In Ye Cheng's study, the doors and windows were tightly shut. Ye Xiaofei, Sister Wu, and Yingzi sat at the table, while Ye Cheng wore a displeased expression. With his hands behind his back, he had paced back and forth in the room several times. Seeing him like this, no one dared to speak.
Sister Wu glanced at Ye Xiaofei, clearly indicating that in this situation, only Ye Xiaofei would dare to speak up. Although Ye Cheng had a temper, he had always been protective of his granddaughter. No matter what mistakes Ye Xiaofei made, he would suppress his anger and patiently guide her. This was the essence of family; blood is thicker than water.
“Grandpa, don’t just walk around. Just tell us what to do, and we’ll follow your lead. Besides, don’t you have a few reliable people under you? There’s no need to worry so much,” Ye Xiaofei couldn’t help but speak up. The atmosphere in the room eased considerably; it had been tense to the point of being frightening. When Yingzi returned, she had sat there without daring to say a word.
Ye Cheng stopped pacing and sighed, saying, “We need to take action. The day after tomorrow, I will personally invite a few elders from the gang to quickly convene a meeting of our members to reduce the power of those two scoundrels. If we delay any longer, they will truly force me out, and the century-old foundation of the Dragon Tiger Gang will be destroyed.”
Hearing Ye Cheng speak, Yingzi seized the opportunity to ask, “Grandpa, what exactly happened that has put us in such a passive position?”
Ye Cheng sat down and said dejectedly, “Yesterday during the day, that rascal Ye Wu gathered over a hundred subordinates and took control of several territories that I originally managed. Since it was daytime, I was worried about disturbing public order and attracting police attention, so I ordered my men not to resist and to withdraw completely. What’s worse is that Ye Wei has even defaulted on the monthly payments for the villa. It seems they have colluded to force me out.”
Upon hearing this, Yingzi understood why Ye Cheng was so angry. She immediately said, “It’s okay; I’ll go with you. Are we driving or taking a bus?”
“The roads in the mountainous area aren’t very good for buses; I doubt they can make it there. We should just drive our own cars. However, you need to prepare well since it’s a bit far. Sister Wu, please hurry and prepare eight generous gifts for us to take the day after tomorrow,” Ye Cheng said while contemplating.
Suddenly, Ye Xiaofei stood up and exclaimed loudly, “No way! I want to go too! It’s such a long journey; I’m a bit worried.”
“Brother, we should take more people with us! Just in case something happens on the road, it would be good to have someone to rely on. How about bringing A-Dong along? He is loyal and quite capable,” Sister Wu said with concern etched on her face, fearing for Ye Cheng’s safety.
Ye Cheng waved at Ye Xiaofei to sit down and then asked Yingzi, “What do you think we should do about this?”
"Grandpa, this time we can't bring too many people. Otherwise, we'll be too conspicuous and risk exposing our whereabouts. As for your safety, I've already arranged for my friend to help us. With him around, there shouldn't be much of a problem," Yingzi said decisively, sounding very confident.
Ye Cheng's face lit up upon hearing this. He smiled and asked, "Is your friend the one who left our house without saying goodbye last time?"
Yingzi nodded, looking quite proud.
"Great! I've seen that young man's skills one night; he's indeed exceptional. With him and you together, I feel very reassured. What about Xiaofei? I'd like to bring her along too so that she can meet these old-timers in our group. If one day I'm not around anymore, I can rest easy knowing Xiaofei will have their care," Ye Cheng said with a deep sense of sadness as he spoke.
Ye Xiaofei walked over and hugged Ye Cheng's shoulder, saying, "Grandpa, what are you talking about? You won't leave us! You'll always be with me, right?"
"You little girl, does that mean I would become immortal? At that point, you should call me an old monster," Ye Cheng laughed heartily. Sister Wu and Yingzi exchanged smiles, and everyone felt extremely happy.
The next morning, Yingzi went directly to find Ye Wei and asked to borrow Fei Hu for a personal favor. She mentioned it would take at least three to five days, or even more than ten days. Yingzi also stated that she would cover Fei Hu's salary during this time. Upon hearing this, Ye Wei immediately laughed and said, "It's just one security guard, not ten or eight. You're the old man's friend; you can use him as you wish. Whenever you're done with him, just send him back. As for the money, let's not mention it; talking about money hurts feelings."
Yingzi walked out of Ye Wei's office smiling. She didn't expect things to go so smoothly. In the lobby on the first floor, she happened to run into Fei Hu on duty. Yingzi smiled and said, "I've arranged your leave for you. Tomorrow afternoon, I'll pick you up from where you live. You don't need to come here for work; just rest at home in the morning."
Fei Hu nodded and replied with a smile, "Alright! It's great to have a consultant like you; getting a leave is so easy."
Throughout the afternoon, Fei Hu couldn't focus on his work at the company. He was thinking about what might happen while accompanying Yingzi this time. Would it be like with Wang Qian? Would Yingzi stay in the same room with him or even share a bed? Just thinking about it made Fei Hu feel quite embarrassed. If it really came to that, would he dare to make a move on Yingzi? He felt uncertain; this woman was different from others and gave him an indescribable feeling.
As the end of the workday approached, the security team leader came over and patted Fei Hu on the shoulder. "Brother, you've become quite popular now; you're being borrowed every day! How am I supposed to be the team leader like this? Here's the deal: tonight you can cover my shift until midnight since you don't have to come in tomorrow anyway. What do you say? Consider it helping me out; we really need the manpower."
Fei Hu initially wanted to refuse because it felt like working for free without any extra pay. But thinking about how he could sleep in tomorrow morning made him agree readily: "Alright! No problem; just arrange tonight's work."
"Hey! You're such a good brother. Here's the deal: tonight, you just need to stay here at work until everyone in the building has left. After that, lock up the elevator and the stairwell doors. Remember, make sure everyone has left; don't accidentally lock anyone inside. Generally, by after ten o'clock, everyone should be gone. If that's the case, just lock the lobby door and hand the keys over to the duty manager at the main entrance, and then you can leave early," the captain said with a joyful expression, making detailed arrangements.
Fei Hu listened carefully. He knew that this job seemed simple, but if he wasn't attentive, mistakes could happen. He didn't want to mess this up, especially since he had never worked a night shift before.
As soon as the captain left, Helena arrived. She seemed to be in a good mood today and smiled from a distance, saying, "Looks like you've become quite the busy person! You have to accompany someone on a business trip? After all these years, it's my first time hearing that security personnel are needed for business trips. It seems like this is becoming a trend in our company—one after another."
Fei Hu laughed and replied, "What can I say? Our security provides a sense of safety."
"You're just being vain! If other security personnel provide safety, that's one thing, but you, Fei Hu, are different. Your eyes are always wandering around women; it's as if you wish they weren't wearing clothes. With someone like you around women, do they really feel safe?" Helena said while bursting into laughter.
Oh my! So this is how I appear in other women's eyes? It seems only Yingzi thinks highly of me. Whatever! I'm just this way. Fei Hu grinned at Helena and said, "A man who isn't bad won't be loved by women. I'm not at that stage yet because no woman loves me right now; therefore, I'm not bad."
Helena glanced around the lobby to ensure no one was listening before moving closer to Fei Hu and teasingly said, "You’re not bad? The fact that Wang Qian likes you means she must have sensed that same flirtatious vibe in you that she has herself. That's why she took you to Hong Kong for some fun. Am I right?"
Wow! This woman usually seems like the most straightforward person in the company; I didn't expect her imagination to be so rich. And she's almost spot on with her guess! But who would admit to such things? So Fei Hu pretended to be angry and widened his eyes, saying, "What are you talking about? You can't joke about such things! If this gets out, my entire reputation will be ruined! And do you know I'm still a virgin?"
As soon as those words left his mouth, he couldn't help but laugh first.
Helena playfully punched him on the back and said, "Whether you're a virgin or not is none of my business. I know you're actually a hidden big flirt who will harm countless innocent women." After saying that, as if still not satisfied, she kicked him on the leg as she left, causing Fei Hu to grimace in pain.
This Divine Essence made him sound much worse than just a flirt; he felt like a pervert instead. Fei Hu thought about this and found it both amusing and infuriating.
