At that moment, the phone screen displayed that Su Fei'er's location had suddenly stopped. I looked up and saw not far ahead an abandoned warehouse, which appeared particularly eerie in the night.
"It seems we have arrived," I said, putting my phone in my pocket, my gaze resolute. "Let's go meet the person behind her."
Lu Jingchen nodded, saying nothing more, and followed behind me as we walked toward the abandoned warehouse.
The warehouse door was wide open, and it was pitch black inside. Only a few beams of moonlight filtered through the gaps in the dilapidated windows, illuminating the scattered debris on the floor. Lu Jingchen and I cautiously entered the warehouse, our footsteps echoing in the empty space, sounding particularly clear.
"I am Lu Jingchen, you finally made it," a deep voice came from the depths of the warehouse, laced with a hint of mockery and sarcasm.
Following the voice, we saw a tall man emerge from the shadows. He was dressed in a black suit, his hair neatly combed, wearing gold-rimmed glasses, and a cold smile played at the corners of his mouth, giving off a chilling vibe.
"Who are you?" I asked, my gaze icy as I stared at the man before me.
"It doesn't matter who I am," he chuckled lightly, speaking arrogantly. "What matters is that you will die here today."
"Is that so?" Lu Jingchen replied with a cold smile, a hint of disdain flashing in his eyes.
"Of course it's not just me," the man clapped his hands, and the warehouse door opened again. A group of men in black filed in, surrounding Lu Jingchen and me completely.
"What do you want?" I scanned my surroundings and spoke calmly, but my clenched fists betrayed my inner turmoil.
"I thought you were clever; why can't you guess what I want?" The man stepped closer to me, looking down from his height with a glint of malice in his eyes. "I am here for revenge—for my father!"
"Who is your father?" I frowned slightly, certain that I had never seen the man in front of me, let alone know his father.
The man let out a cold laugh and was about to speak when a sharp voice interrupted, "Xinghe, are you okay?"
Su Fei'er stepped out from behind the man, her face showing a hint of panic and worry, but deep in her eyes was a barely noticeable sense of triumph.
"Fei'er, how did you end up here?" I looked at Su Fei'er, a trace of confusion flashing in my eyes.
"I..." Su Fei'er opened her mouth as if to explain something but ultimately said nothing.
"You don't need to waste your breath," the man said with a cold laugh. "She is my woman now, so she naturally stands by my side."
"You're talking nonsense!" Su Fei'er’s expression changed, and she retorted loudly, "I am not your woman!"
"Fei'er, how can you say that?" The man reached out and wrapped his arm around Su Fei'er's shoulders, speaking gently. "Have you forgotten everything I've done for you?"
Su Fei'er trembled violently, her face turning pale as she looked fearfully at the man before her, unable to speak further.
Watching this scene unfold, I suddenly understood everything. This was all a play directed by Su Fei'er herself; she had deliberately taken the Head of the Su Family hostage to lure me and Lu Jingchen here, with the goal of falling into this man's trap.
