The next morning, Fei Hu arrived punctually in the lobby. Just as Helena was starting her shift, she shot Fei Hu a glance and said, "Come to my office for a moment; I need to talk to you."
What could it be? The head of Human Resources is calling me in the early morning—could she be planning to fire me? With a heart full of anxiety, Fei Hu walked into Alina's office. This Sheng Wei is quite impressive; even the head of Human Resources has her own office.
"Close the door and take a seat," Helena said as she opened the window for some fresh air.
Fei Hu gently closed the door and sat down in the chair in front of Helena's desk, watching her busy herself. This woman might be a bit on the heavier side, but she still exudes femininity; at least that's how Fei Hu saw her.
Helena brewed two cups of tea in disposable cups and pushed one toward Fei Hu, saying, "I just bought this new tea; give it a try."
Fei Hu smiled and replied, "You go ahead and speak first! With you looking like that, I really can't drink this tea."
"Hey! You're at the company now; who can do anything to you? The Vice President favors you, and the President thinks highly of you. I'm just a small supervisor; you can come and go as you please, right?" Helena said while giving Fei Hu a sharp look.
She was actually angry with Fei Hu, but it was all Ye Xiaofei's doing. He wanted to take leave, but they wouldn't allow it. Fei Hu smiled awkwardly, took a sip of the tea Helena made for him, and joked, "Miss He, your tea-making skills are quite impressive; it's extremely flavorful."
"Enough with the flattery! This isn't any special skill; anyone can brew tea," Helena said, unable to suppress a smile.
Fei Hu sighed and said, "You know more about this company than I do. I was pulled in to do the hard work. So even though I'm not physically at the company, I'm still working every day—much harder than if I were in the office. I just don't know how Miss Ye communicates with you all. If it's my fault, I'll treat you to tea tonight; that should suffice, right?" Fei Hu said with a smile at Helena.
"You've certainly honed your tongue! I can't argue with you. If you've had the heart these days, making a phone call wouldn't tire you out too much!" Helena said as she snatched the paper cup from Fei Hu's hand and refilled it with water.
Just then, the security team leader knocked and entered. As soon as he came in, he asked Helena, "Miss He! Fei Hu is here for work; I'd like him to take the night shift in the West District. What do you think?"
Upon hearing this, Fei Hu felt his heart sink. Everyone knows that working in the West District is exhausting because there are many vehicles entering and exiting; one has to constantly open and close doors and stand outside at the guard station to register visitors. It’s far worse than working in the lobby—and it's a night shift! Is this team leader trying to make things difficult for himself? Fei Hu's expression darkened.
Helena glanced at the security team leader and said, "I don't have that authority. The President just called me and said that Fei Hu should return to his original position. If you insist on transferring him to the West District, you'll need to call the President yourself!"
"Oh! In that case, forget it. I'll have Zeng Xin adjust things; let Fei Hu take over in the lobby!" The security team leader said before turning around unhappily and leaving.
Helena scolded, "You really think this place is your home. There's a good position, and all his relatives and friends are arranged to take it."
Fei Hu was no fool; he realized that Helena's earlier move was clearly helping him. It seemed that this security captain was not a good person at all, at least a selfish fellow who used his power for personal gain.
Fei Hu stood up and sincerely said to Helena, "Thank you, I'm going to work now."
"Go ahead! Don't forget what you promised me," Helena said with a smile.
Upon arriving in the lobby, Fei Hu felt a sense of nostalgia. Just as he steadied himself, he saw Wang Qian walking in gracefully. Gritting his teeth, Fei Hu greeted her, "Good morning, President Wang."
Wang Qian smiled at Fei Hu and said, "Looks like you slept well last night; you seem quite energetic." After saying that, she threw him a flirtatious smile. My goodness, Fei Hu shivered all over; this woman was truly impressive.
Another day passed in boredom.
Today, he couldn't afford to break his promise. Fei Hu got ready early and headed out. He first called Helena to confirm their meeting place and then took a taxi directly there. Once someone has enjoyed a certain lifestyle, changing it becomes difficult. In the past, Fei Hu mostly walked or took the bus when going out; now, he often took taxis, feeling quite wealthy.
Love Fate Bar was the place Helena chose. Fei Hu felt it was strange; why pick such a place? After all, they weren't dating. Just as he was pondering this, Helena stepped out of a taxi. Tonight, she was dressed very attractively: a light yellow knitted top paired with a black mini skirt. As she walked, her chest swayed enticingly, and her fuller thighs wrapped in nude stockings radiated an alluring glow.
"You did well tonight; you weren't late," Helena said with a bright smile as she quickly approached Fei Hu.
Fei Hu smiled back and said, "Miss He, you look beautiful tonight!"
"Really? I feel like you're flattering me. Come on, let's go inside!" Helena replied as she led the way in. Fei Hu hurried to follow her closely.
It seemed that Helena was familiar with this place; she walked straight to a table by the window and stopped there, inviting Fei Hu to sit down. Then she waved over the waiter and surprisingly ordered a bottle of French red wine. This was the first time Fei Hu had ever drunk something like this and had no idea how expensive it was. When the waiter brought the wine and placed it on the table, he said, "Miss, your wine costs 438 yuan."
Fei Hu's heart sank upon hearing this. Oh my god! That was more than his monthly salary for just a few bottles of wine! But he still forced himself to pull out some crumpled hundred-yuan bills from his pocket. Just as he was trying to smooth out the money, Helena had already taken out 500 yuan from her wallet and handed it to the waiter.
Fei Hu hurriedly said, "I'll pay; I'm treating tonight! Didn't we agree on that?"
"Enough! There's no need to fight over it; next time it's your turn," Helena replied decisively, leaving no room for Fei Hu to argue.
Fei Hu smiled apologetically and put the money back. He imitated Helena's manner, slowly savoring the red wine in his glass. He felt a pang in his heart; spending hundreds of dollars on such bad stuff seemed pointless when he could just have a beer. Was it sour? It had a hint of sweetness. Was it sweet? It seemed to carry a bit of bitterness too, resulting in an odd taste.
However, Helena drank with great poise. She swirled the red wine in her glass, watching as the thick liquid slowly slid down the sides. Then she took a small sip, looking utterly indulgent.
Fei Hu forced himself to focus on the soft music playing in the bar and glanced around. The people drinking red wine here moved almost exactly like Helena; it seemed that this red wine had its signature gestures.
"What are your plans for the future? You won't just be a security guard forever, right?" After a while, Helena finally broke away from the enjoyment of her wine and asked Fei Hu this question.
Fei Hu awkwardly scratched his head. He hadn't really thought about that question. The future seemed a bit uncertain for him. After pausing for a moment, he said, "I haven't really figured it out yet; I honestly don't know what I can do."
"Have you considered staying in City A and not going back home?" When Helena asked this, Fei Hu noticed her face turned slightly red.
Without thinking much, Fei Hu replied casually, "No way, my grandfather is still at home; I need to go back and take care of him."
Helena looked at Fei Hu with a hint of disappointment and said, "It would be fine if someone else at home took care of him. You could send some money back every month as a way to show your filial piety. If that doesn't work out, you could bring him here to live!"
Only then did Fei Hu realize that Helena's words seemed to carry some hidden meaning. He felt he needed to be cautious with his response; otherwise, it could lead to a big misunderstanding. He smiled and said, "As people get older, they don’t want to go anywhere; they just like their old nest. Besides, I don't like City A; I will eventually go back."
"You don't like City A? You're Divine Essence! So many people are trying desperately to get in!" Helena's emotions were a bit heightened.
Fei Hu remained calm and said, "I really don't like City A."
