Zhao Xiaosong saw Li Xiumei hesitating before choosing to listen to Sun Qiuhua, and he secretly speculated that Sun Qiuhua was skilled at raising children. Despite his efforts, Li Xiumei seemed unmoved. Therefore, he decided to adopt a strategy of retreating to advance. 0

"Xiu Mei, I won't force you to make a decision. If you don't want to go back, I won't insist," Zhao Xiaosong said. 0

"Mm." Li Xiumei nodded. 0

"However, I have a good idea," Zhao Xiaosong continued. 0

"What good idea?" Li Xiumei asked curiously. 0

"You could come back to the capital with your parents," Zhao Xiaosong suggested. 0

"Really?" Li Xiumei's eyes lit up. 0

"Of course," Zhao Xiaosong nodded. 0

"Mom, we can go to the capital together," Li Xiumei said excitedly, looking at Sun Qiuhua. 0

"Xiu Mei, I..." Sun Qiuhua hesitated. 0

"Mom, don't you want to go to the capital?" Li Xiumei asked. 0

"Xiu Mei, we are not from the capital. What would we do there?" Sun Qiuhua questioned. 0

"Mom, we can settle down in the capital," Li Xiumei replied. 0

"Xiu Mei, we live well here. Why would we move?" Sun Qiuhua asked in confusion. 0

"Mom, it's too poor here. I want to see the capital," Li Xiumei said. 0

"Xiu Mei, we are doing fine here. It would cost a lot of money to go to the capital," Sun Qiuhua pointed out. 0

"Mom, we have hands and feet; we can earn money," Li Xiumei insisted. 0

"Xiu Mei..." Sun Qiuhua wanted to persuade Li Xiumei further. 0

"Mom, please just let me go," Li Xiumei pleaded. 0

"Xiu Mei, it's not that I am stopping you from going to the capital; it's just..." Sun Qiuhua explained. 0

"Just what?" Li Xiumei pressed for an answer. 0

"It's just that staying here isn't the best choice for you or for us," Sun Qiuhua said. 0

"Mom, do you agree?" Li Xiumei looked at Sun Qiuhua in surprise. 0

"Mm." Sun Qiuhua nodded. 0

"Thank you, Mom," Li Xiumei said gratefully. 0

"Silly child, you're my daughter. I'm willing to do anything for you," Sun Qiuhua said as she patted Li Xiumei's head. 0

"Mom, I knew you would be the best to me." Li Xiumei leaned on Sun Qiuhua's shoulder. 0

Zhao Xiaosong saw this scene and a slight smile appeared on his lips. He turned to Sun Qiuhua, "Aunt, do you agree to let Xiu Mei go back?" 0

"Yes," Sun Qiuhua nodded. 0

"Great, thank you, Aunt," Zhao Xiaosong said gratefully. 0

"Don't thank me just yet; I have conditions," Sun Qiuhua replied. 0

"Aunt, please go ahead," Zhao Xiaosong said. 0

"You can take Xiu Mei with you, but you must ensure her safety and not let her suffer any grievances," Sun Qiuhua stated. 0

"Don't worry, I will take good care of Xiu Mei," Zhao Xiaosong promised. 0

"And remember, Xiu Mei grew up in the countryside and doesn't understand the rules of the city; you can't look down on her," Sun Qiuhua added. 0

"Aunt, rest assured, Xiu Mei is my biological sister; I care for her deeply and would never look down on her," Zhao Xiaosong said. 0

"It better be that way," Sun Qiuhua warned. 0

"Aunt, let's leave now," Zhao Xiaosong suggested. 0

"Leave now? So soon?" Sun Qiuhua looked at Zhao Xiaosong in surprise. 0

"Aunt, I've already delayed here for too long; we need to head back early," Zhao Xiaosong explained. 0

"But we haven't prepared anything yet," Sun Qiuhua replied. 0

"Aunt, there's no need for preparation; just bringing her is enough," Zhao Xiaosong insisted. 0

"Well..." Sun Qiuhua hesitated. 0

"Aunt, don't worry; everything is ready; you just need to come," Zhao Xiaosong reassured her. 0

"Alright then," Sun Qiuhua reluctantly agreed. 0

"Thank you, Aunt," Zhao Xiaosong expressed his gratitude. 0

"Mom, let's go pack our things now," Li Xiumei said excitedly. 0

"Xiu Mei, don't rush; wait for your dad to come back, and we'll prepare everything; it would be best to set off that afternoon," Sun Qiuhua advised. 0

"Okay," Li Xiumei nodded. 0

Zhang Xiaoxiao listened from next door and felt anxious upon hearing that Li Xiumei was about to leave the village with the male lead for the capital. How would she enjoy the gossip if they went to the capital? Zhang Xiaoxiao shook her head unconsciously as she thought about it. 0

Seeing Zhang Xiaoxiao shaking her head, Xiao Liang assumed she wasn't feeling well. "Sister-in-law, are you unwell?" 0

"Huh?" Zhang Xiaoxiao snapped back to reality, "I'm not unwell; I'm perfectly fine." 0

"Oh," Xiao Liang nodded, seemingly understanding. 0
"Xiao Liang, shall we play a game?" Zhang Xiaoxiao asked. 0
"What game?" Xiao Liang asked curiously. 0
"We'll have a race to see who can climb the tree first," Zhang Xiaoxiao said. 0
"Sure!" Xiao Liang readily agreed. 0
So, the two began their race to climb the tree. 0
After a while of laughing and playing, they suddenly heard voices coming from next door. 0
"Auntie, when you leave, don't bring any clothes. The capital is different from here; you can buy some new clothes when you get there," Zhao Xiaosong said. 0
Upon hearing this, Sun Qiuhua's expression darkened immediately. "Xiaosong, what do you mean by that? Have I raised Xiu Mei for seventeen years and can't even buy her a decent outfit?" 0
"Auntie, that's not what I meant," Zhao Xiaosong explained. 0
"Then what do you mean?" Sun Qiuhua questioned. 0
"Auntie, I mean that Xiu Mei is still a part of the Zhao Family's bloodline. Even though she has lived here for seventeen years, she still carries the Zhao Family's values and upbringing," Zhao Xiaosong said. 0
"Hmph, the Zhao Family's values? Isn't it just a preference for sons over daughters?" Sun Qiuhua scoffed. 0
"Auntie, my mom has changed; she really cares for Xiu Mei now," Zhao Xiaosong said. 0
"Has she really changed?" Sun Qiuhua asked skeptically. 0
"Of course! Auntie, if you don't believe me, you can ask Xiu Mei," Zhao Xiaosong said. 0
"Xiu Mei, is what your brother said true?" Sun Qiuhua turned to Li Xiumei. 0
"Mom, everything my brother said is true; Auntie has indeed changed," Li Xiumei nodded. 0
"That's good to hear," Sun Qiuhua sighed in relief. 0
"By the way, Auntie, there's something I need to tell you," Zhao Xiaosong suddenly remembered something. 0
"What is it?" Sun Qiuhua asked. 0
"My mom adopted two children from the orphanage; they're younger than Xiu Mei," Zhao Xiaosong said. 0
Upon hearing this news, Sun Qiuhua's expression darkened again. 0
