Fei Hu's mind quickly turned, and he suddenly remembered that Sun Li was in the UK. Yes, it must be her calling. This woman, it seems, hasn't completely forgotten about him. Feeling a warmth in his heart, Fei Hu walked toward the living room while excitedly pressing the answer button.
A cheerful laugh from Sun Li came through the receiver: "Dear, Happy Spring Festival! Do you miss me?"
Oh my! How cheesy! Fei Hu didn't expect Sun Li to say that right off the bat. He felt a bit unaccustomed and paused for a moment before smiling and replying, "Not really. What good would that do? You clearly don't care about me at all. It's been so long without a single call, and I can't even reach you."
"Haha! You're still mad. You've misunderstood my good intentions. First of all, I just got here and I'm not used to anything; everything has to start over. Secondly, I don't want to hold you back. Life is actually very short; we should enjoy it and not spend too much time in painful longing. I really like you, but I'm not the person who will walk with you for a lifetime, understand? I believe there must be a girl by your side tonight," Sun Li said as she began to delve into deeper thoughts.
Fei Hu replied somewhat displeased, "There's no girl; it's just me." He casually told a lie, and as soon as the words left his mouth, he began to regret it. Why was he lying? Was this considered a white lie?
"Baby, if you've been without a woman for so long after I've left you, then you're just foolish. Remember this: while you're young, don't be afraid to be wild; when you're old, it'll be too late," Sun Li's tone was light and cheerful. Fei Hu couldn't detect any hint of sadness in her voice; she truly seemed to live freely.
Then Sun Li changed the subject, and they chatted about more pleasant topics over the phone. The more they talked, the happier Fei Hu became; it felt like a joyful reunion after a long separation. But just as he was getting into the groove of things, Sun Li said, "Alright, I don't want to say everything now; I'll save some for next time." With that, she decisively hung up.
Fei Hu touched his slightly warm phone and shook his head helplessly. This woman really knew how to control a man's heart.
When he returned to the living room, it was already eleven o'clock at night. If it weren't for New Year's Eve, many people would have already fallen asleep. Although Ye Cheng still wore a smile on his face, it couldn't hide the fatigue of an elderly person. He began to stare blankly at one spot, clearly trying hard to make it through this New Year's Eve.
Fei Hu glanced at Sister Wu and smiled, saying, "Grandpa, why don't you take a nap? We'll keep watch tonight; it's really just for show anyway. I can guarantee I won't blink an eye tonight."
"I guarantee it too," Ye Xiaofei raised her hand as well, but her eyes hardly left the television screen. Usually busy with work and having little opportunity to watch TV, it seemed she was determined to enjoy herself thoroughly tonight before stopping.
Sister Wu urged Ye Cheng, "You should rest. Tomorrow is the first day of the New Year, and there will definitely be a lot of people at home. If you start dozing off then, it won't be good."
"That's true! At this age, I really feel like my spirit is willing but my body isn't. I'm going to sleep now. If you all are tired, just lock the door and go to sleep too! Just a little gesture is enough," Ye Cheng said as he got up and headed upstairs.
As soon as Ye Cheng left, Fei Hu's phone rang again. He smiled a bit awkwardly and took it out to check; it was Xia Yan calling. He hesitated about whether to answer when Ye Xiaofei smiled at him and said, "Go ahead! It's fine, no need to step outside. We don't have anyone listening anyway."
With Ye Xiaofei saying that, Fei Hu felt that he was making things too mysterious by running in and out. Since they had said so, he decided to just sit still.
Once the call connected, he heard Xia Yan shout, "Are you coming or not? If you're not coming, I'm going to drive over to pick you up. But don't forget, I've had quite a bit to drink tonight. If anything happens, you deal with it."
Fei Hu wanted to say something back, but Xia Yan hung up before he could respond. What was he supposed to do now? Fei Hu looked distressed; it would be terrible if something happened during the New Year.
Ye Xiaofei glanced at Fei Hu and pulled out her car keys from her pocket, tossing them into his lap. "Go! Drive slowly; there's nothing going on here with me and Sister Wu around. Just remember to lock the living room and front door when you leave." It turned out that Ye Xiaofei had heard everything Xia Yan shouted on the phone.
Fei Hu stood there in a daze, unsure whether to go or stay. He felt torn; if he promised someone something, he had to follow through. However, it was New Year's Eve, and no one would cause trouble. Besides, the villa was equipped with numerous cameras; even if a dog ran by, they could tell its gender, let alone a person.
Seeing Fei Hu's dilemma, Sister Wu smiled and said, "Just go! Xiaofei said she and I are here; you can rest easy. But remember to come back early tomorrow morning; there will be many people coming to pay their respects to your brother. Xiaofei and I won't be able to handle it all."
With Sister Wu saying that, Fei Hu felt he couldn't refuse anymore. He grabbed the car keys and quickly ran out of the living room. Watching him disappear into the night, Sister Wu muttered to herself, "This kid really knows how to socialize."
On New Year's Eve, there were very few cars on the road. Occasionally, groups of restless young men and women drove by shouting, adding a unique scenery to this unusual night.
Fei Hu tried his best to control his emotions. He knew clearly that although he hadn't drunk much, driving under the influence was still risky. Plus, he was driving Ye Xiaofei's high-end car; if anything happened, his life would be ruined.
Soon, they arrived at the community where Xia Yan lived. Fei Hu parked the car and hurried upstairs, knocking vigorously on the door. The door was suddenly pulled open, and a cacophony of shouts erupted from inside. Before Fei Hu could grasp the situation, he was pulled inside by Xia Yan.
"Quick, sit down! If you're late, you'll have to drink as a penalty!" came the chaotic voices of women.
Xia Yan pressed Fei Hu down to sit, and he took a glance around the room. On the coffee table was a bubbling hot pot, and four women were seated nearby. They were all about the same age as Xia Yan, but each had a different appearance—some with shoulder-length hair, others with permed hair, and one with a bob cut. Their outfits were almost identical: sexy and alluring. Perhaps due to the cooking and the excited atmosphere, the women were dressed quite lightly. As Fei Hu scanned the room, he was met with an overwhelming view of ample bosoms and fair legs.
"Don't rush to look; these are all prepared just for you. Let me introduce you first," Xia Yan said excitedly, her words flowing freely. Upon hearing this, the other women laughed even more charmingly, clearly unfazed by the situation.
"This is Aju, the beautiful lady with the big hair—my old friend and now my largest shareholder. Don't underestimate her; she's quite skilled at charming men. Be careful not to get swept away," Xia Yan said, laughing along with the others.
The woman referred to as Aju stood up and extended her hand. "Nice to meet you, Bright Boy from Victoria Harbour at Hilton Hotel." Fei Hu quickly stood up and gently shook her soft, fair hand. He couldn't help but think how stunning she was, especially her face; it looked so delicate that it seemed like water would flow out if touched.
"Hey! You can't just stare! You're really weak against temptation. This is Xiao Li, my capable assistant; she's still single and ready to mingle tonight. And this is Sister Li; she's a year older than me but looks much younger. This little one is Xiaohui; she may be small but has a big heart and already has several boyfriends," Xia Yan introduced each person with humor that made everyone laugh.
Fei Hu shook hands with each of them and exchanged New Year greetings before they finally took their seats. The atmosphere felt festive and lively.
Xia Yan patted Fei Hu on the shoulder and said, "I'm glad you came! If you hadn't shown up, I would have been in big trouble. Look at this hot pot waiting for you; no one else can touch it until you arrive. I know you don't have a girlfriend right now, so I couldn't let you spend New Year alone."
Fei Hu understood Xia Yan's intentions without needing her to say more. Aju shifted closer to him and mischievously smiled, "Fei Hu, even though I haven't met you before, I've heard plenty about you from Xia Yan. Now that I've seen you in person, you're not bad at all! At least when Xia Yan asked for someone to come drink with her, you showed up yourself. For your good heart, Xia Yan must kiss you in front of everyone tonight! Let's hear some applause for that!"
The other women seemed to have been waiting for this moment; they clapped and cheered loudly, making Fei Hu feel somewhat embarrassed. In truth, his relationship with Xia Yan had long surpassed mere kisses; these women were just being overly excited.
