Aunt glanced at Ye Wu's surprised expression, stood up, and patted Ye Wu on the shoulder, saying, "You should head back first! Wait for our call. But you need to have your subordinates continue searching for Fei Hu. Even if they can't catch him, they need to make it look like they're trying, understand?"
Ye Wu slowly nodded. This aunt was clearly playing a diversionary tactic. This woman was indeed clever; when it came to thinking and doing things, he was half a beat slower than her. However, he needed to be cautious when cooperating with someone like her; otherwise, he might find himself in trouble without knowing why.
After waking up naturally from a deep sleep, Fei Hu realized he hadn't even changed out of his clothes or taken off his shoes. It would be a lie to say he wasn't tired. As he stretched comfortably and turned over to get up, he was startled by Yingzi, who was looking out the window at the scenery. Fei Hu asked in surprise, "When did you come in? Don't you know there's a difference between men and women?" He made a funny face at Yingzi as he spoke.
"Please! With you looking like that, do you think you're some handsome guy? I couldn't be bothered to look at you again. Everyone else is up and about this morning, doing what they need to do. I noticed you were still quiet, so I pushed the door open and found it didn't make a sound. Seeing your sleeping posture, I thought something had happened to you. I didn't expect you to be this worn out," Yingzi said, glancing at Fei Hu with a hint of affection.
That glance felt like a warm spring breeze to Fei Hu, refreshing him completely. He hurried to the bathroom to wash his face and then sat across from Yingzi, softly asking, "Yingzi, our relationship doesn't need me to elaborate on. Can you tell me whether I should take over as the big brother? I'm too close to the situation to see clearly; I need your advice."
Yingzi looked at Fei Hu and sighed, "I think you should take it over, no matter which angle you consider. The Dragon Tiger Gang has too many members without anyone stepping up to lead. If someone like Ye Wu takes advantage of this situation, it could pose a significant threat to society. Besides, you've already been drawn into this mess; if you want to continue making a name for yourself in City A, you must take on the role of big brother. Trust me on this. But we shouldn't be overly optimistic."
"What's wrong? Could it be..." Fei Hu asked in confusion. In his mind, wasn't this already a done deal?
Yingzi stood up with a slight smile and said, "The Dragon Tiger Gang is a large organization where everything is decided by the big brother. However, when it comes time for succession, the Eight Elders will appear. They will conduct a series of evaluations on whoever the big brother nominates; if any criteria are not met, then that's that. So it's not just about what Grandpa says; of course, you have to be willing first."
So there was this aspect as well. Fei Hu suddenly felt a sense of loss; he had thought that once Ye Cheng publicly announced it, he would become the big brother of the Dragon Tiger Gang right away. He paced back and forth in the room with his hands behind his back and suddenly remembered Bald Zhang. He hadn't answered his calls last night and wasn't responding today either—what did that mean?
Fei Hu dialed Bald Zhang's number again but still got no answer. An ominous feeling crept into his heart as he stared at his phone without saying anything for quite some time.
Yingzi walked over and gently patted Fei Hu's shoulder, asking softly, "What's wrong? Who are you calling?"
"Bald Zhang! No one has answered since last night; could something have happened to him?" Fei Hu looked up at Yingzi with urgency in his eyes.
Yingzi glanced at Fei Hu and said softly, "I'll tell you the actual situation, but you can't panic or act recklessly. Just the night before last, Ye Wu gathered his subordinates and caused trouble at New World. The commotion was too loud and attracted the police's attention; Bald Zhang and several of Ye Wu's men were all arrested by the police. You accidentally walked right into the trap Ye Wu had set for you because he thought you'd know about this incident and would come seeking revenge. So he sent people there to wait for you but didn't expect to run into you."
"Then why do you keep following me?" Fei Hu asked, a bit confused.
Yingzi rolled her eyes at Fei Hu and said angrily, "Do you think I enjoy following you? Go ahead and be vain! It's Grandpa who analyzed the current situation and found it unfavorable for you, so he asked me to follow you. I didn't expect you to actually have something going on." After saying that, Yingzi made a gesture indicating it was time to eat.
As the two went downstairs, the living room only had Ye Cheng and Sister Wu sitting there. As soon as Sister Wu saw Fei Hu, she smiled and said, "Look how tired you are; I could hear your snoring from the hallway."
Fei Hu smiled awkwardly and sat down next to Ye Cheng. He was a bit surprised and asked, "Where did everyone else go?"
"They all went out to take care of some business. They usually come back in the evening. It's been like this for a while now; they can't return until they finish their tasks," Ye Cheng said as he put down the newspaper he was holding.
Fei Hu nodded, somewhat understanding, then turned to Yingzi and said, "Later, take me to the Overpass intersection; I want to go out for a stroll. I'm exhausted from dealing with this bunch of idiots."
"What? You still want to go out? Don't you think it's noisy enough already?" Yingzi said, giving Fei Hu an annoyed look. However, Fei Hu felt grateful towards her; if she hadn't risked driving through that group of troublemakers last night, he might not know what kind of state he would be in right now.
Ye Cheng chuckled and said to Sister Wu, "Let Fei Hu take A-Dong's car out for a spin! It's right for him to go out; young people can't just stay at home all day." Ye Cheng's open-mindedness made Fei Hu happy; he loved freedom. Was he supposed to never leave just because Ye Wu sent someone to look for him? He was not one to back down easily.
Sister Wu pulled out a large bunch of keys from her pocket, found one key, and tossed it into Fei Hu's arms. "It's the black Q5 parked outside. If you can't find it, let Yingzi help you identify it; there are just too many cars outside."
Fei Hu smiled slightly and followed Yingzi outside. This villa area seemed newly developed, so there weren't many residents yet, which is why Fei Hu had never seen so many cars before. Yingzi pointed to a black Q5 in the corner and said, "This car has fake plates, so you don't need to worry too much when driving it. It may look a bit old, but its performance is excellent."
Fei Hu took the car keys, opened the door, and jumped in. The moment he started the car, he suddenly turned around and asked Yingzi outside the window, "How has Ye Xiaofei been these past few days? Was she scared by what happened that night?"
As Fei Hu settled into the driver's seat, he recalled those wonderful days when he used to drive while Ye Xiaofei was in the passenger seat.
"Scared? Of course she was scared. But she's stronger than I imagined; she recovered quickly. We even talked on the phone the next day; she's doing well, so don't worry about her. Just take care of yourself for now," Yingzi replied before turning back toward the villa.
Having not driven in a while, Fei Hu felt a bit rusty, so he wasn't driving too fast. As he drove along, he thought about how to call Ni Ling and see if she could help get Bald Zhang out first; Fei Hu had experienced what it was like inside.
As the car approached the Overpass exit, it was around the time Ni Ling would be starting work. So Fei Hu thought about meeting her near the police station instead. With his plan set in mind, Fei Hu pressed down on the accelerator, and soon enough, he parked in front of a teahouse called Celebrity Tea Garden.
As soon as Fei Hu entered, a waiter immediately approached him and politely asked, "Welcome, sir. How many guests?"
"Find me a private room for two upstairs," Fei Hu said, glancing around. He had to be cautious; if something happened again, Yingzi wouldn't appear before him like she did last night.
This place was nice. Fei Hu sat by the window and liked it right away. After ordering tea, he began dialing Ni Ling's number. When the call connected, Fei Hu excitedly shouted into the receiver, "Hello, Miss Ni! This is Fei Hu."
"Ha ha! No need to introduce yourself; I know it's you. I'm just curious why this busy person remembered to call me today. Did all the beautiful women around you ignore you, so you thought of me?" Ni Ling joked cheerfully with Fei Hu.
Fei Hu paused for a moment before replying, "You're the busy one; how could I casually call you? However, I do need a favor today. You have to help me out. I'm at Celebrity Tea Garden, not far from your police station. Don't say you're not coming."
After a brief silence on the other end, Ni Ling finally said, "Alright! I'll be there shortly."
Hanging up the phone, Fei Hu felt very happy. He didn't expect such a busy person to agree to meet him so easily; it was truly rare.
About ten minutes later, Ni Ling appeared before Fei Hu in a casual sports outfit. Having not seen her for some time, Fei Hu thought Ni Ling looked even more beautiful, especially with her prominent curves pushing against her shirt. He wondered how he hadn't noticed before that Ni Ling had quite a figure.
"Hey! What are you staring at? Be careful or I might have to handcuff you," Ni Ling joked as she closed the door and sat down across from Fei Hu. He quickly withdrew his gaze, feeling embarrassed and thinking to himself that it was her fault for looking so good; if she were smaller, he wouldn't have looked.
Although Fei Hu's mind was wandering, his hands were quick as he brewed freshly made Longjing tea for both of them. Smiling, he said, "I'm sorry to disturb you when you're so busy, but I really need your help with something."
"Are you here to plead for Bald Zhang? This matter is not negotiable; he might face sentencing," Ni Ling replied. Upon hearing this, Fei Hu's mind went blank, and he nearly fainted.
