Fei Hu, not having time to wipe the water off his body, reached for the clothes on the hanger. After a moment of frantic searching, he finally pulled out his phone. When he saw that it was Yingzi calling, his heart involuntarily raced.
"Hello! What's wrong, Yingzi? Is something happening again?" Fei Hu's tone was urgent and tense, tinged with a hint of anger. At that moment, any man would be upset.
On the other end of the line, Yingzi sensed Fei Hu's displeasure. She chuckled lightly and said, "I just wanted to check where you are and if you're safe. Little Four shouldn't have found you, right?" Yingzi spoke calmly, filled with genuine concern for Fei Hu.
Upon realizing that Yingzi had called for this reason, Fei Hu let out a sigh of relief and said, "Oh my gosh! Calling me at this hour will scare someone to death eventually. I'm fine, don't worry. I'm in a very safe place; they won't find me." As he spoke, Sun Li, possibly annoyed from standing too long, opened the door and walked out.
"Hey! You really are something else. Are you hiding at some woman's place again? Which one is it? Tell me so I can see if it's safe," Yingzi's concern made Fei Hu feel quite embarrassed.
But she was only thinking about his safety. After hesitating for a moment, Fei Hu gently replied, "I'm at Sun Li's house."
"Oh! She’s back in the country? Good choice; her place should be the safest right now. But you need to be careful; just make sure not to bring any trouble back with you when you leave. Alright, I won't disturb your good time any longer," Yingzi's words were laced with jealousy.
When Fei Hu finished his shower and wrapped himself in a towel, the wall clock clearly indicated that it was already past midnight. He tiptoed to push open Sun Li's bedroom door but found it locked from the inside. It seemed she was indeed upset. Feeling dejected, Fei Hu flopped down on the sofa and was about to drift off into a daydream when suddenly, Sun Li's bedroom door opened. She stood there in a very sexy nightgown, staring intently at Fei Hu.
That look from Sun Li was irresistible to any man. He jumped off the sofa and quickly lunged toward her. With a soft gasp from her, they both tumbled onto the wide mattress.
As sunlight streamed through the gaps in the curtains and hit Fei Hu's face, he stretched lazily and let out a comfortable yawn before opening his bleary eyes. Slowly recalling everything from last night, he reached out only to find that the space beside him was empty.
Fei Hu sat up to clear his head a bit and got out of bed to get dressed. Glancing at the large wall clock, he realized that if he slept any longer, he might even miss noon entirely.
He arrived at the balcony, stretching his body a bit. It had been a long time since he felt such a wonderful sensation. Looking at the bright sunlight outside and the chirping birds on the branches, Fei Hu suddenly thought about how different his life might have been if he hadn't been caught up in the Ye Family's disputes.
Just as Fei Hu was enjoying this rare moment, his phone rang again. This time, he didn't feel nervous. He walked over, picked it up, glanced at it, and answered. Before Fei Hu could say anything, Yingzi's anxious voice came through the phone: "Fei Hu! Hurry to the entrance of Sun Li's neighborhood; I'm coming to pick you up." Yingzi was as decisive as ever; she hung up before Fei Hu could respond.
From the call, Fei Hu sensed a hint of dread. It was likely that Ye Wu was causing trouble again. That bastard didn't manage to beat him down the other day; it seemed like a significant mistake on his part. Fei Hu got dressed, locked the door, and quickly walked out of Sun Li's neighborhood. To avoid drawing attention, he deliberately walked an extra seven or eight hundred meters ahead.
Standing by the roadside watching pedestrians and vehicles was quite enjoyable; at least it kept his mind from worrying about problems. After standing for about ten minutes, a car screeched to a stop beside him. Fei Hu turned around and saw Yingzi wearing large sunglasses, grinning at him.
As soon as Fei Hu got in the car, it sped off. He sighed and asked, "What's going on? Why did you rush me out here?" As he spoke, he glanced sideways at Yingzi.
"With that look in your eyes, you'd think I ruined something good for you. Is the nurse still keeping you company at this hour?" Yingzi realized she had misspoken and her cheeks flushed.
Fei Hu chuckled lightly and said, "She already went to work. I just woke up and found it strange that at this time, even if Ye Wu is bold enough, he wouldn't dare come looking for trouble with you guys directly!"
Yingzi drove fast and shook her head. "Do you think Ye Wu is a fool who won't learn from his mistakes? This time he's gotten smarter. According to what I've heard from my sources, he's targeting two people right now: you and Sister Xiaofei. Their actions are planned for tonight, which is why I'm here to find you."
Upon hearing this, Fei Hu's heart sank slightly. He replied calmly, "Isn't Ye Xiaofei at school? As long as she doesn't run around, how could Ye Wu possibly storm into a Noble School? I've heard that such schools have strict security; it's nearly impossible for outsiders to get in unless they use extreme measures."
"I know that too," Yingzi said, "but don't forget that even if Sister Xiaofei doesn't come out herself, Ye Wu will find a way to lure her out. If that happens, she'll be in danger. So we must prepare defensive measures to be ready for anything; otherwise, it will be too late to fix things once they happen. Don't you think?"
Fei Hu thought for a moment and said, "This isn't my problem. If Grandpa were in danger, I would do everything I could to help. But Ye Xiaofei looks down on someone like me, so don't bother trying."
Yingzi suddenly slammed on the brakes; the car screeched to a halt by the roadside of a high bridge, startling the cars behind them into honking urgently. Fei Hu clutched his racing heart and angrily asked, "What are you doing? Are you crazy? I don't want to die; I haven't even gotten married or had kids yet! This is just a roundabout way of planning parenthood!"
"Stop talking nonsense. Are you going to take care of tonight's matter or not, Ye Xiaofei? Are you even a man? Do you really want to be entangled over such a trivial matter for a lifetime? She may have gone a bit too far, but what about you? Haven't you had enough women around you? Think about it from another perspective; is what you're doing right?" Yingzi became increasingly agitated, and in the end, she turned her face away in anger.
Fei Hu sat there dumbfounded for a while and realized that Yingzi was absolutely right. Ye Xiaofei was being unreasonable, but everything he had done was indeed not commendable. Everyone deserves a little leeway. Just as Yingzi said, he was a man and should act like one. If he continued to dwell on this matter, wouldn't he be just like Ye Xiaofei?
"Don't be angry. I'll go with you, but I'm not doing this for her sake; I'm doing it for you, Yingzi," Fei Hu said, ultimately still holding onto his male chauvinism. Even if he went, he needed to find a reason to justify it.
Yingzi rolled her eyes at Fei Hu and restarted the car. She knew that it was already not easy for this man to accompany her. To put it bluntly, he and Ye Xiaofei only had a brief history together; since they had parted ways, there was no need for him to take such risks for her. She just wanted to provoke Fei Hu a bit to find herself an ally; otherwise, she would really struggle with this matter. As for whether Fei Hu and Ye Xiaofei would reconcile, she truly didn't care; in fact, she hoped that the two of them would remain like this forever.
After a while, the car drove down the overpass. Instead of heading directly to the Noble School where Ye Xiaofei was, Yingzi drove into the underground parking lot of a large hotel and then took Fei Hu up to the top floor suite. This left Fei Hu feeling very confused. What was this woman doing renting a room in broad daylight? Could it be that she... As he thought about this, Fei Hu couldn't help but chuckle inwardly; he knew exactly what kind of person Yingzi was.
On the 28th floor, which was among the tallest buildings in the area, Yingzi opened the door and let Fei Hu in. He immediately pulled back the curtains slightly and took out a small box from his handbag. With a few quick movements, she set up a small telescope as if performing magic.
"Come over and take a look; see if it's clear," Yingzi beckoned to Fei Hu.
Fei Hu walked over and bent down to take a look. Oh my god! This high-tech gadget was impressive. Before him appeared the entrance of an esteemed institution, complete with security guards at the gate and vehicles coming in and out. Occasionally, fashionable young women walked by; everything felt so close that Fei Hu shook his head in admiration.
"Not bad; I can see everything clearly. This thing is great; we can just sit here and see everything at the school gate. It seems you've already scoped everything out well. I just wonder how far it is from here to the school gate; it's hard to estimate with this telescope," Fei Hu said while fiddling with the telescope.
Yingzi took two bottles of drinks from the fridge in the room and handed one to Fei Hu before slowly saying, "Take the elevator down and exit through the back door. If we run at full speed to the school gate, it will take about three minutes. But it's hard to say because anything could happen in three minutes." When she said this, her face showed displeasure; it was clear that she had put a lot of thought into this matter.
"It's fine; if we notice something is off, we'll head down early. There won't be any problems," Fei Hu said as he continued adjusting the telescope on its stand when suddenly he exclaimed, "Yingzi! Come look!" His shout startled Yingzi so much that she almost dropped her can of soda.
