(New Book is climbing the charts, and Little Sword needs the support of all Admiral leaders. Please use your votes to help Little Sword, the new recruit of the Navy!)
"Battlecruiser Shipgirl as the leader of Circus, that's quite something," Chuyang said, speechless. Although Battlecruiser Shipgirl is relatively weaker compared to a proper Battleship Girl, they still belong to the category of large ships.
It’s important to note that in this world, even many Battleships, battlecruisers, and Aircraft Carriers that were merely used as fodder in Chuyang's previous life games are extremely rare here. To give a simple example, let’s consider the graduates from Rongcheng Naval Academy's Admiral Branch Class 17. There were nearly 120 Admirals across four classes, but after three years and six construction sessions, how many managed to build battlecruisers or other large ships? The answer is none; the best they achieved were Heavy Cruiser Girls, most of whom belonged to the Kaohsiung Hell family. Even so, their class wasn't the most unfortunate; over the sixty years since the academy's establishment, there have been several classes that didn't even produce a single Heavy Cruiser Girl. The worst was the class of Millennium, where every single one turned out to be Destroyer elementary students. If this were an ordinary university, anyone would think it was a school harboring hidden issues—good boys and girls sent in, only to emerge four years later as unmarried adults with children. What parent could accept that without demanding accountability from the academy?
This illustrates how rare large ships are in this world. To put it bluntly, even if you randomly pulled out one of those fodder-level Battlecruiser Shipgirls from Chuyang's previous life games, they would be considered a true elite here. Not to say they would become a major player, but at least they would be top-tier within certain regional Admiral circles.
But now, enough said. If it weren't for knowing that he didn't have such good fortune, Chuyang would really want to give it a try.
At the back of the Circus backstage area was a row of activity trailers covered in various graffiti. Led by Firefly, Chuyang followed the little girl as she pushed open a door and stepped into the first room on the right.
The room was about seven or eight square meters in size, with a solid wood desk and chair facing the door against one wall. On the wall behind it hung a world map marked with many arrows in red ink, likely indicating the tour routes of Squirrel Circus. On the opposite wall stood an old file cabinet with peeling paint; above its door was a nail holding a round dartboard. A few costumes for performances were casually piled on a low table in one corner, and an old sofa sat beneath the window on the door side. The floor was littered with cigarette butts and plastic takeout bags, making the entire room appear exceptionally messy.
A lamp with a shade hung from the ceiling in the center of the room; perhaps due to prolonged use, its light was dim and somewhat gloomy.
At that moment, the White-Haired Mistress sat behind the desk, leaning back against her chair. In her tight black leather pants, her long legs appeared exceptionally well-proportioned as they extended forward with her arms crossed on top of the desk.
When Chuyang and Firefly entered the room, the White-Haired Mistress showed no intention of standing up; she simply pointed to a chair in front of her desk, indicating for Chuyang to sit down. Then she turned her gaze toward Firefly standing beside her and asked, "Have you really made up your mind?"
"I'm sorry, Sister Filin, I can't travel around the world with you anymore," Firefly said softly, lowering her head slightly in embarrassment.
After leaving the Naval Base, the little girl had not a single penny to her name. When she was so poor that she couldn't even afford food and had gone hungry for two or three days, it was Sister Filin who took her in. To help her quickly find the Prince of Wales, Sister Filin unhesitatingly disrupted the Circus's already planned tour route, prioritizing visits to places where the Prince of Wales might be found.
Unfortunately, after meeting three different Princes of Wales, none of them were the one she was looking for. As a result, Firefly lost the desire to continue searching.
In this world, apart from those three Princes of Wales, there were no other Fleet Girls known by that name.
As for Firefly's companion Trust, well! Compared to the Battleship Prince of Wales, who could become the center of attention anywhere, there were simply too many Fleet Girls named Trust, most of whom were not well-known. Firefly truly couldn't think of how to search for her and could only inquire whenever they arrived in a new city during the Circus's performances.
The reason Chuyang encountered Firefly on Academy Street was precisely because in large cities like Rongcheng, which housed a Naval Academy, Fleet Girls generally preferred to live in the surrounding areas.
However, after searching for so long and following the Circus to countless cities, Firefly had seen many Trusts in various Naval Bases, including some that were not yet grown. Yet, just like with the Princes of Wales, none were the Trust from her Naval Base who liked to carry her on their back.
Just a few days ago, while chatting with Feilin, Firefly had mentioned that if she couldn't find Trust in this city, she would give up entirely and let go of all past memories to help Sister Filin build Squirrel Circus into the largest Circus in the world and travel together.
But now, she felt conflicted and betrayed her earlier words by leaving Squirrel Circus and Sister Filin for an Admiral she had only known for a little over an hour. The little girl felt very guilty towards this older sister who had taken such good care of her for four years and towards everyone in the Circus with whom she had spent so much time.
"There’s nothing to feel guilty about; you haven't wronged me. Since you've made your decision, I won't stop you. There’s another performance in half an hour; go ahead and get ready—put on your makeup and change your clothes. Consider it your farewell performance from the Circus," said the White-Haired Mistress in a calm tone that revealed neither displeasure nor joy, her expression remaining tranquil.
"Thank you, Sister Filin." Firefly bowed deeply to Feilin to express her apology. Then she straightened up and said to Chuyang, "Brother Chu Yang, wait here for me. After the performance ends, I'll go back with you."
"Okay, go ahead!"
"Clap!"
With a faint sound of the door closing, Chuyang withdrew his gaze and turned to look at the White-Haired Mistress sitting across the table. He was well aware that the time for his test had come; whether he could bring back the fireflies from the Circus today was still uncertain.
