Fei Hu coldly snorted and said, "If you have not done anything wrong, you shouldn't be scared when someone knocks on your door at midnight."
"What do you mean? Do you want me to show you my heart?" Wang Qian suddenly covered her face and began to cry, looking quite pitiful. It was not easy to make a woman like her shed tears.
Could it be that he had really wronged her? Fei Hu walked to the door but couldn't bring himself to leave. He gently closed the door and walked over to Wang Qian's side. Upon seeing her crying so sadly, with tears ruining her makeup, she looked somewhat frightening.
Fei Hu found a tissue on the table, pulled out two sheets, handed them to her, and softly comforted her, "Don't cry. I misunderstood you. Honestly, whether you stay or go doesn't matter to me at all. You don't need to worry about it."
Wang Qian tore off her eyelashes and said sharply, "Are you even a man? You're only thinking about your own feelings. If you leave like this, not only will I feel bad, but Ye Xiaofei will also take advantage of me. I really don't want to delve into your relationship with him, but I want to ask you to stay for me. I'm begging you."
With things said this way, Fei Hu felt he couldn't say anything more. He was most afraid of women crying; once Wang Qian started crying, his heart was completely in turmoil. Fei Hu could only nod and say, "Alright! I'll stay for now and we can talk about it later. You should wash your face."
Upon hearing this, Wang Qian nodded and smiled, but Fei Hu noticed that her smile seemed a bit forced.
When he returned to the lobby on the first floor, the security team leader was already standing there with a smile on his face. He chuckled and said, "It's all a misunderstanding. Don't take it to heart; this territory is still yours." After saying that, he turned and left, seemingly afraid that Fei Hu would cause trouble for him.
These days, it seemed that everyone was afraid of being pushed around; the more aggressive one was, the more others would fear them. If you treated people kindly, they would just think you're a fool.
A day passed in unease like this. After work, Fei Hu walked down the street alone in low spirits. He was extremely frustrated; he never expected that being a mere security guard would involve so much trouble. In fact, it might be better not to do this job at all; he might as well find A-Lian for some odd jobs. Thinking of this made Fei Hu pull out his phone; he hadn't contacted that woman in days and wondered how her business was doing.
"Hello! Fei Hu! What made you think of calling me today? Is something up?" A-Lian asked directly as soon as she answered the phone, her personality quite similar to Fei Hu's.
Fei Hu held his phone while walking slowly and replied with a smile, "What? Can't I call you if there's nothing going on? Like inviting you out for dinner or dancing?"
"Haha, that's nice! But maybe I heard wrong; you're so stingy with your money that inviting other women must be easy for you but not for me. I've seen through it long ago; someone like me is beneath your notice, right?" A-Lian said while laughing.
Fei Hu understood the sourness in A-Lian's tone; it wasn't that he looked down on her but rather that he couldn't help himself since he had such good fortune with women—each one more outstanding than the last. Men are like that; they always want what they can't have while enjoying what they do have.
"Is there something going on? Hurry up and tell me! I have to get busy soon; there's no time for idle chit-chat. If you're free, come find me later and I'll keep you company," A-Lian said before suddenly changing the subject. Fei Hu thought he heard someone calling A-Lian on the other end of the line.
Fei Hu said, "I lost my job. Do you need someone to help out?"
"Sure! Come over quickly. I have work to do here. As long as you don't mind, you're welcome anytime, just as long as you can bear to leave those beautiful women around you," A-Lian laughed.
Fei Hu thought for a moment and replied, "Alright! I've made up my mind, I'll come over anytime. You go ahead and get busy!"
As he hung up the phone, Fei Hu felt something was off. He suddenly turned around and realized that Ye Xiaofei's car had already stopped behind him. Ye Xiaofei was leaning out of the window, watching him excitedly on the phone.
"Oh! I was so busy on the call that I didn't see you," Fei Hu walked over and smiled at Ye Xiaofei.
Ye Xiaofei shook her head and said lightly, "Let's talk in the car." Fei Hu sensed her displeasure.
When a beautiful woman asked him to get in the car, he dared not refuse. He opened the door and jumped in.
As soon as Fei Hu got in, Ye Xiaofei slammed on the gas pedal, and the Z4 roared onto the overtaking lane. It seemed that her anger had not yet subsided. Sitting beside her, Fei Hu nervously gripped the handle with his right hand while his left hand quietly rested near the handbrake, ready to help if anything went wrong.
Ye Xiaofei kept her eyes straight ahead, accelerating continuously. The Z4 swerved left and right, causing a cacophony of honks from other drivers. When Fei Hu glanced at the speedometer, his eyes nearly popped out; one hundred fifty miles per hour! My God, that's too fast! It was rush hour with so many cars around, and she could drive like this—she really should consider being a race car driver.
Fei Hu had a rough idea of Ye Xiaofei's temperament; she was reckless. Unless she had completely vented whatever anger she had inside her, she wouldn't stop; no one could persuade her otherwise.
Is this woman crazy? Why isn't she heading home? By the time Fei Hu realized it, the Z4 had already entered the outer ring road, heading towards the suburbs. Once out of the city, traffic noticeably decreased, and Ye Xiaofei's speed shot up to one hundred eighty miles per hour. Oh my God! What is she trying to do? Fei Hu couldn't help but close his eyes and shout loudly, "I haven't lived enough! I don't want to die so early!"
The speed began to decrease after a few bumps before suddenly coming to a stop. When Fei Hu opened his eyes again, they were parked on a deserted beach. The sand mixed with mud made the seawater look very murky. A group of farmer's children ran barefoot along the shore.
Fei Hu curiously asked Ye Xiaofei, "How did you know about this place?"
Ye Xiaofei glanced at him with an unfriendly expression and replied coldly, "Why can't I know?" Her icy response left Fei Hu speechless. The atmosphere in the car felt tense and charged.
"How about we get out for a walk and breathe some fresh air?" Fei Hu tried to break the ice, hoping to lighten the mood a bit.
Ye Xiaofei remained silent but opened the car door and stepped out. Fei Hu felt a surge of joy; after all, she had finally listened to his suggestion. The sea breeze swept in, bringing a comfortable sensation that dispelled the chill of winter, replaced instead by the warmth of spring.
The two walked side by side on the not-so-soft sand, with no one speaking. Fei Hu was anxious, unsure of how to start a conversation. Suddenly, Ye Xiaofei let out a scream; she had stepped on a rock and slipped, leaning toward Fei Hu. It was as if she was falling into his embrace. He quickly reached out, and Ye Xiaofei found herself securely in his arms.
Fei Hu held her tightly and did not let go. Ye Xiaofei struggled a couple of times in anger, but seeing his determination, she stopped resisting. Thus, Fei Hu held onto Ye Xiaofei, and they slowly walked along the beach, enjoying the tranquility of the moment.
Suddenly, two little girls ran past them. One of them glanced at Ye Xiaofei and happily shouted, "Sister, you are so beautiful! Big brother is so ugly!"
The little girl's words made Ye Xiaofei laugh. She turned her head and smiled slightly, saying, "Even children say you're ugly; why don't you let go of my hand?"
Fei Hu chuckled and replied, "Though flowers are beautiful, they lack the nutrients of cow dung and will wither just the same. So this flower of yours will have to make do with my cow dung for now!"
Ye Xiaofei laughed heartily and gently tapped her delicate finger on Fei Hu's head. The two were filled with joy. At that moment, the sun had dipped halfway into the sea, casting golden rays that reflected off the water. The waves rolled like a golden fish swimming proudly on the surface. The children who had been playing just moments ago had vanished without a trace; it was likely that local families were beginning to prepare for dinner.
Ye Xiaofei rested her head on Fei Hu's broad shoulder and softly asked, "Why did you act that way this morning? Did you really want to leave Sheng Wei and leave me?"
Fei Hu shook his head, exhaling deeply as he said, "I didn't want to put you in a difficult position. Leaving Sheng Wei is true, but I don't want to leave you." His words were filled with emotion.
Ye Xiaofei shook her head and said, "I don't want you to leave Sheng Wei, nor do I want you to leave me. I need you."
Upon hearing this, Fei Hu was deeply moved and couldn't help but nod in agreement.
