Sudden changes took Fei Hu by surprise. It was all his and Yingzi's fault for being a bit careless; they never expected that Abiao would have such fearless subordinates. Yingzi clearly did not anticipate this either. By the time she reacted, the machete was less than ten centimeters from her wrist. It was a moment where anyone would be cautious.
Without thinking too much, Fei Hu exerted all his strength and charged at Yingzi. They were already very close to each other, just a few centimeters apart. The force of Fei Hu's charge sent Yingzi flying to the side, but it was still a moment too late. The knife aimed at her wrist grazed her left hand, and she felt a chill as blood immediately gushed out.
Only then did Fei Hu see clearly that the one who had acted recklessly was a burly man standing in front of Abiao. Because he was standing in a field, there was a height difference between him and the road, allowing him to leap up before striking down.
At the moment the man jumped and began to fall, Fei Hu's right leg swept out like lightning. With a scream, the attacker fell to the ground like a kite with its string cut. Fei Hu's kick landed squarely on his neck, causing him to lose his breath and faint instantly. The two accomplices nearby let out cries that sounded quite tragic.
Injured, Yingzi felt her anger rise. She hugged her left arm to her chest and raised her gun, firing twice at Abiao's feet. The bullets struck the ground with two sharp sounds before disappearing without a trace. Holding the smoking gun, Yingzi said angrily, "Did you think I wouldn't dare to shoot? Or that I wouldn't blow your heads off?" It was then that Fei Hu noticed that Yingzi's gun was equipped with a silencer, which explained why the shots had no explosive sound.
Seeing this, Abiao turned pale and trembled as he said, "This time we admit defeat. Can we leave with our lives? We need to report back to Boss." As he spoke, he gestured to his subordinates nearby. Two of them rushed over eagerly and pulled Ye Xiaofei from the vehicle. She was bound with her hands behind her back and had tape over her mouth.
"Untie her! How can she walk like this?" Upon seeing how Ye Xiaofei was tied up, Fei Hu felt a surge of anger; he wished he could kick Abiao to death right then and there, but given the current situation, he had to suppress his impulses.
With a swift motion, Abiao expertly cut through the ropes binding Ye Xiaofei. She didn't even bother to remove the tape from her mouth; instead, she hurriedly ran towards Yingzi. As soon as Yingzi reached out, she pulled her up from the field onto the road. The henchmen of Abiao, unwilling to let go easily, started moving closer to Ye Xiaofei, but when they met Fei Hu's sharp gaze, they obediently retreated.
At that moment, the man who had been kicked down by Fei Hu let out a painful groan. His companions rushed over to lift him up and put him into the van. Abiao clasped his fists towards Fei Hu, saying, "Please leave your name."
"Deadly Duo" replied Fei Hu casually. This foolish Abiao, wanting a name—fine, I'll give him one.
After hearing this, Abiao muttered it under his breath before jumping into the van. The vehicle roared as it slowly began to move away from the field towards the road.
At this point, Ye Xiaofei finally tore off the tape from her mouth. Her face was pale and she gasped for breath as she said to Yingzi, "Thank you so much! If we meet again in the future, I will definitely repay you. But I can't help but wonder what your motives are for saving me." Clearly, Ye Xiaofei had recognized that it was Yingzi and Fei Hu who saved her; it seemed their disguises were quite effective.
Yingzi glanced at Fei Hu as if seeking his opinion, and Fei Hu silently shook his head. Yingzi chuckled and said, "There's no scheme involved; it just happened to be a coincidence. This isn't the place to talk; we need to leave quickly. If they turn back, we'll be in big trouble."
Ye Xiaofei looked dazed, clearly frightened. Yingzi signaled to Fei Hu, and the two led Ye Xiaofei toward the entrance of a nearby village. In this eerie place, it seemed quite difficult to find a way out.
Upon reaching the village entrance, they saw a black BYD sedan parked there, flashing its lights at them, clearly indicating that the driver was greeting them. Fei Hu hurried over and opened the car door, noticing a young woman in her thirties sitting in the driver's seat. As soon as she saw Fei Hu, she smiled slightly and asked, "Are you hiring a car?"
Fei Hu nodded and replied, "Just a trip around the city; we'll leave right away."
"Alright! But it'll cost one hundred yuan. If we take a longer route, I'll need to charge extra. I have to make that clear upfront; I don't want to argue about fare in the middle of the night," the woman said with a smile, gesturing for Fei Hu to get in.
Fei Hu waved at Yingzi and Ye Xiaofei, and the two women silently got into the car. The female driver glanced back briefly before starting the vehicle. Before long, they were on the main road, and the driver smiled as she asked, "Where are you headed?"
"The most famous Noble School in City A; you must know it," Fei Hu said with a smile.
The driver pressed on the accelerator, and the car sped up. She laughed lightly and said, "Of course I know it! You three must be from that prestigious university; no wonder you all have such an impressive demeanor. Especially you, with your long hair—it's incredibly handsome, even better than Liu Huan's long hair." The woman laughed heartily while Fei Hu felt quite pleased. However, the two women in the back seat remained silent.
After more than twenty minutes, the car gradually came to a stop. Fei Hu raised his head slightly and saw Ye Xiaofei's school right in front of them. He turned his head slightly and whispered to Yingzi, "You take her in; I'll wait here."
Ye Xiaofei finally seemed to awaken from a dream; she excitedly said to Fei Hu, "Thank you so much! I really appreciate it." It was evident that her gratitude was sincere, but under such circumstances, it felt somewhat inadequate.
"Be careful in the future. No matter who approaches you, make sure not to leave campus again. With today's advanced communication tools, you can clarify everything over the phone before deciding whether to step outside," Fei Hu advised Ye Xiaofei in a low and calm tone.
Ye Xiaofei nodded. Her dazed gaze lingered on Fei Hu for a moment, but ultimately she didn't say anything as she got out of the car and followed Yingzi until they reached the school gate. Watching her gradually disappear from view filled him with an overwhelming sense of sorrow; he couldn't help but feel sympathy for Ye Xiaofei's situation.
Once Yingzi got into the car, she instructed the driver to take them to her hotel where she had parked. By the time they returned to the hotel, it was already past one in the morning. As they passed through the lobby, Fei Hu felt an uncomfortable sensation wash over him because he sensed an odd expression on some of the staff's faces. In places like this at such an hour, anything could happen without being surprising.
Upon entering the room, Yingzi removed her attire and lay down on the large bed, saying, "I'll just rest here for the night; after all, this bed is quite spacious. But don't get any ideas; you know what kind of person I am." As she spoke, Yingzi took off her shoes, slipped into some slippers, and walked into the bathroom. After a while, the sound of running water could be heard. It was quite late, and she still wanted to take a bath; sometimes, this woman’s dedication to cleanliness was truly remarkable.
Fei Hu lay down on the other side of the bed, his mind elsewhere. The fact that Ye Xiaofei had appeared in such a situation tonight hit him hard. If it weren't for the chaotic events earlier, he could have stepped up confidently to protect her. But now, he had to present himself as a stranger in front of her.
Lost in thought, a wave of drowsiness washed over Fei Hu, and he unknowingly drifted into sleep. In his dreams, he caught a faint whiff of perfume and felt as if he were touching a woman's smooth and soft skin, but everything felt so unreal.
When the noise of the day returned, Fei Hu finally opened his eyes. Looking at the sunlight streaming through the curtains, he remembered that he had shared a bed with Yingzi last night. When he reached out to touch beside him, he found that she was no longer there. Fei Hu got out of bed and noticed the imprint where Yingzi had slept; this woman was truly as pure as a goddess—she had managed to sleep so soundly last night.
Stretching lazily, Fei Hu realized that sleeping in clothes was quite uncomfortable. He thought for a moment before stripping off his clothes, putting on some slippers from the bedside table, and heading to the bathroom for a hot shower. By the time he emerged, he felt completely refreshed.
Just as Fei Hu was getting dressed, the phone on the table suddenly rang. Assuming it was hotel staff calling, he frowned and picked up the phone with an annoyed tone, saying, "What is it?"
"Are you awake yet, sleepyhead? I have something to attend to and will be heading back. If you want to stay longer, feel free; you won't have to pay for it. If you decide to leave, just let the front desk know before noon. It's that simple; I hope I’m not disturbing your sleep!" Yingzi's cheerful voice came through the line.
Fei Hu deliberately raised his voice and said, "What do you mean leaving me here alone? You sneak away before dawn; that's really inconsiderate."
"Haha! So you think you have a right to complain? You're just like a pig—only concerned about your sleep! Alright, enough of these unpleasant topics," Yingzi said before abruptly hanging up.
At Ye Wu's house, the front door remained closed for an unusually long time. Squatting by the corner of the villa was Abiao, who stood up several times in anticipation. What was going on? Ye Wu had a habit of morning exercise every day; why was she waking up so late today?
Finally reaching for the doorbell next to the entrance, Abiao suddenly heard a loud crash from the third-floor window of Ye Wu's house as if something had struck it. Glass shards fell everywhere, startling Abiao who gasped softly—could it be that Brother Tiger was in trouble?
