Ye Xiaofei suddenly found herself in a situation that left everyone at a loss. Fei Hu felt a bit angry; after all, what time was it to still be throwing a tantrum?
It was Ye Cheng who understood his grandson. He walked over to Ye Xiaofei and said softly, "Child, I understand your intentions, but with Fei Hu's condition, it will be very difficult for you to keep up. You need to think this through."
"I understand that logic. Both of us are following Yingzi. If something changes, will Yingzi take care of you or me? Isn't that just stepping from the wolf's mouth into the dog's? I'll do my best not to hold him back; you and Yingzi should leave quickly!" Once Ye Xiaofei said this, Fei Hu finally understood her meaning and almost misjudged her.
Fei Hu quickly said, "Alright then! It's settled. Yingzi, hurry up! Just take a machete and a first aid kit; throw away everything else. Any leftover food should be scattered at the cave entrance."
Yingzi nodded and began to prepare accordingly. Once everyone was ready, they bid farewell.
Fei Hu looked through binoculars at a mountain peak to the west and said to Ye Xiaofei, "There's a mountain over there with wild chickens; let's try our luck. Let's go!" After saying this, he slung the bow and arrows he had made a few days ago over his shoulder and strode forward, while Ye Xiaofei hurriedly followed behind, holding Fei Hu's machete.
Although it was late autumn and not very hot, climbing up through the dense forest without a path was not an easy task. Before long, Ye Xiaofei began to breathe heavily and struggled to keep up. Fei Hu stopped and waited for her to catch up before grabbing her hand and pulling her forward.
When they reached halfway up the mountain, Fei Hu stopped again and softly said, "You lean against this big tree and rest for a while; I'll take a look around."
"Don't wander off too far; I'm a bit scared," Ye Xiaofei panted, her face flushed. Looking at her, Fei Hu wanted to go over and kiss her, but given the current situation, real danger had not yet passed. If the wolf pack attacked, they would soon catch up with Yingzi. He couldn't afford to get lost in romantic feelings here.
Climbing up a nearby tree, Fei Hu raised his binoculars and scanned the forest. After a while, he jumped down from the tree excitedly and said to Ye Xiaofei, "Not far to the left, there's a stream where many wild chickens are drinking water. We should be able to handle this quickly; we can catch up with Yingzi and your grandfather before dark."
"Is that really going to work?" Ye Xiaofei kicked at the bow and arrows beside her dismissively.
Fei Hu laughed and replied, "Whether it works or not, we'll find out soon." After saying this, he bent down to pick up the bow and arrows and moved forward. Ye Xiaofei gently followed behind him; she knew that hunting was essentially about ambushing.
After walking about forty to fifty meters, the sound of flowing water from a mountain stream could be heard. It was evident that the water was very small. Hiding behind a large tree, Fei Hu pointed with his hand and quietly said to Ye Xiaofei, "Look over by the water..."
Ye Xiaofei crawled up on the tree trunk, peeking out. She smiled happily and gave Fei Hu a thumbs-up. From deep within the forest, a small stream flowed out, with lush green water plants on both sides. Among the water plants, a group of brightly colored wild chickens were leisurely foraging for food, some even playing in the water, unaware that danger was nearby.
Leaning against the tree, Fei Hu drew his bow and nocked an arrow in one smooth motion. He first aimed at the wild chicken at the top, which seemed overly excited and had strayed from the group. With a strong pull of his arms, the wooden bow creaked as he drew it back to a nearly full moon shape. When he released his grip, the arrow flew out with a whoosh, striking the wild chicken just as it stretched its head out. Due to the weight of the wooden arrow, the wild chicken flapped its wings a couple of times before falling silent.
With one successful shot, Fei Hu's confidence surged. He observed that his skills had not diminished and decided to continue without hesitation. Whoosh! Several more arrows flew out, and one by one, his companions fell. One particularly beautiful wild chicken with a long tail seemed to sense something amiss; it let out a sharp cry and took off into the air. This caused the others to follow suit. Just as Fei Hu gritted his teeth and prepared to shoot another arrow into the sky, he heard a loud crack—his bow had snapped in half.
Fei Hu shook his head in disappointment. Ye Xiaofei cheerfully patted him on the shoulder and said, "That was great! Why are you shaking your head? You got five!"
Fei Hu cut a branch and strung several wild chickens together with the bowstring before carrying them away. Ye Xiaofei followed behind him, bouncing like a child. On their way back down the slope, they quickly arrived at the cave entrance.
Fei Hu wasted no time; he chopped up several wild chickens and tossed them near the cave's edge as well as at the forest's edge. Then he wiped the blood off his knife with dirt. Pulling Ye Xiaofei along, he dashed toward Yingzi and the others.
As they walked, Ye Xiaofei glanced back at the cave, feeling somewhat nostalgic. She couldn't help but remember that windy night when this man holding her hand had stirred her heart while pretending nothing had happened. She despised such lecherous men. However, this man was different from others who had inappropriate thoughts about her; there was a powerful force about him that she couldn't avoid, even stirring feelings within her that she had never experienced before.
Fei Hu quickened his pace as if being chased by wolves from behind. Ye Xiaofei gritted her teeth and pushed herself to run faster. Her sweat soaked her clothes; her two full breasts pressed against her shirt made her extremely uncomfortable. She didn't understand why walking had become so difficult for her. Suddenly, she recalled when she first started working at Sheng Wei and encountered that lecherous security guard named Fei Hu in the elevator; just thinking about it made her blush even now.
"Ouch!" Ye Xiaofei suddenly screamed as she lost focus while lost in thought and stepped on a rock, twisting her injured foot from a few days ago.
Hearing her cry, Fei Hu quickly stopped. Goodness! Ye Xiaofei looked as if she had just emerged from water, beads of sweat clinging to her hair tips; her shirt clung tightly to her body accentuating her curves even more. Fei Hu quickly diverted his gaze and crouched down to examine Ye Xiaofei's foot gently, saying softly, "It's nothing; you just twisted it a bit. Hang in there; we'll reach the top soon."
Breathing heavily, Ye Xiaofei replied angrily, "I didn't say anything was wrong! Let's go!"
Oh my! This woman has quite the temper. It's your own fault, so why are you getting angry at me? Although Fei Hu thought this, he still squatted down and said softly, "Come on! I'll carry you."
Ye Xiaofei hesitated a bit, but Fei Hu didn't care. He stepped back, wrapped his arms around her, and firmly lifted Ye Xiaofei onto his back, shaking her a little before quickly climbing towards the mountain top.
As soon as Ye Xiaofei was on Fei Hu's back, she felt like she had died; her whole body slumped down, pressing her chest against Fei Hu's back. She was completely unaware of it; she was just too tired.
The softness of Ye Xiaofei against him made Fei Hu feel comfortable all over. He was born to carry women; running through the streets of Hong Kong with Wang Qian on his back, he couldn't escape the company of beautiful women even in the forest.
After a short run, Ye Xiaofei actually fell asleep on his back, which put Fei Hu in a bit of a bind. Not only did he have to hurry along, but he also had to be careful with Ye Xiaofei on his back because if he wasn't careful, she might fall off.
In her sleep, Ye Xiaofei murmured softly and then climbed up a bit, wrapping her arms around Fei Hu's neck tightly as if to make herself more comfortable for sleeping.
The sensation of their skin touching was wonderful, especially with Ye Xiaofei's delicate and smooth skin on his arms, like warm jade and satin. Fei Hu closed his eyes in enjoyment; however, this made his breathing feel a bit strained while walking.
"What’s going on?" A voice came from ahead. Fei Hu hurriedly looked up and realized he had reached the mountain top. There sat Ye Cheng next to a big tree, panting heavily, while Yingzi looked at him curiously.
Fei Hu's legs went weak as he bent down, but Ye Xiaofei remained sound asleep on his back, her legs refusing to touch the ground. Yingzi walked over and patted her shoulder, saying, "Wake up! The wolf is coming!"
"Where?" Ye Xiaofei opened her eyes and hurriedly stood up, grabbing a branch from the bushes. She looked quite funny doing so. Yingzi laughed, and so did Fei Hu, which left Ye Cheng gasping for breath from laughter.
As Ye Xiaofei slowly understood what was happening, she shot an angry glare at Yingzi. Her little face turned red as she sat down on the ground and began to hit the branch against the ground vigorously. It seemed that sleeping on Fei Hu's back felt really good; she still hadn't had enough sleep.
