Yingzi had been coming home late these days. Following the clues given by Ye Cheng and the description of the Young Man, she searched every street and alley by the river, but there was no sign of such a person. What puzzled her even more was that when she investigated the source of the medicine Ye Cheng had taken, it seemed she was getting closer to an answer. However, overnight, all the doctors and pharmacists who treated Ye Cheng had resigned and disappeared without a trace.
"What? Are you saying Dr. Mao and the others have all quit? This is a conspiracy, a huge conspiracy! They must have sensed our actions and made their move first," Ye Cheng said angrily as he paced around the room after hearing Yingzi's report.
Sister Wu approached him gently and said, "Among the three maids in our villa, I feel like one of them might be working for them. This Xiaojun has been very disobedient lately, acting as if she doesn't care at all. Should we replace all of them?"
Upon hearing this, Ye Cheng's face twitched unnaturally. He replied irritably, "There's no need to replace them! Xiaofei will be back tomorrow. The new ones will need time to get familiar with Zeng Xin. We just need to be careful when we talk from now on."
Sister Wu felt a bit confused. This was not like Ye Cheng's usual character; the maids wouldn't dare to act out of line. Was there something else going on? Not daring to think further, Sister Wu lowered her head and said, "Alright then! We won't replace them." After saying that, she turned and left the room.
Ye Cheng walked back and forth a few times until his mood gradually calmed down. He then said to Yingzi, "This private clinic may not be large, but they have a good reputation for treating illnesses. Dr. Mao knows my health condition very well, so she has treated me for almost all my ailments. The Fast-Acting Heart Rescue Pill was also prescribed by her, and I remember clearly that a girl named Xiao Li brought me the medicine."
Yingzi sighed and said, "The first time I went there, they were all present. But when I went back the next day, the boss told me that both of them had quit. When I asked too many questions, they wouldn’t say anything. However, their resignations were not voluntary; someone must have done something behind the scenes."
"Well! It seems we've hit a dead end with this lead on the medicine. For now, we can only search for that Young Man. Let's take a passive approach; eventually, they will reveal themselves," Ye Cheng said with a calm smile, appearing confident.
Yingzi nodded with a smile.
In Chairman Ye Wei's office, bursts of raucous laughter could be heard. Wang Qian was sitting on Ye Wei's desk, her curvy figure accentuated by a fitted black skirt. One bare foot rested on the armrest of Ye Wei's swivel chair while he sat there grinning lewdly. One of his chubby hands roamed over Wang Qian's fair thigh until suddenly he slipped it under her skirt.
Wang Qian laughed lightly and swatted Ye Wei's hand away. "Stop it! It's broad daylight; we're in the office—mind your influence," she said while glancing toward the door.
"Hahaha! This is my territory; I can do whatever I want," Ye Wei replied as his hand moved back toward Wang Qian's thigh.
Wang Qian smiled and jumped off the desk to put on another high heel from the floor before sitting down in a chair opposite Ye Wei. She then asked, "Didn't you want to talk to me about something? Is this what you wanted to discuss?"
"What's wrong with that?" Ye Wei felt slightly annoyed after being rejected by Wang Qian earlier.
"Sure, but it's better to discuss this at night; what do you think?" Wang Qian said playfully as she shook her ample chest and laughed. Hearing this made Ye Wei very happy; he smiled broadly in response.
After laughing, Ye Wei stood up and pondered for a moment before saying to Wang Qian, "Our young lady studying in the United States is coming back tomorrow. The old man wants her to be the Executive President at Sheng Wei. I'm afraid..."
"Stop right there. What good does it do to tell me this? I may hold the title of Vice President, but have you given me any real power? I'm just a Vice President focused on logistics," Wang Qian interrupted Ye Wei. After a moment of agitation, she stormed out, slamming the door behind her.
Ye Wei angrily cursed, "Damn woman, with such a temper, just wait until I deal with you in bed."
In the lobby on the first floor, Fei Hu had just sat down and was about to enjoy the air conditioning. He had been summoned by the security captain all morning and was busy without a moment's rest because he had received an Award and a prize of two hundred yuan. Just then, a graceful girl walked in through the revolving door, dressed in sportswear and moving with a clean and efficient demeanor. One glance at her figure revealed that she was well-trained.
As the girl passed by Fei Hu, he snapped back to reality. He didn't recognize her and saw no identification on her. Fei Hu immediately shouted, "Stop! What are you doing here?" Perhaps due to his urgency and having just finished his tasks, he spoke with a bit of an edge.
The girl abruptly halted and turned around with an annoyed expression. She glanced at Fei Hu but said nothing and turned to leave. This ignited Fei Hu's anger; clearly, she was treating him like air. Since that was the case, he decided not to let her pass. What if she turned out to be another troublemaker like the bald guy from a few days ago?
Fei Hu quickly stepped in front of the girl, blocking her path. He extended his hand and said, "Show me your ID. Without it, you can't go up."
The girl shot him a disdainful glare and suddenly swung her left hand toward Fei Hu's arm. She intended to push him aside but was surprised when their arms collided, causing both of them to sway slightly. Fei Hu was taken aback; he hadn't expected such strength from a woman. He had used about eighty percent of his strength; otherwise, he would have been pushed aside.
"What are you doing, Fei Hu?" Helena appeared like a ghost behind him, holding a stack of documents.
Seeing his superior arrive, Fei Hu quickly explained, "This person isn't wearing an ID badge; I don't know what she's doing here. I wouldn't let her go up because she insisted on it and even wanted to fight me. Hmph! She's overestimating herself."
"What did you say?" the girl retorted defiantly.
Helena stepped forward with a smile and said, "I'm sorry; you're both new here. As they say, no harm in getting acquainted through some conflict? You should go ahead! Don't let this delay your business."
The girl smiled at Helena and turned to enter the elevator. Fei Hu looked puzzled and asked, "Who is she? Why is she so impressive?"
"Impressive? You really don't want to keep your job, do you? She's our group's chief consultant named Yingzi. From now on, keep your eyes peeled," Helena said with a gentle smile as she swayed her curvy figure and walked away.
Oh my goodness! Had he stirred up another hornet's nest? Fei Hu wasn't sure how significant this consultant was, but seeing how polite Helena was towards Yingzi made him realize that she worked on the 28th floor alongside the chairman. Anyone who shared an office with such high-ranking officials must hold an important position. Fei Hu couldn't help but feel a bit regretful about his rashness.
Suddenly, the phone on the table next to Fei Hu rang. This broken thing was just a decoration; Fei Hu had been here for a while and it was the first time he heard it ring. Usually, any matters were communicated through the intercom. Hesitating, Fei Hu walked over to the phone.
"Hello, this is the lobby on the first floor. How can I assist you?" Fei Hu politely spoke into the phone, following the training he received upon starting his job.
There was a brief pause on the line before a woman's voice came through: "Are you Fei Hu?"
"Yes, I am Fei Hu." Who is this? Fei Hu was extremely puzzled.
"Tch, why aren't you called Flying Dragon? Wouldn't that be cooler?" The woman on the phone spoke with a provocative tone.
I’m called Flying Dragon; what does it matter to you? Fei Hu didn’t dare to say that out loud since he had no idea who was on the other end. Instead, he cautiously asked, "Who are you? Did I offend you somewhere?"
"Offend is not quite right. After dinner today, meet me in the security training room on the first floor. If you're a man, don't back down," the woman said before abruptly hanging up.
Fei Hu frowned. Who is this? Today isn’t even a training day; what’s going on in the security training room? The door is usually locked.
All afternoon, Fei Hu felt gloomy, constantly thinking about this matter but unable to talk to anyone about it since he knew nothing about it.
During dinner, Helena came over to chat with him. Fei Hu had no interest at all. Once she walked away, several teammates laughed and said to him, "You lucky guy! The curvy one has her eyes on you; she never jokes around with us." The nickname they gave her was indeed quite fitting.
Fei Hu smiled faintly, quickly finishing the last bite of food in his bowl before getting up and leaving the dining hall. He headed toward the security training room on the first floor. This is really strange; the door to the training room was slightly ajar. Who could be inside?
