As soon as Fei Hu spoke, everyone erupted in noise. Bald Zhang was the first to jump out, pointing at the Middle-Aged Police Officer and shouting, "Just do what you need to do; we don't need you to interfere here!" A few young people, fueled by alcohol, rushed forward and nearly clashed with the police, causing the situation to spiral out of control.
Seeing that things were getting out of hand, Yingzi quickly nudged Fei Hu and said, "You need to stop this; if a fight breaks out, it won't be good. Don't let them say you're assaulting an officer; that's a serious charge."
Fei Hu shouted loudly, "Everyone sit down!" This was his first time giving orders in front of everyone as the leader, but it worked; everyone quietly returned to their seats.
The scene regained its calm for a moment as both sides faced off. At that time, a younger police officer approached Fei Hu and whispered, "I see you're the leader here. Here's the deal: we won't check your vehicle, but you need to come with us to the station for a routine procedure since we've received complaints."
"But this area doesn't seem to fall under your jurisdiction. I feel like something's off," Fei Hu asked the Young Police Officer with some doubt.
"I can see you're smart. Don't overthink this; whether or not you should be managed isn't up to you. Understand? Let's move quickly! If this drags on and your friends get rowdy from drinking, it could escalate into something serious. If that happens, it won't just be us taking you in; it'll be the bureau," the Young Police Officer explained patiently.
Fei Hu thought for a moment and realized he was right. With so many people around, any misstep could lead to an incident of assaulting an officer, which would be a big problem. With that in mind, Fei Hu said, "Alright! I'll go with you."
The Young Police Officer nodded and said to Fei Hu, "It's late; let's get them to disperse quickly before anyone else complains."
Fei Hu turned around and gave A-Lian and Bald Zhang a few instructions before smiling deeply at Yingzi. He then followed the police officer. A-Lian and Bald Zhang stood up in agitation, insisting that Fei Hu shouldn't go with the police. Yingzi hurriedly stepped forward and whispered to A-Lian, "Let him go! Don't stop him; he won't get into trouble. They'll just take a statement and let him go. If you really prevent him from going and anger them, they might check your vehicle. With those knives and sticks inside, how will you explain that? It would be even worse!"
A-Lian and Bald Zhang suddenly understood; how had they not thought of this? They sat down dejectedly, watching as Fei Hu was taken away in the police car, which sped off.
Yingzi quickly instructed Bald Zhang and A-Lian to take everyone away and hide anything in the car. After saying that, she drove off.
Fei Hu was taken directly to the Dongguan Police Station. He thought they would just take his statement and let him go, but unexpectedly, he was brought into a room with an iron door. As soon as he entered, they locked the door from the outside. It was then that Fei Hu realized something was off; this was not a place for taking statements, it was essentially a detention.
Angered, Fei Hu kicked the iron door several times, but no one came to ask what was wrong. He shouted until his throat felt like it was on fire, yet no one paid him any attention. Exhausted, Fei Hu quietly sat in a corner of the room, the cold air making him curl up into a ball. He needed to think of a way out; staying curled up like this would freeze him. So, he stood up and began pacing back and forth in the room. He wanted to call Yingzi, but when he took out his phone, he found that there was no signal at all. Fei Hu felt utterly disappointed.
Back at the villa, Yingzi was about to get out of the car when she suddenly remembered that she should call Fei Hu to see if he had returned. However, when she dialed his number, she heard, "Hello! The number you have dialed cannot be connected." Frustrated, she tried several more times, but each time it was the same. She suddenly felt that something was wrong. If his phone were off, it could be due to a dead battery, but if it couldn't be connected at all, there were only two possibilities: either the signal was bad or it had been blocked.
Fei Hu lived in the city center in an older neighborhood where the population was dense; it was unlikely that there would be poor signal reception. A foreboding thought crossed Yingzi's mind: Fei Hu must not have returned. Had he been detained? The moment she thought of this, Yingzi quickly called her good friend Ni Ling. Fortunately, the call connected quickly. Yingzi anxiously explained the situation to Ni Ling, who paused for a moment before saying, "This situation is a bit special; I can't directly ask them right now. How about we meet at the Dongguan Police Station?"
After hanging up the phone, Yingzi turned her car around and sped toward Dongguan Police Station. She was somewhat familiar with this place; although it was referred to as a station, its jurisdiction was actually quite extensive—it could almost be considered a precinct. This was something Ni Ling had mentioned casually during their chats.
At two in the morning, there were hardly any pedestrians on the road—only cars whizzing by. At this time, Dongguan Police Station was also eerily quiet with no one coming or going; only the guard room at the main entrance had its lights on. A duty guard sat in a chair dozing off while Yingzi gently parked her car beside the entrance.
Before long, a red sedan pulled up next to Yingzi's car. Ni Ling got out wearing casual clothes and opened Yingzi's car door before sitting down inside. She shivered slightly and said, "It's so cold!"
"You know it's cold! But these bastards don’t even care where they’ve locked Fei Hu up; on a night like this, he could freeze to death," Yingzi replied somewhat unhappily.
Ni Ling didn't get angry; instead, she laughed and said, "What are you talking about? I'm just an ordinary person too; your attitude makes it sound like I locked him up myself. Now tell me everything in detail so I can understand."
Only then did Yingzi turn around and punch Ni Ling lightly on the shoulder as she said, "Not long ago, he was wrongfully accused by you guys and just got released a few days ago. Now tonight he's been tricked by those so-called police and brought here again! What did he do to deserve this? I won’t let him suffer any more; whether you handle it officially or help privately, he can't be mistreated or I'll cut ties with you."
"Okay, okay! Look how worried you are! But I have to tell you that this guy is quite charming; don't blame me later for not warning you," Ni Ling said while playfully poking Yingzi's nose with her finger, causing them both to start playfully tussling.
Yingzi then laughed and asked, "Are you saying he's a Heartbreaker? Does he have feelings for someone? Could it be he's planning to confess to you or make a move?"
"Stop being so serious, quickly tell me what happened so I can analyze it. Look at the time! It's not easy to have a night off, and here you are with issues again. What a tough life," Ni Ling said, yawning involuntarily.
Seeing this, Yingzi hurriedly recounted everything that happened tonight from start to finish without holding back, including how Fei Hu and the others got into a fight. Yingzi felt that there was a reason behind this incident, as if there were some causal relationships involved, so she didn't dare to hide anything from Ni Ling.
After listening to Yingzi's account, Ni Ling nodded and said, "This situation is indeed a bit complicated. Even if it's a gang fight, it wouldn't make sense for the Dongguan Police Station to go that far to arrest someone. If they were going to arrest someone, it should have been at the scene of the fight. Why wait until you were eating before taking action? There are many doubts here, which only indicates one thing: the Dongguan Police Station has a purpose in making arrests. Fei Hu might have offended someone."
"How is that possible? However, among the police tonight, there was a chubby middle-aged officer around forty years old who argued with Fei Hu for quite a while. Could he be retaliating against Fei Hu?" Yingzi asked anxiously.
Ni Ling thought for a moment and asked, "Is this person surnamed Xu?"
Yingzi immediately replied, "Yes, his surname is Xu. When Fei Hu got into the car, I heard a police officer call him Director Xu."
Ni Ling nodded, her brow furrowing involuntarily. She couldn't help but say, "Although this person is a police officer, his social background is quite complicated. He knows quite a few unsavory characters, so this matter isn't that simple. It seems Fei Hu is going to suffer again," Ni Ling said while deliberately glancing at Yingzi.
"Don't tell me about that; I called you out here to help think of a solution," Yingzi's tone was very stern.
"Hahaha! It seems you've really been affected. Didn't you say you never liked men in your life? What's going on?" Ni Ling covered her mouth with her hand and laughed brightly.
Yingzi angrily turned her face away, and Ni Ling then said, "Let's go downstairs and ask the guard if Fei Hu has come out. If he's really locked up inside, I'll go find the director first thing in the morning and have him personally handle it. This matter will definitely be resolved; you can rest assured."
Upon hearing this, Yingzi felt relieved and got out of the car with Ni Ling. They arrived at the Dongguan Police Station's Guard Room and saw from afar that the guard was dozing off. However, before they could approach, he woke up. When asked about Fei Hu's situation, he simply said, "I don't know; I haven't seen any strangers come out." He didn't say anything more than that. The guard's attitude made Ni Ling and Yingzi feel increasingly suspicious about the situation.
