Fei Hu chuckled lightly and remained silent, knowing that Ye Xiaofei would appear at any moment, and he couldn't afford to anger her again.
"Give me your phone number, and I'll contact you when I have time. It would be nice for everyone to hang out together," Li Qin's boldness and straightforwardness left Fei Hu momentarily speechless. Just as he was hesitating about what to do, Li Qin walked over and rummaged through his four pockets. She then pulled out his phone from his pants pocket, pressed a few numbers, and dialed. When the ringing stopped, Li Qin hung up.
"Fake man," Li Qin said as she shoved Fei Hu's phone back into his hand and turned to leave. Fei Hu was stunned by her actions. What kind of man is a real man? Is it someone who is fickle or a flirt? Fei Hu thought to himself, unable to suppress a laugh.
At that moment, Ye Xiaofei hurried over to Fei Hu. "Fei Hu, we need to go back quickly; something seems to have happened at home. Yingzi just called, and she sounded very anxious."
"Did she not clarify what the issue was?" Fei Hu asked as he quickly stood up.
Ye Xiaofei shook her head. "The call suddenly dropped, which surprised me. I tried calling back, but the line was already dead. When I called the villa, Sister Wu said Yingzi went out this afternoon and hasn't returned yet, so I'm really worried," Ye Xiaofei said while waving at Li Qin in the distance.
"What urgent matter could it be? We finally gathered together, and besides, the fun part of the program is still later tonight. If you leave now, won't you ruin my mood? Can't you stay a bit longer?" Li Qin said as she looked at Fei Hu with a reluctant expression.
Ye Xiaofei decisively replied, "No way. I'm sorry everyone; I can't stay here any longer. Please let everyone know that if there's an opportunity, I'll host you all at my place." As she spoke, she pulled Fei Hu along to leave. The way she referred to "my place" made Fei Hu feel that their relationship had become incredibly close.
"Oh dear, how can Fei Hu drive after drinking? Why don't you call Di to come back and let him stay here?" Li Qin was incredibly bold to make such a suggestion.
Ye Xiaofei released her grip on Fei Hu's arm, slightly displeased but smiling lightly said, "Well then, whether you stay or go is up to you; I won't make it too difficult for you."
Upon hearing this, Fei Hu smiled and said to Li Qin, "Thank you for your generous invitation, Miss Li. I can't let Xiaofei go back alone; I'm worried about her. Besides, I've only had a little red wine; driving won't be an issue at all. Thank you for your concern." As he spoke, he deliberately stretched his arm out sideways, and Ye Xiaofei happily linked hers with his as they quickly walked downstairs together.
Li Qin stood on the rooftop, watching Fei Hu drive out of the villa's gate. She coldly thought to herself, "I must have this man, no matter that he is currently Ye Xiaofei's."
At a little past one in the morning, the vehicles on the overpass were sparse. Fei Hu kept the speed at its limit; he did not want to risk losing his driver's license again. In the passenger seat, Ye Xiaofei wore an anxious expression and couldn't help but ask Fei Hu, "Do you think Yingzi will be okay? I'm so worried. Please say something."
Fei Hu had developed a habit of not talking while driving on the highway, but since Ye Xiaofei asked him, he could only respond, "Don't worry. Yingzi is quite capable; she can handle herself against most people. Besides, the security in the city is good, so there shouldn't be any major issues. Why don't you try calling her again to see if she answers?"
Upon hearing this, Ye Xiaofei quickly took out her phone and dialed. She excitedly shouted, "Hello, Yingzi! Are you okay? You scared me to death! Where are you right now?" Ye Xiaofei was truly frantic.
Suddenly, Ye Xiaofei handed her phone to Fei Hu. He was startled and quickly reduced his speed, moving into the slow lane before taking the phone. He heard Yingzi's voice on the line: "Fei Hu, I'm currently trapped in an abandoned factory. I'm not in immediate danger, but I can't get out; there are more than ten people here."
Fei Hu immediately asked, "What’s your exact location? If it comes to it, call the police; your safety is the priority. However, I'm already in the city and shouldn't be too far from you."
"I'm at West Gate Intersection, behind Lihua Building. I don't want to call the police because I haven't seen these people before. I hope you can come and help me identify them," Yingzi explained. Fei Hu was truly impressed by her composure.
After a moment of thought, Fei Hu said, "That place is indeed close to me. Be careful and stay hidden. I'll be there shortly. You should turn your phone to silent mode from now on so that your location isn't exposed."
"Okay, I'm hiding in a filing cabinet in an office on the third floor of the abandoned factory. Remember to knock five times when you arrive; I'll come out then. Otherwise, it's too dark for us to see each other and we might accidentally harm one another," Yingzi instructed before hanging up.
Fei Hu pressed down hard on the accelerator; his Z4 roared as it sped away. He was even more anxious than when he was trapped himself because Yingzi was in danger. In less than ten minutes, he arrived at Lihua Building and turned to Ye Xiaofei saying, "It's nighttime and there are no traffic police around; you should drive home now and not wait for us."
"No way! I want to go with you! There’s strength in numbers; I might even be able to help," Ye Xiaofei suddenly clung to Fei Hu's arm like a child.
Fei Hu glared at her sternly and said, "Do you think this is a game? There are over ten people involved, and it's pitch black; one small mistake could lead to serious danger. You need to go back and not cause any trouble here. You should know that without you around, I will fight harder; having you by my side would only hinder my performance. So hurry up and leave; every minute you stay increases Yingzi's risk."
With that said, Ye Xiaofei no longer dared to act willfully. She gently kissed Fei Hu on the cheek before opening the car door and getting out.
Watching the Z4 drive away, Fei Hu then walked towards the back of Lihua Building. The bustling exterior was just a facade; behind the building lay a cluster of old houses that had not been demolished. It was densely packed, and as soon as one stepped inside, a sense of oppression enveloped them, making even breathing feel difficult. Fei Hu relied on the dim streetlights to identify the abandoned factory in Yingzi's mouth. After much effort, he finally saw that at the end of this alley, there seemed to be an Iron Gate. Such gates were typically found in factories; residential areas would not have such large doors.
Fei Hu cautiously approached and confirmed his suspicion: there was a small courtyard with a three-story Building inside. Judging by its scale and design, it appeared to be intended for factory use. The courtyard was dark, and nothing was visible, but Fei Hu dared not rush in because he was currently in plain sight; any slight movement could alert others.
Leaning against the courtyard wall, Fei Hu listened carefully but heard no sounds. It seemed this group was well-trained and not just ordinary Hooligans. He realized he needed to be cautious. Looking around, he found it impossible to make a move. Suddenly, his hand brushed against a protruding brick on the wall. With a little force, he pulled it out; it must have been an old brick because it came out easily. Fei Hu felt a surge of joy as he continued to pry at the wall, unexpectedly creating a large hole.
Crawling through this opening, these people would never suspect him. Once inside the courtyard, he crouched under the wall and quietly observed for a while. He couldn't discern anything unusual and thought that unless he created some noise, these guys wouldn't show themselves. So, he picked up a half-brick nearby, raised his arm, and smashed it onto the stairs. With a loud crack, several shadows emerged from somewhere and rushed toward the stairs.
Seeing this, Fei Hu leaped forward and rolled over to evade them, landing behind the group. Now at the entrance of the Building, he gently pushed the door only to find it locked; it wouldn’t budge at all. What should he do? If these people returned without noticing anything odd, he would be in serious trouble.
Just as Fei Hu was feeling anxious, his hand accidentally brushed against a hanging Wire. He flicked it and discovered that this Wire was hanging down from the rooftop. Pulling on it firmly several times revealed that it was very secure. Feeling a surge of hope, Fei Hu grabbed onto the Wire with both hands and placed his feet on the floor as he began to climb up step by step. Although the building was only three stories high—about ten meters—if he misstepped or if the Wire suddenly snapped, he didn’t dare think about the consequences.
Perhaps driven by his desire to save someone, Fei Hu overlooked everything else. One meter, two meters—he climbed higher off the ground when he finally realized that climbing a building was different from climbing a mountain. His hands were being painfully squeezed by the Wire, and his legs began to tremble. Yet Fei Hu held onto one belief: perseverance leads to victory. Just as he used up his last bit of strength to grab onto the iron railing at the rooftop, the Wire in his other hand suddenly snapped. Cold sweat drenched his clothes; despite being in dangerous situations for so long, this was the first time he had been so frightened.
Suspended in mid-air, Fei Hu gritted his teeth and arched his body upward while pushing off with his feet. Fortunately, after some close calls, he finally made it to the rooftop of the third floor. Before coming up here, Fei Hu had already planned how to get from the rooftop down to the third floor; no matter how skilled those people were, they wouldn’t expect this move from him. However, Fei Hu felt that tonight everything had been accidental; although fraught with danger, he managed to turn misfortune into fortune. He just wondered what would happen next.
