"Perfect." Richelieu gazed with satisfaction at the exquisitely shaped pizza on the plate, tilting her head in thought before muttering to herself, "After all, it's the first time making it, so it's better to be cautious."
With that, Richelieu turned her attention back to the open pages of the book.
"…2 grams of salt, 5 grams of sugar, 15 grams of butter, 5 grams of dry yeast, 100 milliliters of milk…"
As she spoke, Richelieu pointed to each corresponding ingredient with her finger. After confirming everything was correct once more, she placed the pizza into the oven with a sense of accomplishment.
However, Richelieu, are you sure that's salt and not iodine? Are you certain the sugar is salty?
Lexington, who witnessed the entire process, wore a bemused expression. Initially, she wanted to remind Richelieu. But then she thought about how this was Richelieu's first time making a heartfelt breakfast for Admiral. Although the pizza might be a bit off in flavor, the spirit behind it deserved recognition. So it was better not to disturb Richelieu's enthusiasm.
As for Admiral's reaction after eating it later, he deserved his misfortune. With both her and her sister preparing Wedding Ship, it was perfectly fine! And marrying Richelieu? That fickle heartthrob deserved his bad luck.
So when all personnel at Naval Base 197 gathered around the dining table, everyone else had simple egg pancakes with slices of bread, along with a glass of milk and an apple. Only Chuyang had a plate of ham and cheese pizza that looked incredibly appetizing in front of him.
"Brother Chu Yang, I…" Firefly pointed at the pizza in front of Chuyang. For the little foodie Firefly, that pizza seemed delicious, and she wanted a piece.
But before little Kiddo could finish her sentence, Saratoga covered her mouth.
"That's made by Richelieu," Saratoga whispered softly in Firefly's ear, completely extinguishing any desire the Loli had to share in it.
There was no helping it; as one of the initial ships at Naval Base and possessing a bit of a foodie trait, Firefly had almost tasted every "Dark Cuisine Master" at Naval Base. Thinking back to London's Stargazing and Quincy's stir-fried greens… well! She would wait until Brother Chu Yang had tasted it before saying anything.
"What's wrong? Firefly, do you want some too?" Chuyang noticed Firefly's actions.
"No." Firefly shook her head vigorously. It was a joke; the lessons learned from the past were painfully severe. Just thinking about those "Dark Cuisine Masters" when they first arrived at the Naval Base, boasting about their culinary skills and how delicious their dishes were. She had fallen for it every time due to her cravings, but what was the result? The past was too hard to look back on.
"Dear, did you make this?" Chuyang said with a smile. After all, this was a heartfelt breakfast prepared by his wife, who cared for him after he worked hard all night. Even if Firefly wanted some, he had no intention of sharing it with Loli.
"No, it was made by Richelieu." This lady was adamant about not taking the credit. "Admiral, you should know that Richelieu got up very early to make this pizza for you and has been busy in the kitchen until now. So, you must not let Richelieu's efforts go to waste."
"Well, it didn't take too long; it was actually done in a short while." Richelieu said somewhat shyly, "It was my first time making it, and I didn't prepare enough ingredients, so I only made one for Admiral. Firefly, if you want to eat some, I can make it for you tomorrow, okay?"
"Uh..." Firefly didn't know how to respond and simply lowered her head to deal with the egg pancake on her plate.
Under the meaningful gazes of Lexington and Saratoga, as well as Richelieu's hopeful stare, Chuyang picked up a knife and fork and cut a small piece of pizza before putting it into his mouth.
"Dear, you're making me suffer." Chuyang chewed the food a few times and cast a silent accusatory glance at Lexington.
"Brother-in-law, is it good?" Saratoga quickly followed up with another question.
Chuyang could bet that his big wife and sister-in-law absolutely knew the truth and were just waiting to see him make a fool of himself. Then he looked across the table at Richelieu, who wore a shy yet expectant expression, waiting for his praise. Chuyang struggled to swallow the bitter and salty pizza in his mouth and said unenthusiastically, "Um, it's very good."
"If it's good, then brother-in-law should eat more." Saratoga said with a suppressed smile and an encouraging expression. After all, that dish wouldn't kill anyone; letting her brother-in-law taste Richelieu's cooking would help him appreciate how rare it was for them to cook.
"Admiral, isn't it bad?" As she spoke, Richelieu stood up and reached for the pizza on Chuyang's plate with her knife and fork.
"No, it's really good." Chuyang quickly swallowed the entire piece of pizza before Richelieu could react because he didn't want to see that look of disappointment in her eyes.
As a traveler who had felt no sense of belonging in this world for a long time, it wasn't until he met Firefly that he began to face this place for the first time. The subsequent encounters with Lexington, Andrea Doria, Saratoga, Isuzu, and Richelieu made him truly experience the warmth that came from "family." Therefore, he didn't want his Fleet Girls to feel any grievances; this was the only thing he could do as their Admiral, their husband, brother, and family member.
"Admiral." Richelieu's eyes were slightly red. Although she had never been in love before, her emotional intelligence was not low. Just from the stiff expression on Admiral's face when he took his first bite of pizza, she already knew that the pizza must be very unappetizing. Yet, because he was concerned about her feelings, Admiral unhesitatingly finished the remaining pizza, which deeply moved Richelieu, who was inherently filled with romantic sentiments.
"Always trying to be strong," Lexington said with concern. Now she regretted not stopping Admiral when he took that first bite. However, this only made Lexington more attached to Admiral.
"Brother-in-law..."
"Perverted Admiral..."
"Admiral..."
A piece of pizza allowed Chuyang to perfectly gain favor among the Fleet Girls, something he had never anticipated. It seemed that this method of gaining favor was quite effective; perhaps he should do it a few more times.
But thinking about the taste that made him feel "ecstatic," Chuyang ultimately dismissed that idea. There were many ways to gain favor, and there was no need to make things difficult for himself.
After a brief interlude, breakfast continued.
"Admiral, shouldn't we visit a few nearby Naval Bases today?" Lexington reminded.
"That should be the plan," Chuyang nodded.
