The gathering is taking place at the Rongcheng Navy Holiday Hotel. Speaking of this, one cannot help but mention the Naval Headquarters, which is a massive organization. As the strongest organization on Earth, the Naval Headquarters has its industries all over the world, such as the Naval Military Police Department, Navy Shipping Company, Navy Mining Corporation, and Naval Mercenary Association. In short, the Naval Headquarters is not merely a military institution; it is supported by numerous enterprises and organizations of various sizes. Among them, the most famous is undoubtedly the Navy Bank. As a leader in global banking, its issued "Foreign Currency" is the only legal tender recognized by all governments and regions worldwide, usable and circulating anywhere. Additionally, naval academies around the world are established in cooperation between the Naval Headquarters and local governments, showcasing the profound foundation and immense power of the Naval Headquarters. The Navy Holiday Hotel is just one of its many industries; officially named Navy Holiday Inn, it has branches in coastal cities around the globe and specializes in providing dining and accommodation services for Admirals and Fleet Girls.
The Rongcheng Navy Holiday Hotel is located not far from the academy. It is a six-story building covered with blue organic glass, resembling a giant droplet magnified countless times.
As they closed their umbrellas at the hotel entrance, before Chuyang could speak, two Fleet Girls dressed as waitstaff politely opened the hotel’s large doors for them.
Not all Fleet Girls in this world enjoy fighting, nor can all of them find an Admiral. Fleet Girls are a unique type of being; to date, no organization or individual has been able to definitively determine their lifespan. Theoretically, as long as nothing unexpected happens, Fleet Girls possess almost endless lifespans. However, in some respects, their lives can be even shorter than those of humans. When a Fleet Girl loses her Admiral—the spiritual support that sustains her life—there is a high possibility that her life will fade away in a very short time or she may fall into becoming a Deep Sea Shipgirl. Yet for many Fleet Girls without an Admiral, as long as they do not lose hope in life and still have affection for everything in this world, they can continue to live on. Thus, within the Naval Headquarters, there exists a large number of idle Fleet Girls who neither wish to join combat divisions nor can find an Admiral in the short term. This group of Fleet Girls, along with some who choose to retire, are assigned to various positions within subordinate industries based on their intentions.
Of course, if a Fleet Girl finds an Admiral during her work process, the Naval Headquarters will not only not obstruct her but will also provide a generous dowry as if marrying off a daughter, happily sending her off. Therefore, Navy Holiday Hotel and other companies under the Naval Headquarters have always been popular venues for many Admirals looking for partners; Chuyang has visited here more than once.
Unlike many companies under the Naval Headquarters that involve numerous human participants, within the Navy Holiday Hotel—from the general manager down to cleaning staff—all are Fleet Girls, predominantly young girls and lolis. This is simply because Destroyer Girls, Light Cruiser Girls, and Heavy Cruiser Girls constitute the largest base within the entire Fleet Girls system.
“Welcome! How may we assist you?” The front desk staff did not ask Chuyang for identification due to his Admiral uniform and the presence of Lexington, Andrea Doria, and Firefly—Fleet Girls themselves—so they smiled and directly inquired.
“Could you please check which room is hosting the reunion for the 17th class of Rongcheng Naval Academy?” Chuyang asked. The invitation was indeed beautifully written but only stated that it would be held at Navy Holiday Hotel without specifying the room number.
Before the front desk staff could respond, another young man dressed similarly to Chuyang approached.
“Brother Chu,” he greeted politely.
Chuyang felt awkward; while the young man looked familiar, he couldn’t recall his name. Fortunately, perhaps sensing Chuyang's embarrassment, he introduced himself: “I am Yun Fan, just an ordinary member of Class Two. It’s no concern if Brother Chu doesn’t recognize me.”
The young man spoke with refined eloquence, wearing a pair of silver-rimmed glasses that added to the scholarly aura surrounding him. If he were to remove his military uniform and don a long robe, he would perfectly resemble a scholar from the Republican Era in Chuyang's past cinematic works, exuding an unmistakable elegance.
"Hello, Brother Yun." It was no wonder he couldn't recall the name; although he wasn't familiar with his classmates, he had been in the same class for two years and recognized most of them. It was only students like Yun Fan from other classes whose names he often forgot.
Despite both wearing military uniforms, this was not a formal setting like a military camp, so they did not salute each other but instead shook hands.
"Sir, the gathering is being held in the Third Banquet Hall on the second floor." After Chuyang and Yun Fan exchanged greetings, the front desk Fleet Girl spoke up: "Sir, you will need an Invitation to enter there, so please show it when the time comes."
"Thank you."
After politely greeting the front desk Fleet Girl, Chuyang walked alongside Yun Fan toward the second floor.
"I apologize, Brother Chu; I forgot to introduce you." As she spoke, Yun Fan took the hand of the girl walking on her left and said, "This is my wife Kaohsiung; you can call her Yun Shi."
"Wife?" Chuyang was initially taken aback and took about a second to realize what "wife" meant.
Wife: An ancient term used by men when referring to their spouses in conversation with others.
But what era is it now? Can't one just say 'wife' or 'spouse'? Why use such an archaic term? Honestly, Chuyang felt somewhat exhausted talking to this guy.
"Oh, so it's Sister-in-law. My apologies." Fortunately, those years of watching historical dramas weren't in vain.
"I am Kaohsiung from the Yun family. I apologize for my rudeness." With that, Kaohsiung gave a graceful bow to Chuyang.
Indeed, it seems that not being from the same family does not prevent them from entering the same door. Looking at Kaohsiung, she appears to be around eighteen or nineteen years old, with long black hair styled in an ancient woman's bun, adorned with a golden hairpin. She wears a light blue cross-collared skirt, resembling a dignified lady stepping out of a traditional Chinese painting, giving off an air of elegance typical of a well-educated family.
"Brother Chu, why haven't I seen your Fleet Girls?" Yun Fan's glasses glinted with a hint of sharpness that was not easily noticeable to others.
