Yezhi and One Egg were walking through the forest with low spirits, while Xiao Fang led the way, searching for traces of wild boars within a 100-meter radius.
"Sister Ye, you’ve been gone for two months, I really can’t come to see Little Sister by myself!" Yezhi exclaimed, glaring at One Egg. This One Egg was truly a handful; it was certainly safer to be with her in the deep mountains. The first responsibility of Xiao Fang in leading was ensuring safety. Yezhi earnestly emphasized again, “One Egg, we have a gentleman’s agreement; you’re not allowed to go up the mountain alone, do you hear me!”
One Egg shrugged and nodded listlessly. Although he had gone up the mountain with Sister Ye many times without incident, having grown up in the mountains with a father who was a hunter, One Egg wasn’t foolish enough to think the mountains were simple. His father had said that once he grew up and became skilled, he could hunt alone in the mountains. For now, he needed to learn skills and practice shooting, and he had to be as tall as his father to do so! One Egg was eager to grow up and taller; he decided to eat more bowls of rice at home to grow faster.
The two passed through several patches of forest without encountering any wild boars, but they did come across several groups of Mushroom Chickens. Initially, Yezhi wanted to show mercy, but she couldn’t resist the repeated temptations and ended up teaming up with One Egg to catch four of them. With a few feathers stuck in his hair, One Egg held two Mushroom Chickens in each hand. “Sister Ye, let’s pick some Hazel Mushrooms to take back!” One Egg smacked his lips. “Hehe! Little Chicken Stew with Mushrooms, just the smell is enough to make one lose their mind.” Listening to One Egg’s innocent words, Yezhi smiled without replying, thinking: Once we catch a Wild Boar Piglet, there won’t be time to pick Hazel Mushrooms!
“Master! Target detected!”
From the image transmitted by Xiao Fang, Yezhi saw an adult wild boar swaggering along with four Wild Boar Piglets. She grabbed One Egg and they ran swiftly into a sparse grove.
“Master, ginseng detected!” What’s so special about ginseng? Ever since she could buy it at the Cosmic Mall, Yezhi had lost interest in this precious item that people valued.
“Master, 100-year-old ginseng, top quality!” A hundred years old! She could take it back for Aunt Zhou, or for the village elders to boost their health!
“Sister Ye, what are you doing?” One Egg asked as he saw Sister Ye crouching under a Pine Tree, digging for something. Before Yezhi could respond, Xiao Fang shouted, “Master, the wild boar is coming!”
“One Egg, this is ginseng; help me dig it out carefully so you don’t break its roots!” Looking at the legendary ginseng, One Egg took over the task of digging it out seriously.
After brushing off the grass clippings from her clothes, Yezhi turned to face the wild boar at the edge of the forest. The wild boar's small eyes glinted with wildness as they locked onto hers.
"Snort!" The Wild Boar's long nose twitched twice, letting out a low growl. This was not the first time it had faced off against Yezhi, who remained calm this time. After all, her goal was to capture the Wild Boar Piglet alive without killing it, so she felt at ease.
Seeing that Yezhi did not move, the Wild Boar's small eyes filled with disdain, and its snorting sounded almost mocking. The Wild Boar continued to swagger confidently alongside its agile black and yellow-striped piglet, twitching its little nose, embodying the proud demeanor of a mother.
Yezhi thought the Wild Boar was too arrogant and dismissive. She felt no guilt about separating the mother and child. Clenching her right hand, which was equipped with Shockwave Power Gloves, she took the initiative and delivered a punch to the boastful Wild Boar. The boar's previously proud eyes instantly turned watery as its massive body staggered and fell into the bushes.
The four slick Wild Boar Piglets lost their support and confusedly nudged their mother's body while continuously grunting. "Master, the Wild Boar has fainted! It should wake up in about five minutes!"
Xiao Fang's timely reminder made Yezhi not dare to waste a moment. She asked, "One Egg, have you dug up the ginseng yet?" while her hands were already grabbing at the Wild Boar Piglets.
"Almost... done!" One Egg rushed over with the ginseng in hand. "Why is this Wild Boar lying on the ground? Ah! What adorable Wild Boar Piglets!" One Egg scratched the piglet in Yezhi's arms. "Let's go!" Without waiting for an explanation, Yezhi pulled One Egg and started running. Although One Egg was confused, he followed Yezhi as they dashed through the forest.
"Master, we can stop now; we're at a safe distance where the Wild Boar can't catch up to us."
Yezhi collapsed onto the ground in exhaustion. The two Wild Boar Piglets jumped down onto the ground, and One Egg finally understood why Sister Ye had run. "Sister Ye, since we took one of the Wild Boar's piglets, why not take the other two as well?"
"One Egg, we can't be too ruthless; if we take them all at once, it will just make the Wild Boar come after us desperately!" Xiao Fang nodded repeatedly. At that moment, the Wild Boar woke up and was searching for them in the woods with its remaining piglets.
'Master, we should hurry down the mountain; the Wild Boar is coming!' Yezhi instructed One Egg to find two pieces of bark to wrap up the ginseng before hurriedly carrying the piglets and heading down the mountain.
The two of them each carried a chicken and ginseng while one held two piglets as they stealthily returned to Yezhi's home. Black Treasure rushed over to give Yezhi a hug but suddenly noticed two little black creatures squirming in Mama Bear's arms. The kind-hearted Black Treasure joyfully waved its paws, wanting to hold them. Yezhi casually tossed one of the piglets to Black Treasure, who embraced it and laughed foolishly.
"Wow! Where did these Wild Boar Piglets come from?" Aunt Zhou approached and teased them for a moment. "Sister Ye took them!" One Egg shouted brightly.
"Such a great haul! Haha! My pigpen has finally come in handy!" Aunt Zhou saw One Egg "grumbling," thinking that he had stolen her piglet, and joked happily. In reality, no rural woman dislikes pigs; even if her family can't eat wild boar meat, they can sell it for money. Influenced by Yezhi, Aunt Zhou was becoming more and more resourceful!
Yezhi frowned, "Aunt, this Wild Boar Piglet isn't ours; it's for Zhang Dou's father to use for his illness!" Once reminded by Yezhi, Aunt Zhou recalled, "Then it still needs to be put in the pigpen to raise for a few days!" Yezhi had already regarded the pigpen as a private toilet and was reluctant to raise pigs!
"One Egg is having dinner at my place!" One Egg shook his head, refusing Aunt Zhou's invitation, carrying two Mushroom Chickens and hugging the Hazel Mushrooms that Yezhi had taken out from the cellar, happily running home.
Aunt Zhou pointed at something wrapped in tree bark and asked, "What is this?"
Yezhi replied crisply, "Centennial Ginseng!" Aunt Zhou was so shocked that her mouth fell open. A thought flashed through her mind; Yezhi had mentioned digging ginseng in the mountains. Could it be that her daughter wasn't just talking nonsense? Was ginseng really this easy to find?
Yezhi truly didn't think much of the ginseng. She suggested to Aunt Zhou to kill a chicken, and while making chicken soup, she picked up the Centennial Ginseng and said she would just cut it. Aunt Zhou gasped in shock, but there was no stopping Yezhi from wasting the ginseng. At dinner, while enjoying fragrant rice and drinking Centennial Ginseng chicken soup, Aunt Zhou's heart trembled.
Ever since drinking the chicken soup made with Centennial Ginseng, Yezhi had been full of energy these past couple of days. She didn't take a break while collecting Colostrum in the morning and finished everything before noon. If this young girl experienced such miraculous effects from drinking it, how would Madwoman fare?
Remembering the scene from the previous night when she brought soup to Barefoot Aunt, Yezhi chuckled. Madwoman had oil all over her face after drinking it. Barefoot Aunt took a sip and made a strange face. After receiving the portion of Centennial Ginseng that Yezhi casually tossed to her—missing a third of it—her face turned as dark as a pot bottom as she scolded Yezhi fiercely. Yezhi didn't even grab her basket and shouted, "Aunt, let’s nourish the old and weak in the village! The ginseng is already cut; we should make full use of it!" Before Barefoot Aunt could say anything else, Yezhi dashed away.
