In the middle of the night, both fires had gone out, and the cool mountain breeze blew against him, sending a chill through Fei Hu. Although he was strong, he couldn't help but shiver and sat up.
Suddenly, he noticed someone crouching at the cave entrance, looking as if they wanted to leave but were too afraid to do so. Upon closer inspection, he realized it was Ye Xiaofei. What was she doing here at this hour instead of sleeping? Fei Hu suddenly remembered that she might need to relieve herself but was hesitant to go out alone in the dark.
Fei Hu quietly got up and walked over, whispering, "Are you trying to go to the bathroom?"
Startled, Ye Xiaofei turned around and saw Fei Hu. Feeling a bit embarrassed, she nodded slightly, her voice barely above a whisper.
"Come on, I'll go with you," Fei Hu said before moving forward. However, in the forest, where the trees were dense, it was pitch black. While Fei Hu had experience navigating such darkness, Ye Xiaofei was not as familiar. After taking just a couple of steps, she either bumped into a tree or stepped on a rock, letting out a small yelp before freezing in place.
Fei Hu hurried back and softly asked, "What happened? Why aren't you moving?"
After a moment, Ye Xiaofei spoke with a quivering voice, "I think I twisted my ankle. I can't walk. It's all your fault for moving so fast in this darkness; it's no wonder I twisted my ankle."
Hey! Now it was his fault? Fei Hu shook his head and squatted down in front of her. "Let me carry you. Once we get inside the cave, I'll check your ankle. It's too dark to see anything here."
At that moment, Ye Xiaofei obediently climbed onto Fei Hu's back without saying a word. He supported her with his hands under her hips, and instantly felt her softness pressing against his back. A wave of comfort surged through him like electricity; he really didn't want to move but wished he could just stand there with her until dawn.
"Why aren't you moving? Can't you see where you're going?" Ye Xiaofei, who seemed a bit anxious now, asked from his back; perhaps she was feeling an urgent need.
Startled, Fei Hu stammered, "Oh, I'm just deciding which way to go."
He found a patch of ground with almost no grass and gently set Ye Xiaofei down. "If your ankle hurts, lean against a tree and don't go too far; this spot is fine."
"Got it. Turn around," Ye Xiaofei instructed. After taking just a few steps away from him, she crouched down; it seemed her ankle was quite hurt.
Fei Hu thought to himself that in such darkness, it was unnecessary for her to be so cautious. Still, he turned his back to her as requested.
After quite some time had passed and unable to wait any longer, Fei Hu finally asked, "Are you done?"
"I'm annoyed. You want me to be convenient, but you're rushing me. What does that mean?" Ye Xiaofei said, a bit unhappy.
Fei Hu thought to himself, maybe I'm too close to her, and she's feeling a bit shy. After all, everyone has their moments, and she is a young lady of status. With that in mind, he said to Ye Xiaofei, "I'll wait for you up ahead. Call me when you're ready, and I'll come back to carry you, okay?" Fei Hu didn't understand why he was being so nice to this woman; was it just because she was the goddess in his heart?
"Alright! But you can't go too far," Ye Xiaofei replied, her voice a bit timid.
Fei Hu had barely walked away when he heard Ye Xiaofei call out, "Come here, I'm ready."
Just as he was about to turn back, a mischievous idea popped into Fei Hu's mind. This woman often bullied him; tonight, why not scare her a little and see if she dares to act so arrogantly again? With that thought, he crouched down.
"Fei Hu, where are you? Why aren't you speaking?" Ye Xiaofei's voice was filled with urgency as she began to feel her way back.
Fei Hu chuckled inwardly: "So you can be scared too. Don't think just because you're the CEO that you can bully others at will."
As Ye Xiaofei felt her way along, she bumped her head against a tree with a loud thud. Fei Hu heard the impact and felt a pang of sympathy. Just as he was about to get up, he heard Ye Xiaofei angrily shout, "You dead Fei Hu! Don't ever think you'll see me again! If you do, I'll kick you a hundred times until I kick you to death! Ouch!" Just as she was venting her anger, she suddenly screamed and fell to the ground with a thud.
Fei Hu thought it was enough fun for now; any more would be going too far. He quickly got up and hurried over to where Ye Xiaofei had fallen, pretending to be concerned as he asked, "What happened?" He reached out to grab her arm to help her up.
Unexpectedly, Ye Xiaofei threw a fit and forcefully shook off his hand while cursing, "Where have you been?"
Ye Xiaofei's strength was considerable; Fei Hu's hand slipped away due to the force. As a result of inertia, his hand inadvertently grabbed onto Ye Xiaofei's chest. He had touched something soft and ample, which stirred up quite the hornet's nest. Ye Xiaofei shouted furiously, "Are you trying to die?" Her voice echoed ominously in the quiet valley.
If this were heard by Ye Cheng and Yingzi inside the cave, it would be disastrous. Fei Hu felt his temper flare and coldly replied, "What exactly do you want? Why are you shouting so loudly? I didn't do it on purpose; it's so dark I can't see anything. Do you really think I'm your servant?"
Fei Hu's outburst caught Ye Xiaofei off guard. Accustomed to being willful and always directing her anger at others, she found it hard to handle when someone fired back at her. She quietly sniffled and said, "I told you not to go too far away earlier, but you didn't listen. So I..."
"No, I was just taking care of something myself up front; that's why I came back late," Fei Hu interrupted her. He was surprised by his own ability to lie so easily; it just came out without thinking.
"I'm sorry then; I misunderstood you," Ye Xiaofei said as she put away her temper and felt around to stand up. Fei Hu quickly stepped forward and helped lift her from the waist. As he withdrew his hand inadvertently brushed against her softness again; this time he felt no guilt—he could only blame her for being so well-endowed.
Ye Xiaofei didn't say anything but was still a bit angry as she felt her way forward, signaling that she didn't want Fei Hu to carry her. Her proud nature ignited Fei Hu's impulse; he suddenly stepped forward and bent down to pick Ye Xiaofei up horizontally. This action made Ye Xiaofei gasp in surprise as she urgently asked, "What are you doing?"
"You hurt your foot, let me carry you!" Fei Hu said as he groped his way forward.
In his arms, Ye Xiaofei paused for a moment, then reached out and draped one arm over Fei Hu's neck. This made it much easier for Fei Hu to carry her. Ye Xiaofei gently closed her eyes and leaned her head against Fei Hu's chest. With the moonlight filtering through the gaps in the leaves, Fei Hu saw Ye Xiaofei's long eyelashes resting above her beautiful big eyes, which were slightly closed. Her lips were sensual and full, and he really wanted to kiss her, but now was not the time; it felt a bit like taking advantage of her.
When they returned to the cave, Fei Hu noticed Yingzi had turned over, facing the other way. It seemed she was awake; it was very likely she had heard Ye Xiaofei's loud cry just now.
Fei Hu sat beside Ye Xiaofei, catching his breath. Normally, carrying one or two pounds of goods wouldn't tire him out, but tonight, carrying a woman left him gasping for air.
Ye Xiaofei looked shy, though it was too dark to see the blush on her face. Thinking about what had just happened made her feel extremely embarrassed. First, she had been attacked by a guy wearing an eye mask, and then he carried her back. If her grandfather and Yingzi found out about this, it would be such a disgrace! However, being held against the man's broad chest felt really comfortable; she was somewhat reluctant to leave.
"Do you want me to take a look at it?" Fei Hu asked, feeling a bit more relaxed.
Ye Xiaofei lowered her head shyly and softly replied, "No need! I can't feel the pain if I don't move; let's talk about it tomorrow!" After saying that, she turned over and lay down on the hay beside Fei Hu, curling up and falling asleep.
Ye Xiaofei's action surprised Fei Hu greatly. Since they had been living in the cave, Ye Xiaofei always slept between her grandfather and Yingzi. Now she suddenly changed positions to sleep between Ye Cheng and him, indicating that Ye Xiaofei had lowered her guard and increased her trust in him.
The night was already deep; the moon hung over the western mountain peak, signaling that the night had passed. Fei Hu tossed and turned restlessly, feeling anxious. If it weren't for this fight that seemed to have no reason for him, how wonderful it would be to spend time with Ye Xiaofei like this.
Suddenly, a long howl echoed through the valley, reverberating between the peaks. Then came another howl, followed by another; it sounded terrifying. Fei Hu sprang up, and inside the cave, Ye Cheng and Yingzi hurriedly got up as well. Ye Xiaofei felt like she had just fallen asleep; with a terrified expression on her face, she asked, "What is that sound?"
Fei Hu coldly replied, "It seems like it's calling a pack of wolves."
