No matter how determined Yezhi felt inside, the reality was that "it's easy to go up the mountain, but hard to come down." If Wolf Child could be easily dealt with, she wouldn't be Wolf Child.
Breathing in the unique freshness of the forest and gazing at the ever-changing mountains and silver-white peaks, Wolf Child felt an indescribable joy inside.
Madwoman tightly grasped the hem of Wolf Child's clothing, her eyes filled with caution.
Yezhi sighed; her close and harmonious relationship with her mother-in-law had been disrupted by a cup of ginger soup. She admitted her methods were a bit rough, but it was for her own good!
Back in the embrace of the mountains, Wolf Child thrived. Leading the way, Yezhi felt that it was no worse than Xiao Fang. Sometimes when Xiao Fang pointed out the path, it hardly counted as a road.
Wolf Child kept twitching her nose. Clearly, the path was ahead, yet she dove into the bushes on the left.
Xiao Fang didn't notice anything unusual and nodded at Yezhi. Following suit, Yezhi squeezed through, only to hear a loud crash.
"It's over!" This was Yezhi's last thought. However, after waiting for what felt like an eternity for the anticipated pain to arrive, she instead felt a tingling sensation beneath her. Opening her eyes, she found that a blue-glowing electric net was supporting all three of them.
"Woof woof!" Niu Niu! It turned out this little guy had saved them.
"Master!" Xiao Fang slowly descended from above.
"Woof woof!" Niu Niu shouted: Master is too heavy; I can't hold on!
Upon hearing this, Yezhi hurriedly reached to pull out the row of wooden spikes beneath her. The electric net crackled twice and vanished just like that. The three of them fell heavily to the ground; instead of piercing their skin, the sharp wooden spikes were broken under their weight.
Wolf Child looked on in disbelief as Madwoman picked up a sharp spike and aimed it at her own thigh. "Don't!" Wolf Child knew how dangerous these wooden spikes were; her former wolf brothers had suffered greatly from them.
However, the Madwoman poked so hard that her pants tore, yet there wasn't even a scratch on her leg. She looked at Yezhi for answers.
Yezhi felt that the more she explained, the more complicated it became. If one day she forgot to spray the "Indestructible" spray on the two of them, it would lead to a tragedy.
"Bark, bark," Yezhi hugged Niu Niu and gave her two hard kisses. If it weren't for Niu Niu still having this ability, they would have definitely fallen over in a daze.
"Why, Ye?"
"You'll understand when you grow up!" Purely teasing.
The little girl nodded, "I want to eat; I need to grow up quickly."
"Let's eat!" Madwoman patted her belly and smacked her lips.
"Haha!" Xiao Fang laughed uncontrollably on the ground, "A bunch of foodies, a bunch of true foodies." Even trapped in a pit, they continued to eat without a care.
Yezhi tugged at its ear, "What are you laughing about? Hurry up and think of a way to get out."
Xiao Fang said with relief, "Master, it's good that you're a normal person!"
It was clear that it had spoken too soon. After asking it to think of a solution, its master took out rice balls from the Cloth Bag, placed them in an iron cup, poured in water, and lit the wooden sticks with a match. Soon, smoke curled above the two-meter-wide and five-meter-high pit, and the aroma of rice and pickles made everyone swallow their saliva.
After extinguishing the flames, she held the iron cup with gloves. They shared spoonfuls of the hot and savory rice water. The three of them couldn't help but huff from the heat but continued to eat bite after bite.
"Delicious, right?"
Wolf Child nodded, "It smells good when you're hungry!"
Yezhi snatched the spoon, "Those who don't know how to appreciate it have no right to eat!"
Madwoman dragged the spoon over, "It's delicious!"
"Look! It's still Madwoman who knows how to appreciate it!" Yezhi teased her grandmother's stinky feet.
Niu Niu barked again.
"Master, someone is coming!"
"Really?" She felt incredibly lucky; just as she hadn't finished her meal, someone was coming to rescue her.
"Xiangzi, it seems like a big fellow!"
"Zhoujiatun has more game than our village... much more! I caught a deer the day before yesterday, and Brother Ma San shot... shot... a tiger last week!"
Initially wanting to shout for help, Yezhi was infuriated by their conversation. They were holed up here recuperating while these outsiders benefited from it. Tigers were a dwindling species; just thinking about it made her heart ache.
"Which village are you from?" Yezhi shouted.
The two, who were about to investigate, were startled by Yezhi's sudden voice. A skinny black man stammered, "Girl, how... how are you... in our... our trap?"
"Yeah, how did you end up in there?"
Yezhi stood with her hands on her hips, "Pull me up!"
The two men lowered the rope into the pit. Wolf Child grabbed the rope and climbed out in just a few moments, followed by Madwoman, who was mostly hoisted up by the two men. Yezhi could have climbed out like Wolf Child, but she refused to cooperate, and it took all their strength to drag her up.
Once the rope was untied, Yezhi adjusted her "Shockwave Power Gloves" and then began to strike left and right.
The two men who were ambushed clutched their chests, sprawled on the ground in pain, unable to speak. Wolf Child and Madwoman found it amusing, kicking and hitting the two men, demanding, "Tell us! Who sent you to Zhoujiatun to rob us?"
What? Robbing us??
Wolf Child viciously stomped on the black man's foot, echoing, "Speak!"
"Speak!" Madwoman mimicked, her fair legs exposed to the air, causing the man to blush with anger as he involuntarily grabbed Madwoman's small foot.
Yezhi was furious: how dare he touch her!
Don't blame her for being ruthless; anyone who could harbor evil thoughts in such a situation was certainly not a good person.
"Ah~!" The wretched scream echoed through the mountains.
Xiao Fang reminded, "Master, five more people are coming!" Nima, what do these people want? Are they here to rob us in groups? Is there no decency left?
"Girl, stop it." This person seemed familiar to her. "Are you from that... Li Family Village?" The Old Man nodded. "Dongzi, quickly help Xiangzi and the others up."
"How did you end up hunting over here?" The Old Man, initially fierce, now looked somewhat hesitant. "This...!"
"You've been doing this for more than a day or two, haven't you?" They were holed up in the mountains, waiting for nature to revive, not to give these bandits an advantage.
"This mountain doesn't belong to your Zhoujiatun. We have the skills, so why can't we come hunt?"
"Right... right... exactly!"
"Yeah, sister, this mountain belongs to all of us!"
"Don't talk nonsense. Don't think I don't understand the rules of this mountain. This matter isn't over!"
"It's not over. You hurt our people; how can we just let it go? You owe us compensation!" Wolf Child charged at the man who was gesturing in front of Yezhi.
The man cried out in pain as he pushed Wolf Child away, a bloody hole appearing in his chest.
Wolf Child's eyes gleamed with ferocity as she spat out the rag from her mouth, savoring the blood that lingered on her lips.
The outsiders were all stunned. Yezhi was furious, "You filthy girl, that man is so dirty! You still use your mouth? Nima, this is a place for eating; can you at least be a little hygienic?" Wolf Child turned her head away, dodging Yezhi's handkerchief.
Don't rush to wipe it off—let her savor the sweetness of fresh blood.
Old Man, who had felt somewhat guilty before, was now enraged. "Tie them up! I want to see how Old Zhou explains this to me."
