Tears cannot bring back the lost cash. Fei Hu suppressed his inner anger and softly asked Xia Yan, "Why are you playing this? Can't you see? Three Aces, three Kings, and even three Queens. Isn't this hand too extreme? And it's your last round when everyone has almost no money left."
Upon hearing this, Xia Yan suddenly wiped away her tears. Due to the force, her false eyelashes fell off. Ignoring it, she turned around, grabbed her handbag from behind, and pulled out the three Queens she had brought with her. She looked at them from left to right and even rubbed them with her hands, finding nothing unusual.
Xia Yan said with a sobbing voice, "What's wrong with these cards? You're just talking nonsense."
"Are you stupid? If there was something wrong with those cards, how could you have brought them out?" Fei Hu shook his head helplessly.
As soon as Xia Yan heard this, she tore the cards into pieces and shouted at Fei Hu, "If I'm stupid, then so be it! It's my own money that I lost; it's none of your business!"
Damn it, I haven't even received any gratitude for my kindness! Fei Hu felt his anger rising. He slammed his fist against the back of the seat and shouted loudly, "Then why did you bring me here? Let me go!"
At midnight, this shout sounded a bit terrifying. The few pedestrians on the road quickened their pace and soon disappeared from sight.
You... I'm worse than you... Xia Yan suddenly started the car and slammed on the gas pedal. The car roared forward like an arrow. Fei Hu thought to himself that this woman must have gone crazy from losing money. But he didn't want to die; he hadn't even tasted what a woman was like yet. Dying like this would be such a waste! He couldn't help but shout loudly, "Xia Yan, you crazy woman! I haven't even slept with a woman yet, and you're taking me to die!"
With a screech, a strong smell of rubber wafted in through the window due to the wind. Without wearing a seatbelt, Fei Hu's body lurched forward, almost hitting his forehead against the windshield. His heart nearly jumped out of his throat, but the car finally came to a stop.
Fei Hu glanced at Xia Yan from the corner of his eye and saw her gripping the steering wheel tightly with an angry expression as if she wanted to kill someone. He was genuinely afraid of this woman; staying still was the safest option. If she exploded again, whether or not he had slept with a woman was trivial; he wouldn't even get to see his grandfather again.
Suddenly, Xia Yan turned around and laughed at Fei Hu, "What did you just shout? You haven't slept with a woman yet? Then tonight I'll take care of that for you so you won't regret it one day." Xia Yan laughed so hard that she bent over backward, and the tears she laughed out were more than those she had cried earlier.
Fei Hu quietly asked Xia Yan, "You can't be really crazy, can you? You look scarier than Miss Wang from the casino just now." Indeed, her made-up face looked somewhat terrifying after being drenched in tears under the night sky.
"Don't worry; I'm not crazy and I won't die. Even if I have to die, I want to find a stinky man to take with me," Xia Yan said through gritted teeth, not knowing why this man made her feel such hatred.
Fei Hu did not dare to ask. The two sat in the car in silence for a while. Xia Yan seemed to have calmed down and gently asked Fei Hu, "You said there was something off about tonight's gambling game. What exactly was wrong? Why couldn't I see it?"
This woman, gentle like water at times and fiery like fire at others, was truly hard to handle. Fei Hu shot a glare at Xia Yan and replied irritably, "The problem lies with the dealer. Think carefully about what happened, and you'll understand. That three-point trick was clearly meant to confuse everyone’s attention while they made their moves. Tell me, how many people were actually focused on the cards at that moment?"
Fei Hu's words enlightened Xia Yan, and she muttered to herself, "Could it be that I fell into Ye Wu's trap set by that ugly rogue?"
"What do you mean? Can you explain in more detail?" Fei Hu quickly pressed for more information.
Xia Yan wiped her somewhat frightening face with a tissue, sighed, and began to explain. It turned out that Xia Yan ran a massage parlor. In the service industry, women were essential, and Xia Yan herself was quite attractive. Having previously worked in this line of business, she found it easy to succeed, and her reputation quickly spread.
This world is not short of wealthy individuals; take Chen, whom Fei Hu had beaten up last time. He had taken a liking to Xia Yan's beauty. However, Xia Yan believed that even though she was a woman of the world, she still valued her own preferences. The era of relying on rich men was behind her; she didn't lack money. But Chen was like an adhesive plaster—once stuck, he was hard to remove.
Although he was already married, he had no shame. He sent flowers, money, clothes, took her out to dinner, and even tried to book her every chance he got. He invested a lot of effort into winning her over, but Xia Yan remained unmoved. In desperation, he tricked her into a nightclub; after two drinks, he attempted to force himself on her. Unexpectedly, Xia Yan kicked him away with great force and ran off. Unwilling to give up, he chased her onto the street where he happened to run into the meddlesome Fei Hu, who promptly beat him half to death.
With money being able to move mountains, the humiliated Chen sought revenge on Xia Yan the next day by hiring hooligans who stormed into her massage parlor and wreaked havoc. This left Xia Yan furious and desperate for help. Through friends' assistance, she brought in Ye Wu, who proved to be quite capable and quickly resolved the situation. At that moment, Xia Yan admired him greatly.
However, just as she got rid of one troublemaker, another appeared in the form of Ye Wu. He immediately launched his advances toward her with clear intentions. Despite Xia Yan's repeated polite refusals, Ye Wu insisted on inviting her to play cards. This time she could not decline; she knew these people wouldn't work for free—she might as well lose some money to him.
In the first round, Xia Yan found herself winning over five thousand dollars despite trying to lose. The second round also ended in her favor. But by the third round, luck was no longer on her side; she intended to lose a couple of tens of thousands as a parting gift for Ye Wu and cut ties with him completely. Yet that night, inexplicably, she lost over fifty thousand dollars—three of which she borrowed from Ye Wu on the spot.
A strong-willed woman can sometimes be too impulsive; Xia Yan personally arranged a high-stakes game with Ye Wu that night and played until dawn without leaving a single cent from her hundred thousand dollars.
After sleeping for five or six days straight without rest, Xia Yan finally couldn't hold back any longer and withdrew the last fifty thousand from her savings account. At this point, she thought of Fei Hu—partly because she wanted him to bolster her courage in case she won big but wasn't paid; partly because she wanted Ye Wu to see that she already had a boyfriend and hoped he would stop bothering her—which led to tonight's scene.
Xia Yan finished speaking, but Fei Hu remained silent. His mind raced as he processed everything; it seemed that Ye Wu had set a trap for Xia Yan, and this foolish woman had walked right into it. Now that she had lost money, what good would throwing a tantrum do?
"Why aren't you speaking? Am I really that despicable, beyond redemption? You haven't even said a comforting word," Xia Yan said, sounding as gentle as a meek little lamb.
Fei Hu laughed and scolded, "Fool, you've fallen into their carefully laid trap."
"That's impossible! I'm not the only one losing money. Miss Wang lost just as much tonight, and she even lost her body for you lecherous men to see," Xia Yan still refused to give up.
Fei Hu wanted to argue with Xia Yan a bit more, but the moment he turned his head, he froze. He saw four people walking along the sidewalk not far from where they had parked. The woman in front looked somewhat like Miss Wang, who had run away after losing money at the casino tonight. Walking alongside her, chatting and laughing, was Ye Wu. Behind them were two blonde men keeping a few steps back, one of whom was Little Four, holding a bag that seemed quite heavy.
When Xia Yan noticed Fei Hu turning his head in silence, she lightly punched him and said, "What are you staring at? Don't tell me there's another woman walking around naked!"
Fei Hu whispered, "Turn around and don't make a sound."
Xia Yan thought Fei Hu was just trying to be mysterious and initially ignored him. However, curiosity got the better of her, and she turned around. She was stunned. Just then, the group walked past the car they were in. Fortunately, there was a large tree by the roadside blocking the light, so Ye Wu and the others passed by without noticing the people in the car.
With the window open, their conversation drifted in. Miss Wang was playfully saying to Ye Wu, "Brother Ye! I did a great job tonight; you can't forget about it!"
"Hahaha, how could I? I'll make it up to you in a bit," Ye Wu leered as he grabbed Miss Wang's backside.
"I don't want that; I want what they are holding," Miss Wang said, pointing at Little Four.
"You greedy woman! All you care about is money. I'll make you regret it later," Ye Wu laughed as the group entered a small alley ahead.
