now. Inside the hall, there were people sitting and standing everywhere. Ye Cheng took a seat in the middle, and Fei Hu noticed that four elderly men sat beside him, all appearing to be over sixty but full of energy and vitality. Elder Yao, who had been in his car earlier, looked particularly spirited.
"A-Dong, how's the setup outside?" Ye Cheng suddenly asked.
Brother Dong stood up and replied loudly, "Don't worry, brother. I've stationed our people a kilometer away. As soon as any suspicious person enters our sight, we'll know immediately."
"Very good. Fei Hu, come over here; I want to introduce you to our Eight Elders from Dragon Tiger Gang," Ye Cheng said with a smile as he waved at Fei Hu.
Fei Hu steeled himself and walked over. He had seen many things in life, but this was his first experience in such a gathering. There were so many people, and the eight elders sitting with Ye Cheng seemed amiable but still exuded an invisible pressure.
"This is Elder Yao; you've already met him. He is the head of these eight elders. Over here is Elder Chen, Elder Master, and Elder Ouyang..." Ye Cheng introduced each elder to Fei Hu one by one. Faced with these elders, Fei Hu could only nod and bow respectfully. However, the elders treated him well in return, each clasping their fists in greeting.
"Please help Token!" Ye Cheng called out loudly.
The hall fell silent in an instant. Everyone stood up, and it was very orderly. Eight elders stood in two rows on either side, with Ye Cheng in the center. The rest of the people formed more than ten lines, with both men and women of varying ages. Even someone of Brother Dong's status could only stand at the front of the second row. Fei Hu found it strange that Teapot Lid was not among these people; he stood solemnly beside Fei Hu.
With the sound of footsteps, Sister Wu walked down the stairs, holding a yellow box in her arms. Yingzi followed her like a maid. Sister Wu approached Ye Cheng and handed him the yellow box. Ye Cheng received it respectfully and raised it high, loudly proclaiming, "Salute to the Help Token!"
With a rustle, everyone in the room bowed deeply. Only Fei Hu stood there foolishly, at a loss.
"With the ceremony concluded," Ye Cheng called out again after the bowing was complete, placing the yellow box on the table behind him. The eight elders sat down on either side, while the others stood straight and still, not daring to move. Everyone's expression was serious, as if they were very concerned about this matter. At this moment, Tea Lid finally sat down on a chair beside Sister Wu, while Yingzi had somehow moved to stand behind Fei Hu.
Ye Cheng nodded to Elder Yao, who stood up with his hands clasped in front of him and addressed everyone loudly: "Brothers and sisters of the Dragon Tiger Gang, our leader Ye Cheng is getting older. In order to revitalize our sect's continued development, he will pass on the position of leader to this young brother Fei Hu. From the moment he takes over the sect token, he will be our new leader of the Dragon Tiger Gang. Therefore, you must obey his leadership. Anyone who offends or disrespects him will be dealt with according to our gang rules."
Upon hearing this, Fei Hu trembled all over. This was happening too quickly; in the blink of an eye, he had become the leader of the Dragon Tiger Gang. He wasn't mentally prepared for this at all. This was too arbitrary! Fei Hu felt somewhat uneasy but could only remain silent in such a situation.
Most of the people standing in the hall had never met Fei Hu before, so when Elder Yao said this, they couldn't help but feel confused.
Elder Yao paused for a moment before continuing: "This brother Fei Hu has undergone a year-long assessment by our leader and has passed our Eight Elders' scrutiny. He is fully capable of taking on the position of leader of the Dragon Tiger Gang. Therefore, we Eight Elders and our leader have unanimously agreed that from now on, Fei Hu will be our leader. Please accept the Help Token."
What does this mean? Fei Hu was still bewildered when Ye Cheng stood up and raised the yellow box behind him. Should he accept it or not? Just as Fei Hu hesitated, Yingzi suddenly stepped forward. She pressed down on Fei Hu's shoulders with both hands and quickly stepped on his knees. Since all of Fei Hu's attention was focused on Ye Cheng, Yingzi's ambush succeeded; he unexpectedly knelt on the ground. By the time he realized what was happening, it was too late—Yingzi's hands were like two mountains pressing firmly on his shoulders.
Fei Hu moved a couple of times but couldn't get up. Ye Cheng gently opened the yellow box and extended it toward Fei Hu. When Fei Hu looked closely, he saw that it contained something resembling a military token—entirely red and yellow and about the size of a thumb, shaped like a dragon entwined around a tiger. Upon closer inspection, it turned out to be a dragon coiled around a tiger, crafted with exquisite detail.
Ye Cheng lightly flicked his finger and held the Help Token in his hand. Only then did Fei Hu notice that there was a yellow silk cord threaded through the bottom of the Help Token; it seemed that whoever designed this item had put considerable thought into it.
Just as Fei Hu was captivated by this sight, Ye Cheng reached out and hung the Help Token around Fei Hu's neck. Then he bent down to help Fei Hu up before turning him to face everyone. At that moment, including the Eight Elders and Ye Cheng as well as everyone else in the hall, they all clasped their fists together and almost simultaneously shouted in unison: "We greet you, Leader!"
This scene played out like a movie. Fei Hu stared blankly, momentarily at a loss. It was Yingzi who was quick-witted. She gently pushed Fei Hu from behind. Fei Hu suddenly came to his senses and hurriedly clasped his fists in greeting to everyone. Although his movements were a bit clumsy, they were still passable. Just like that, Fei Hu found himself becoming the leader of the Dragon Tiger Gang. He felt as if he were dreaming.
Ye Cheng offered Fei Hu the seat in the center and sat beside him. Ye Cheng stroked his white beard and chuckled, "This is the largest meeting we've held in recent years at the Dragon Tiger Gang. Due to the complex situation outside, this gathering has been somewhat rushed and a bit shabby. However, once everything stabilizes, we will hold a grand celebration to honor our new leader's inauguration. In a moment, Elder Yao will announce some personnel changes and new regulations within the gang."
Indeed, one would be shocked upon seeing it. Fei Hu thought that the Dragon Tiger Gang was just a name, but he didn't realize there were so many regulations within the gang. It seemed that the Dragon Tiger Gang was not just for show. Fei Hu couldn't help but feel a surge of excitement; he was now the leader of the Dragon Tiger Gang.
Elder Yao took out a prepared booklet and announced loudly, "All executives of the gang, listen up! It has been decided to dismiss Ye Wu and Ye Wei from their positions as chief executives of the Dragon Tiger Gang. They will be replaced by A-Dong and our newly recruited elder, Teapot Lid. From now on, all executives will be led by our new leader. New reform measures will be introduced one after another and communicated indirectly through the chief executives."
After Elder Yao finished speaking, the other seven elders had prepared speeches as well—some managing finances and others handling personnel matters. This truly opened Fei Hu's eyes, and he suddenly felt the heavy burden on his shoulders.
The meeting continued until after ten o'clock at night, with various new proposals being introduced. Fei Hu hadn't expected that he rarely saw these people before; they had been working behind the scenes for the Dragon Tiger Gang. The atmosphere was indeed somewhat intimidating.
Once the conference concluded, under the consensus of several elders, Fei Hu led a team straight to the West Suburb Wholesale Market. This area had previously been managed by Brother Dong, but recently, due to aggressive territorial grabs by Ye Wu, Brother Dong had retreated to preserve their strength.
At midnight, nearly all businesses in the West Suburb Wholesale Market had closed their doors. Only at four main entrances and one shop in the center were lights still on. A group of young men with yellow hair were drinking and playing cards inside. Little did they know that danger was already closing in on them.
Brother Dong selected over fifty capable young men to accompany him and Teapot Lid, marching boldly through the West Suburb Wholesale Market. Upon seeing something amiss, several yellow-haired guards sprinted toward the market interior.
Though over sixty years old, Teapot Lid walked with vigor like a young man. When they set out that night, Fei Hu insisted he shouldn't come along, but as chief executive of the Dragon Tiger Gang, he refused to back down. Eventually, after persuasion from several elders, Fei Hu reluctantly agreed to let him join but made it clear that he should not take charge in any situation.
With a cane in hand, Teapot Lid moved swiftly and almost outpaced the younger men. At that moment, as they reached halfway into the market, a sudden shout rang out from behind: "Stop!" The voice echoed eerily in the dead of night.
