Sun Li closed the office door and smiled at Fei Hu, saying, "Sit down, Fei Hu. How did you get injured? Let's talk here; it's more convenient, which is why I called you out of the hospital."
Fei Hu sat down across from Sun Li, sighed deeply, and recounted what had happened since he jumped out of the hospital window last time. He didn't know why he trusted Sun Li so much; perhaps it was because she had protected him before, but that reason didn't seem sufficient.
After listening to Fei Hu, Sun Li's expression turned serious as she said, "After you left last time, I made some inquiries. The old man you saved is the leader of the Dragon Tiger Gang. You might be caught up in some disputes within their gang, so you must be very careful. The Dragon Tiger Gang holds significant power in City A, and almost no one dares to confront them."
"What? There really is such a gang?" Fei Hu looked incredulous.
Sun Li nodded and confirmed, "Yes."
With confirmation from Sun Li, Fei Hu relaxed a bit, leaning back in his chair with a look of despair. He had only seen gangs in books and movies; he never expected that such groups actually existed in real life, and now he was entangled with one. What was he going to do?
"Alright, don't think too much about it. Since the old man gave you something valuable, he might be sending someone to find you right now. Once they locate you, this matter won't concern you anymore. Hey! It's just an arm injury; why are you still hospitalized?" Sun Li asked with concern.
This made Fei Hu feel a bit touched; after all, she was the goddess of his dreams. He couldn't help but glance at Sun Li again before saying, "They said I had a high fever and were worried about an infection."
Sun Li stood up and touched Fei Hu's forehead before looking at him and saying, "You do have a slight fever. However, I think you're coming down with a cold; your long hair is still wet, and you've sneezed several times since you came in."
"I did get caught in a heavy rain this afternoon. If that's the case, I shouldn't need to stay in the hospital; being here feels like burning money," Fei Hu lamented about his expenses.
Sun Li laughed and said, "Rich people fear hospitalization even more; let alone you. But you should leave here as soon as possible; I think they will find this place soon."
Fei Hu frowned and replied, "Where can I hide now? It feels like there are their people everywhere."
After thinking for a moment, Sun Li suggested, "How about this? I finish my shift at two o'clock tonight. You can come back with me to my place and hide for a while. I live on a high floor in a relatively secluded neighborhood; where you stay won't attract anyone's attention."
Fei Hu thought he must have heard wrong; this beautiful woman was inviting him to stay at her home. Was she trying to trick him? Besides, as a grown man, would it really be appropriate to stay at a woman's house? Fei Hu couldn't help but ask, "Your family won't mind, right? I think it might be better if I don't trouble you."
"Just go back to your room. These are not things you should worry about. Remember, at 1:50, wait for me at the stairway on the first floor. I will take care of your discharge procedures," Sun Li said, gesturing for Fei Hu to leave.
As soon as he returned to the room, a nurse rushed in with an IV drip, looking quite displeased. "What are you doing? You're sick and should be resting in bed, not wandering around. You must not be feeling sick enough."
Fei Hu smiled awkwardly and had no response. The nurse was efficient; within moments, she had inserted the needle and after checking for a while without any issues, she told him, "If you need anything, just ring the bell," and then turned to leave.
Fei Hu glanced at the other beds in the room and noticed that the patients were nowhere to be seen; they were all empty. He felt an indescribable loneliness. When he remembered that Sun Li was going to take him to her home tonight, he couldn't help but feel excited. This was something he had never even dared to dream of. He wondered if Sun Li's family would object; if she had a boyfriend or husband, his chances of staying there would be slim. With this concern in mind, Fei Hu unknowingly fell asleep.
In his dream, Fei Hu felt someone tapping his shoulder. He opened his eyes to see Sun Li standing by his bed, dressed in a striking red dress that caught his attention. Just as he was about to speak, Sun Li put a finger to her lips, signaling him to be quiet.
At that moment, every bed in the sick room was occupied. Fei Hu hurriedly looked at his hand and saw that the IV needle had already been removed; it seemed he had been extremely tired and unaware of everything happening around him. Sun Li must have come for him after two o'clock. He quickly tidied his clothes and followed Sun Li out of the room.
As they approached the first floor, Sun Li gestured for Fei Hu to go ahead. The hospital was nearly empty at this hour, and the dim lights in the corridor created an unsettling atmosphere that made Fei Hu quicken his pace. When they reached the hospital entrance, Fei Hu stepped over the sleeping security guard's leg; this was indeed the time when people felt most drowsy.
Once outside the hospital, as soon as Fei Hu stood still, a rental car pulled up beside him. The driver leaned out and asked, "Where to?" Just as Fei Hu was about to wave him off, Sun Li appeared behind him, pulled him along without saying a word, and got into the rental car.
After settling in, Sun Li gave her home address to the driver. With a press of the accelerator, the rental car sped off down the quiet road. Before long, they arrived at their destination. Sun Li paid for the ride and got out with Fei Hu.
Sunshine Garden Community looked like a forest filled with buildings when viewed from inside. Fei Hu felt an excitement he had never experienced before; he walked while taking in his surroundings. Sun Li quietly urged him, "Hurry up! There's nothing much to see now; when you have a chance later, I'll show you everything."
They reached the 26th floor of Building 9, which felt like reaching a mountain peak for Fei Hu. Just as Sun Li opened the door to her apartment, he instinctively shrank back behind her. He feared that her family might not welcome him; being kicked out would feel worse than being beaten.
The door opened with a click and as the lights turned on with a pop sound, Fei Hu's heart raced. The living room was spacious but empty of people. He felt a surge of relief until Sun Li laughed and said, "Quickly change into slippers and sit down! Look at your silly face."
It was then that Fei Hu realized he had made another mistake; what was he doing in someone else's living room at such an hour? As this thought crossed his mind, he began looking around nervously again.
"Don't look so much, I'm the only one living here. Look at you, getting all nervous just walking in," Sun Li playfully rolled her eyes at Fei Hu before heading into her room.
Fei Hu flopped onto the sofa, his heart racing for a moment before he finally relaxed. This was truly wonderful; it seemed he had worried for nothing. He could almost envision the happy times of living with a beautiful woman. Just as Fei Hu was daydreaming, Sun Li walked out of her room and tossed a few pieces of clothing at him. She smiled and said, "These are new clothes I bought for my dad, but he didn't come. You can wear them for now; they're about your size."
Fei Hu quickly laughed and replied, "How can I accept this?"
"Don't be so polite. Go take a shower and change into these. Tomorrow I'll go out and buy you a couple of new outfits. The clothes you're wearing now, combined with your long hair, make you look like a wild man," Sun Li said, unable to hold back her laughter.
Seeing Sun Li laugh so happily made Fei Hu smile as well. He picked up the clothes and was about to head to the bathroom when Sun Li asked him again, "Does your arm hurt? If it does, I can help you wash."
Upon hearing that Sun Li wanted to help him bathe, Fei Hu's heart began to race, but he still managed to say, "No need, it's not a big deal. I can manage on my own."
After closing the bathroom door, Fei Hu regretted his response and slapped himself lightly on the face. Why was he being so foolish? He clearly wanted her help but couldn't bring himself to say it. Oh well! They had just met; thinking too much was really inappropriate.
Sun Li's bathroom was just as well-decorated as Xia Yan's. However, after searching through it thoroughly, Fei Hu couldn't find any of Sun Li's underwear, which left him a bit disappointed. After finishing his shower, he changed into Sun Li's father's oversized pajamas and stepped out of the bathroom.
Sun Li glanced at Fei Hu while watching TV and smiled, "Wow! That outfit actually fits well; it's just that the color is a bit dull. You look like you've aged over ten years."
Fei Hu chuckled but remained silent as he sat down on the other side of the sofa.
Sun Li stood up and said to Fei Hu, "If you're tired, you can sleep in the next room; I've already prepared it for you." After saying that, she turned and went back into the bathroom. Soon after, the sound of running water could be heard, causing Fei Hu's mind to wander.
