On the wall at the entrance, in blood-red letters, the words "Zhu You Chess Room" were written. As Fei Hu pushed the door open and stepped inside, his eyes brightened; it turned out that the space was not as small as he had imagined. Several rooms had been connected, making it as large as a basketball court.
"Hahaha, indeed, young people are bold. You dared to come alone to accept my invitation, Diao San. I must say, it's impressive. However, sometimes being bold is not a good thing. Just because you came in doesn't mean you can walk out," a loud voice came from the corner of the room.
Fei Hu focused his gaze and saw a short, stout man in his forties sitting in the innermost corner. The man had a rosy complexion and a bald head. His eyes were wide open, and if one didn't look closely, they might think he was asleep. His two tufts of mustache curled slightly upward, giving him a distinctive appearance. Behind him stood seven or eight young men, two of whom Fei Hu recognized as the ones who had passed him a note and called him from the convenience store.
Diao San—Fei Hu's mind raced. He seemed not to know this person, so how did they know his whereabouts so clearly? Fei Hu was somewhat surprised and cupped his fist in greeting, asking loudly, "Everyone! It seems I do not know you. May I ask why you called me here?"
"Heh heh! You don't need to know us; it's enough that we know you. We have been waiting for you at the entrance of Shengwei Group for quite some time now. Fortunately, you showed up today, so our business can come to an end," said the man who called himself Diao San as he stood up.
"Our business? What business do we have? I don't believe I've offended any of you," Fei Hu asked suspiciously.
Diao San walked within one or two meters of Fei Hu before stopping. He blinked his small eyes and coldly said, "A reckless person brings trouble upon themselves. If our business is simply that you're too arrogant, then I, Diao San, cannot tolerate you. I don't want to see you in A City again; that's all. Be sensible and don't appear in A City again. Since you're a man, I'll let you go today."
Upon hearing this, Fei Hu felt his anger rising slowly. What kind of world was this? A City was so big that he couldn't even find a place to settle down? He felt unjustly treated; someone must be pulling strings behind the scenes. Were Wang Qian or Ye Wei involved? As this thought crossed his mind, his anger flared up. He coldly smiled and said, "I never fall for this kind of threat. A City is not privately owned by anyone; if I want to stay, I will stay; if I want to leave, it will be my choice. No one can control me."
"You've got guts! It seems that unless we take action today, you'll never know who Diao San really is," the man said as he kicked a chair towards himself.
Fei Hu noticed that this stout man was also skilled; his hand movements were not lacking at all.
Fei Hu shifted his stance slightly into a T-stance and calmly asked, "Can you tell me who sent you? If we fight now, there will be no light or heavy blows; injury or death is possible." Fei Hu deliberately spoke harshly.
"Hahaha! It seems you don't know much about our world. How could I reveal my backing? That would break the rules! Since you don't appreciate my kindness, don't blame me for being rude," Diao San said just as he swung the chair upwards toward Fei Hu.
Indeed, this move was unusual and different from what an ordinary person would do. Fei Hu did not dare to be careless; he quickly spun twice and was already beside Diao San before he realized it. Diao San hadn't expected Fei Hu's speed to be so fast; normally, that move would have injured anyone else.
As Fei Hu closed in on Diao San's side, he struck twice with his palms. Diao San panicked and hurriedly pulled the chair back into his arms. Despite this, Fei Hu's strikes landed on the chair with such force that Diao San was knocked back two steps. Only then did he realize he had encountered a formidable opponent; it seemed he had underestimated him earlier.
Fei Hu was not someone to be trifled with. With a swift attack, he crouched down and executed a series of sweeping strikes. Diao San managed to dodge the first sweep, but he was not so lucky with the second; with a thud, he was knocked to the ground.
As soon as their leader fell, several of his lackeys rushed in, armed with various items like brooms, mops, and even chairs. In the cramped room, these long weapons were not very effective. Moreover, they were outnumbered, and the presence of tables and chairs provided Fei Hu with a great opportunity. He jumped around, dodging left and right, and in the blink of an eye, all seven or eight of them were lying on the floor.
Fei Hu clapped his hands and turned to leave when suddenly five or six yellow-haired thugs burst in through the door, wielding steel pipes. Seeing them made Fei Hu's heart sink; it seemed escaping through the door would not be easy.
While he was momentarily stunned, the yellow-haired thugs charged at him silently with their steel pipes. It became clear that they had been prepared for this encounter. Fei Hu realized he had been too careless; he had accepted an invitation based on just a piece of paper—how foolishly naive.
He thought about it, but it was already too late.
In an instant, the yellow-haired thugs were upon him. Regardless of their skills, they were armed with metal weapons; being struck would surely cause injury.
Fei Hu performed a backflip onto a mahjong table and then leaped back down, grabbing a chair from the ground and smashing it toward the thugs. The sight startled them into dropping to the floor as the chair flew over their heads and crashed into a glass window with a loud bang, shattering the glass and scattering it everywhere. Upon seeing this, Fei Hu formulated a plan; it turned out there were no security bars on the window—just a wooden frame nailed together.
Diao San, having embarrassed himself in front of his lackeys, scrambled up from the ground and grabbed another chair. Leading his seven or eight companions, he charged at Fei Hu from behind. This put Fei Hu in a precarious position where he could be attacked from both sides.
With a plan forming in his mind, Fei Hu picked up another chair and charged at the yellow-haired thugs. A flurry of sounds erupted as he forced them back several steps. Seizing this opportunity, he swung his chair at the wooden window frame; with a crack, the already flimsy frame collapsed to the ground.
This created a large opening. Diao San likely anticipated Fei Hu's intentions as he led his group forward. Fei Hu hurled his heavy wooden chair at two of them in front; unable to dodge in time, they screamed as they were knocked down by the chair. The others quickly retreated in fear.
Recognizing this golden opportunity, Fei Hu dashed toward the large hole in the window and leaped through it. By the time Diao San realized what had happened, Fei Hu was already outside.
He ran wildly and soon exited the Shanty Area. In truth, he didn't even need to run because Diao San and his crew didn't pursue him at all. This guy had some self-awareness; inside that house, so many people had no way to deal with Fei Hu—outside would be even less likely.
After all this commotion, it was already noon, and Fei Hu felt his stomach protesting; it was time to eat!
In this area, Fei Hu was relatively familiar. He turned down two streets and sat down at a noodle shop called Big Bowl King. Fei Hu ordered a bottle of beer and a large bowl of washed noodles, enjoying his meal.
As he ate, he thought about his situation. From what had happened today, he was indeed in a bit of danger. Not only did Ye Wu's people want to deal with him, but it seemed that Ye Wei and Wang Qian were also targeting him. This meant that he had to be careful when going outside. After today's foolish incident, he vowed never to take such risks alone again.
At that moment, Fei Hu's phone rang. It was Yingzi calling. Upon learning that Fei Hu was in the city and not too far from her, she asked him to wait for her because she wanted to see him.
Before long, just as Fei Hu finished eating, Yingzi drove up. Once he got into the car, Yingzi parked on a relatively secluded road and smiled as she asked, "Did you go to see Sister Xiaofei this morning?"
Fei Hu was taken aback and nodded in surprise. He asked, "How did you know?"
Yingzi paused for a moment before calmly replying, "Around eleven this morning, Yingzi called me to pick her up. After we got home, she told her grandfather that she could skip going to school in America but wanted to make up some courses at Noble School in A City. When I heard she changed her mind so quickly, I thought of you."
Fei Hu sighed and recounted everything that had happened that morning to Yingzi. After listening to him, Yingzi was silent for a long time. Finally, she shook her head in disbelief and said, "You're incredible! This sounds like a movie; it's hard to believe."
"What can I do? I have no choice but to take risks. Ye Xiaofei won't answer my calls at all. If she really leaves, how will I face anyone in A City? I'd become an enemy of the Ye Family," Fei Hu said seriously. However, when he heard Yingzi mention that Ye Xiaofei wouldn't be going to America, he felt relieved.
Yingzi nodded thoughtfully and said, "As a man, you should take responsibility. What you did was absolutely right. I believe that once Sister Xiaofei thinks it through, she will definitely appreciate your efforts."
Fei Hu shook his head and replied, "No need for appreciation; as long as we don't become enemies."
Yingzi silently nodded and suddenly asked, "Who are those people watching you at the entrance of Shengwei Group? It seems they are really about to take action; the real battle is about to begin." Yingzi's words made Fei Hu's heart tremble.
