Zhang Xiaoxiao watched as Li Xiumei got into the male lead's car and gradually drove away from the village, feeling a bit melancholic. 0

"What's wrong? Are you unhappy?" Zhao Guangcai asked. 0

"Not really, it's just that I feel a bit out of place. After all, the Li Family has lived nearby for so long, and now suddenly they're leaving for the capital. It's hard to adjust," Zhang Xiaoxiao replied. 0

"Then we should go to the capital too," Zhao Guangcai suggested. 0

"Ah?" Zhang Xiaoxiao was taken aback. 0

"What? Don't you like the capital?" Zhao Guangcai asked. 0

"It's not that I don't like it, it's just... there's no need to follow Li Xiumei just to be closer to her, right?" Zhang Xiaoxiao said. 0

"Don't you want to go?" Zhao Guangcai inquired. 0

"Well, I think life in the village is pretty good right now," Zhang Xiaoxiao answered. 0

"Then we won't go," Zhao Guangcai said. 0

"Okay," Zhang Xiaoxiao nodded. 0

"Let's go home," Zhao Guangcai said. 0

"Mm-hmm," Zhang Xiaoxiao nodded again. 0

After returning home, Zhang Xiaoxiao began to clear the dishes from the table. 0

"I'll wash them," Zhao Guangcai offered. 0

"Okay," Zhang Xiaoxiao nodded. 0

Zhang Xiaoxiao went to her room to sleep. After Zhao Guangcai finished washing the dishes, he found Zhang Xiaoxiao sitting on her bed under a thin blanket, holding a book. 0

"What book are you reading?" Zhao Guangcai asked. 0

"I don't know; I found it on the table," Zhang Xiaoxiao replied. 0

"Oh," Zhao Guangcai nodded. 0

"Is this book yours?" Zhang Xiaoxiao asked. 0

"Yeah," Zhao Guangcai confirmed with a nod. 0

"How did you get this book?" Zhang Xiaoxiao inquired. 0

"My mom sent it to me," Zhao Guangcai said. 0

"Your mom?" Zhang Xiaoxiao was stunned. 0

This was the first time she had heard Zhao Guangcai mention his mother. 0

"Mm." Zhao Guangcai nodded. 0

"Is your... is your mom also in the capital?" Zhang Xiaoxiao asked. 0

"Mm." Zhao Guangcai nodded. 0

"Then... if we want to go to the capital, can we stay at your mom's place?" Zhang Xiaoxiao asked. 0

"Mm." Zhao Guangcai nodded. 0

"What does your mom do?" Zhang Xiaoxiao asked. 0

"She does business," Zhao Guangcai said. 0

"Oh." Zhang Xiaoxiao nodded. 0

"What's wrong?" Zhao Guangcai asked. 0

"Nothing, just a bit curious," Zhang Xiaoxiao said. 0

"Curious?" Zhao Guangcai asked, puzzled. 0

"Mm, I want to know if your mom will like me," Zhang Xiaoxiao said. 0

"She will," Zhao Guangcai said confidently. 0

"How do you know?" Zhang Xiaoxiao asked. 0

"Because I like you," Zhao Guangcai said. 0

"Ah?" Zhang Xiaoxiao was taken aback. 0

"My mom will definitely like you," Zhao Guangcai said. 0

"Mm." Zhang Xiaoxiao nodded. 0

"Let's sleep," Zhao Guangcai said. 0

"Mm." Zhang Xiaoxiao replied. 0

Zhang Xiaoxiao lay down and covered herself with the blanket. 0

Zhao Guangcai turned off the light and lay down as well. 0

"Guangcai," Zhang Xiaoxiao called out. 0

"Mm?" Zhao Guangcai responded. 0

"Does your mom know about our marriage?" Zhang Xiaoxiao asked. 0

"She knows," Zhao Guangcai said. 0

"Mm?" Zhang Xiaoxiao was confused. 0

"I sent a letter to my mom while I was with you, saying that I got married," Zhao Guangcai said. 0

"Ah?" Zhang Xiaoxiao was stunned. 0
How could she not remember Zhao Guangcai having a mother at this point in the original story? 0
"What's wrong?" Zhao Guangcai asked. 0
"Nothing, I'm just a bit surprised," Zhang Xiaoxiao replied. 0
"My mom knew about you a long time ago," Zhao Guangcai said. 0
"Did your mom write back?" Zhang Xiaoxiao asked. 0
"Yeah," Zhao Guangcai responded. 0
"Where's the letter?" Zhang Xiaoxiao inquired. 0
"It's tucked inside that book," Zhao Guangcai said. 0
"Oh," Zhang Xiaoxiao nodded. 0
"Do you want to see it?" Zhao Guangcai asked. 0
"Yeah," Zhang Xiaoxiao replied. 0
Zhao Guangcai turned on the light and got up to fetch the book. 0
Zhang Xiaoxiao also sat up. 0
Zhao Guangcai flipped to the letter and handed it to Zhang Xiaoxiao. 0
Zhang Xiaoxiao took the letter and opened it. 0
The handwriting on the letter was not Zhao Guangcai's mother's but someone else's. 0
"Is this your mom's handwriting?" Zhang Xiaoxiao asked. 0
"No," Zhao Guangcai shook his head. 0
"Then whose handwriting is this?" Zhang Xiaoxiao questioned. 0
"I don't know," Zhao Guangcai replied, shaking his head again. 0
"Is this letter written by someone your mom asked to write for her?" Zhang Xiaoxiao asked. 0
"Maybe," Zhao Guangcai said. 0
"Oh," Zhang Xiaoxiao nodded and continued reading the letter. 0
"Brother Liu, I hope this letter finds you well! 0
It feels like meeting you through this letter; I have received your message. You mentioned in your letter that you married Miss Zhang Xiaoxiao, congratulations to both of you! I am also very happy to meet you and become family with you. If you have time, I welcome you to visit the capital; I will show you around my company and let you see where I work." 0
"Brother Liu?" Zhang Xiaoxiao frowned. 0

"Hmm?" Zhao Guangcai looked at Zhang Xiaoxiao. 0
"Is that how your mom addresses you in her letters?" Zhang Xiaoxiao asked. 0
"Yeah." Zhao Guangcai nodded. 0
"Brother Liu..." Zhang Xiaoxiao said sarcastically. 0
"What’s wrong?" Zhao Guangcai asked. 0
"Nothing much." Zhang Xiaoxiao pouted. 0
"Then why do you sound like that?" Zhao Guangcai asked. 0
"I just think it's strange," Zhang Xiaoxiao replied. 0
"What's strange about it?" Zhao Guangcai asked. 0
"I don't know, it just feels off," Zhang Xiaoxiao said. 0
"Then let's not read it." Zhao Guangcai suggested. 0
"No way, I want to read it," Zhang Xiaoxiao insisted. 0
"Then go ahead and read it," Zhao Guangcai said. 0
Zhang Xiaoxiao continued reading the letter. 0
[Brother Liu, I know you are used to living in the village and might not be accustomed to life in the capital, but don't worry, I bought a house in the capital where you can live with Miss Zhang Xiaoxiao. If you don't want to come to the capital, I will buy a plot of land nearby and build a villa so you can live comfortably.] 0
"Your mom seems pretty Da Fu," Zhang Xiaoxiao remarked. 0
"Yeah." Zhao Guangcai nodded. 0
"Then why did she leave you in the village?" Zhang Xiaoxiao asked. 0
"She has her own things to take care of," Zhao Guangcai replied. 0
"What could be more important than you?" Zhang Xiaoxiao questioned. 0
"She has a lot on her plate," Zhao Guangcai said. 0
"Oh." Zhang Xiaoxiao nodded. 0
