"Hey! You two, just let me off the hook! I'm already in this state; if I drink more, I really won't be able to get up," Fei Hu slurred, speaking to Ye Xiaofei and Yingzi.
Yingzi smiled but said nothing, while Ye Xiaofei was not having it. After thinking for a moment, she softly said to Fei Hu, "We can agree to your request, but you have to call us both 'sister' once each. Don't say you're older than us; if you do, it won't count." As she spoke, she deliberately shook her head, looking very pleased with herself.
Although Fei Hu felt miserable from the drunkenness, he was still clear-headed enough to realize that Ye Xiaofei was clearly trying to take advantage of him. Since he was already drunk, calling them 'sister' was no big deal. As long as they didn't make him drink more, he could call them whatever they wanted. With that thought in mind, he closed his eyes and shouted loudly, "Sister! Sister!" It came out quite easily.
However, Ye Xiaofei seemed unsatisfied. She laughed and said, "Your voice is quite bright, but I don't know who you just called. Neither of us responded, which shows you have no sincerity. How about this? This time, call us 'sister' with genuine feelings facing us; only then will it count."
Ye Xiaofei's teasing made Yingzi laugh until she had tears in her eyes. Fei Hu felt uncomfortable from the alcohol churning in his stomach and didn't want to get tangled up with Ye Xiaofei. He stood up, faced her, and called out sincerely, "Sister! Is that good enough now?"
Ye Xiaofei actually responded, "Ah! Good boy! Just remember, next time you drink, don't overdo it. Look at you now; there's no sign of manliness at all. I made you call me 'sister,' and you really did it. If I told you to call me 'grandma,' I wonder if you'd still do it."
Upon hearing this, Fei Hu's anger flared up instantly. Ye Xiaofei was really getting out of hand; she was pushing her luck and wouldn't stop. He decided not to call her anything and thought to himself that he would see what she could do about it. He flopped back onto the sofa, closed his eyes, and ignored Ye Xiaofei.
"Get up! Why are you lying down? Did my little joke really scare you? You don't need to drink anymore; grandma doesn't want you to call her that either. Get up and go back to sleep in your room! Yingzi and I are leaving," Ye Xiaofei said when she saw how tired Fei Hu looked. She hurriedly changed the subject, leaving Fei Hu puzzled about her intentions.
Yingzi walked over and pulled Fei Hu up, dragging him onto the big bed in the room. She softly said, "You should sleep! We'll come back later tonight. Xiaofei and I prepared some good dishes; we must have a proper drink tonight. Otherwise, once things get busy later on, we might not have another chance."
Seeing Yingzi's sincere attitude, Fei Hu smiled and said quickly, "Then you guys drive back and call a taxi over!"
The entire afternoon passed as Fei Hu slept deeply through many dreams. He felt extremely tired until the sound of music from his phone pulled him out of his slumber. He blinked for a moment before grabbing his phone to check; it was Bald Zhang calling. This guy had quite a bit of patience—after so many days, why was he only calling now? Fei Hu answered the phone and shouted, "What's up? Are you inviting me to chase girls again?"
"Hey! What are you doing flirting? The situation is urgent, come quickly! There's someone causing trouble at Feng Jie's Chess Room, and it seems like they have some influence. I'm gathering people now, 235 Yunfeng Road, hurry up!" Bald Zhang said before hanging up the phone.
Fei Hu hurriedly sat up in bed, feeling much more alert. What was going on? It seemed that his plans for a night out with a beautiful woman were ruined again. He couldn't afford to be careless; since he was already involved, he had to take action. Moreover, he was the nominal leader. Fei Hu quickly called Yingzi, briefly explained the situation, and then rushed downstairs.
When the driver heard it was Yunfeng Road, he chuckled and said, "Why are you heading to that place at night, young man? That's a famous underground casino in City A. The crowd there is complicated, and fights break out all the time. We don't dare go there at night."
"Haha! No worries, just drive on! Once we arrive, you can leave immediately. If anything happens, I'll take responsibility," Fei Hu said confidently, patting his chest. The driver smiled and started the car.
The location wasn't far; it was right at the boundary between the city center and the suburbs, known for its complex crowd. Once the car stopped, the driver urged Fei Hu to pay and quickly disappeared from sight. Was it really that scary? Fei Hu found it amusing.
Around eight o'clock in the evening, the streets were bustling with people and appeared very lively. Fei Hu couldn't see anything wrong as he found the address and walked right in.
What a surprise! This place turned out to be a basement. The sign for Feng Jie's chess room hung right at the entrance. Fei Hu went straight down the stairs, but just as he was about to enter, two oddly dressed individuals suddenly appeared from nowhere. One of them, a chubby guy, reached out his hand and unfriendly said, "We're closed today; please leave!"
"I'm a friend of Feng Jie, she invited me here," Fei Hu replied as he tried to walk inside.
The chubby guy sized up Fei Hu, then urgently said, "No way! I know most of Feng Jie's friends, and I don't recognize you. You can't go in." He stood firmly in the middle of the passageway, looking quite obstinate.
Fei Hu glanced at him helplessly and pulled out his phone to call Bald Zhang. After a short while, Bald Zhang rushed out panting. As soon as he saw Fei Hu, he exclaimed urgently, "Boss, you're finally here! It's chaos inside!"
"Well, they won't let me in, so I called you," Fei Hu explained while pointing at the chubby guy.
Without hesitation, Bald Zhang kicked at him while cursing, "You fatso! You dare block the boss? You've really made something of yourself!" Upon hearing that Fei Hu was their boss, the chubby guy awkwardly scratched his head with an apologetic look on his face.
Bald Zhang reached out and pulled Fei Hu inside. Hey! This corridor twisted and turned, and anyone who had never been here would truly struggle to find their way. At the innermost room, Bald Zhang pushed open a door and rushed in with Fei Hu. As soon as they entered, Fei Hu noticed that there were more than ten thugs inside, each holding a wooden stick, clearly members of Feng Jie’s crew.
In the hall, various gambling tools were laid out, such as slot machines, Pai Gow tables, and scattered Mahjong tiles all over the floor. At the largest table at the back sat five young men around thirty years old. They all shared a common appearance: fit and crew-cut. The one sitting in the middle had a prominent scar on his forehead, which was very noticeable. The others varied in size, while on the opposite side of the table sat Feng Jie, with seven or eight young men standing behind her. Although they had the numerical advantage, Fei Hu felt that their presence was not as intimidating as that of the five men across from them.
As soon as Feng Jie saw Fei Hu, she immediately stood up and said anxiously, "Boss, please have a seat. I’m really sorry to have disturbed you with this matter." Saying this, she moved a chair in front of Fei Hu, showing utmost respect; in this line of work, rules were paramount.
Fei Hu sat down without hesitation, glanced at the group across from him, then turned back to Feng Jie and asked, "What’s going on? Can you tell me?"
Feng Jie leaned down and whispered in Fei Hu's ear, "They came to cause trouble. The guys across are famous gamblers in A City, nicknamed Five Wolves. The one in the middle is Scarred Face; he’s their leader called Poison Wolf. He has some skills and is treacherous and ruthless. Two of my brothers have already been injured by him, and he has wrecked the place. Yet he still won’t let it go; he wants me to return over ten thousand yuan he lost here a year ago."
Upon hearing this, Fei Hu's anger flared up. Although he didn’t know much about gambling rules, he understood that one should accept losses gracefully. Wanting back money lost from a year ago seemed less about the money itself and more about whether one could continue running a gambling establishment.
Fei Hu waved his hand at Feng Jie to step back before looking at Scarred Face with a cold voice saying, "So you’re Poison Wolf. I’ve heard of you in A City; I hear you’ve been in the gambling scene for a few years now. You must know the rules of gambling."
"Hmph! When I was gambling, you probably hadn’t even been born yet. You’re still young; it’s best not to get involved in this kind of thing. If things get physical and you’re not careful, you might end up losing an arm or a leg; this isn’t a joke," Poison Wolf said while twitching his facial muscles, looking quite terrifying.
Fei Hu listened and thought that this person was quite arrogant. However, people like him usually weren’t that impressive; they often tried to intimidate others with bluster. Fei Hu couldn’t help but laugh loudly and said, "You’re like a toad sneezing—your bravado is sky-high! My arms and legs are right here; if you have what it takes, come take them! Just talking without action doesn’t make you any kind of hero."
Poison Wolf intended to scare Fei Hu but didn’t expect this young man to be even more arrogant than himself. He felt somewhat embarrassed and slammed his hand on the table while shouting, "Fine! Let’s settle this one-on-one; whatever happens is up to fate!" With that, he took off his jacket and stepped forward.
Fei Hu coldly smiled and slowly stood up, merely loosening the button at his collar.
