Bing Tianyi feigned curiosity and asked, "Teacher, what's wrong? Why aren't you speaking?"
"This isn't... isn't that the Rat from back in the day? How is that possible?" Fat Tall Coach murmured. Meanwhile, Qilin was completely stunned. As a newcomer to unlimited fighting, Qilin couldn't possibly be unaware of the Rat's past exploits. Even to this day, Qilin dreamed of becoming someone like the Rat.
"Bro, my eyes aren't deceiving me, right?" Qilin stepped forward and grabbed Bing Tianyi's sleeve, astonished.
Bing Tianyi smiled and said, "Alright, it's getting late. Why don't you give some pointers?"
The Rat stepped forward and said with a wry smile, "Boss Bing, what pointers? You've rushed me so much that I haven't even had time to eat. Let's eat first."
"Okay, let's talk while we eat," Bing Tianyi replied, turning to Fat Tall Coach with a smile. "Coach Yang, could you please go out and help us get some takeout?"
"Sure, no problem. I'll go right now," Coach Yang said as he turned and walked outside.
At this moment, Qilin excitedly approached the Rat and asked, "Senior, when did you come back into the scene? I had no idea! If I had known you were back, I would have come to learn from you directly."
The Rat sighed with a bitter smile and murmured, "What do you mean coming back into the scene? You must have heard about my situation; having made such a big mistake, I wanted to do something else but couldn't manage anything. So here I am, following Boss Bing around."
Seeing how respectful the Rat was towards Bing Tianyi, Qilin suddenly had an idea and smiled at Bing Tianyi. "Brother Bing, could you help me with something?"
Qilin's sudden change in attitude caught Bing Tianyi off guard.
After Qilin finished speaking, Bing Tianyi paused for a few seconds before grinning and saying, "Brother Qilin, just say what you need. No need to be so polite in front of me!"
Seeing Bing Tianyi say this, Qilin was not polite and directly laughed, "I see that you and Brother Mouse have a pretty good relationship. Can you help me plead my case and come out of retirement to coach me?"
Mouse waited for Qilin to finish speaking and then shook his head with a smile, "Even if President Bing asked me, I still can't agree for now."
"Why is that?" Qilin asked, slightly agitated and full of curiosity. Before Mouse could respond, Qilin continued, "I currently pay the Coaching Team three hundred thousand a year. How about I give you six hundred thousand? That should work, right?"
After hearing this, Mouse glanced at Bing Tianyi and thought that this kid seemed quite wealthy. However, for Mouse, money was not the biggest issue at the moment; the biggest issue was his mindset.
Since the last incident, Mouse understood that while money is indeed a good thing, it could easily lead to losing one's freedom if not handled properly.
When weighing these two factors, Mouse felt that freedom was more important than money. Moreover, he was living quite freely now; Bing Tianyi paid him two hundred thousand a year, and he also had a job in the county. Overall, his life was manageable.
The most crucial point was that he knew nothing about Qilin—neither his character nor his demeanor as a fighter in the Ring. If he were to train Qilin and end up with issues similar to those he faced in the past, wouldn't that ruin this young man?
At that moment, Bing Tianyi smiled and said, "Brother, why don't you think about it? I believe Qilin has great potential."
Seeing the excitement on Qilin's face and hearing Bing Tianyi's words, Mouse furrowed his brow in thought for a few seconds before saying, "How about this? You have a match tonight, right? After your match is over, I'll make my decision."
"Sure! Thank you in advance!" Qilin quickly nodded and smiled at Mouse.
Time flew by, and soon it was past ten o'clock in the evening. After finishing dinner, Mouse watched videos of Qilin's matches to provide professional guidance and warm-up exercises before the competition.
As eleven o'clock approached, Mouse arrived at the Ring as Qilin's temporary coach.
As Qilin stepped onto the stage, Bing Tianyi and Mouse stood at the edge of the ring, watching intently. The opponent's entrance exuded an unmistakable air of arrogance.
With the sound of the bell signaling the start of the match, Qilin approached his opponent to wave in greeting, only to be met with an immediate attack—a hook aimed directly at Qilin's jaw.
Fortunately, Qilin reacted quickly enough to evade the punch, which grazed past his chin.
Had that punch landed squarely, the outcome would have been dire; there was no way he would have avoided a knockout.
After narrowly dodging such an aggressive move, Qilin appeared somewhat infuriated. He quickly launched his own counterattack.
His fists rained down on his opponent, who began to retreat continuously. Mouse, standing nearby, murmured, "This won't do at all."
Having spent considerable time in the ring, Mouse understood that while the opponent's power might not be overwhelming, their agility far surpassed Qilin's. Although Qilin seemed fierce in his assault, the number of effective hits he landed was alarmingly low.
If this continued, Qilin's stamina would surely be depleted by the third round.
Realizing this, Mouse shouted loudly, "Stay steady! Don't rush! Slow it down!"
Qilin managed to control his actions in the ring well enough; upon hearing Mouse's call, he immediately reduced his speed.
At this point, over a minute had passed in the match. With five minutes total for the bout, Qilin still had more than three minutes left to showcase his skills in the ring.
Seeing Qilin slow down, the opponent made corresponding adjustments, switching from an orthodox stance to a southpaw stance. During training, Qilin had only prepared for attacks from orthodox fighters; this sudden change left him momentarily bewildered.
Faced with the opponent's powerful offense, Qilin was momentarily stunned and began to retreat continuously.
Seeing this, the opponent pressed forward step by step, striking Qilin with punches while constantly kicking at Qilin's supporting leg with his right leg.
Haozi watched helplessly; although Qilin had an absolute advantage in strength, he was at a significant disadvantage in speed. It is said that in martial arts, speed is paramount. As long as the opponent's speed is fast enough and their accuracy high, even if the punches and kicks do not seem to cause much damage initially, by the third round, the cumulative damage from those strikes would be immeasurable.
Thinking of this, Haozi noticed there were still thirty seconds left and shouted to Qilin, "Find a way to implement ground tactics!"
Upon hearing this, Qilin immediately found a direction for his next attack. However, after thirty seconds of probing, due to the opponent's speed, Qilin still couldn't manage to take him down despite wanting to attack.
As the bell for the first round rang, Bing Tianyi and Haozi, along with two coaches from the audience, quickly rushed onto the stage. While massaging Qilin's body parts, they continuously asked about his physical condition. After all, there was only one minute of rest in between rounds, which was brief, and they had a lot to accomplish.
When Qilin finally said he was fine, Haozi seriously instructed him, "In the second round, do not use your upper body strength to attack unless you are absolutely certain."
"What should I target then?" Qilin asked curiously.
"Spend five minutes protecting your head and ribs, then focus on attacking your opponent's supporting leg. If there's an opportunity, try to lure him into ground combat. Your ground techniques seem quite good!" Haozi carefully arranged this based on Qilin's characteristics.
After hearing this, Qilin nodded and said, "Alright, I'll give it a try."
When the bell rang again, both competitors took to the stage. As in the first round, Qilin stepped forward to greet his opponent. Although this time the opponent did not appear very friendly, he still returned the greeting.
With the match officially starting, Qilin protected his head with both hands and began attacking his opponent's supporting leg as per Haozi's strategy.
Due to the great power of the Qilin, after striking the opponent's thigh with a whip kick, it took less than two minutes for the opponent's thigh to start turning blue and purple, and their movement speed slowed significantly.
Bing Tianyi, seeing this situation, whispered to Mouse, "Isn't this move quite effective?"
"That's not enough," Mouse replied quietly to Bing Tianyi before shouting loudly at the Qilin on stage, "Keep attacking, target the opponent's supporting leg."
With Mouse's guidance, the Qilin steadied its stance. As soon as the opponent charged in, the Qilin moved forward and delivered a powerful attack to their supporting leg with its right leg.
Another two minutes passed, and after four minutes, there was a noticeable change in the opponent's movement. What started as a hard clash had now evolved into the opponent dodging whenever the Qilin attacked.
This clearly indicated that the opponent was enduring significant pain in their leg.
Seeing this, Mouse immediately shouted, "Try to bring it down to the ground!"
Upon hearing this, the Qilin began looking for an opportunity. The opponent also prepared accordingly; when they saw the Qilin attempting to seize position, they raised their knee to interfere with the Qilin's attack.
Mouse felt a surge of joy upon witnessing this. Although this tactic seemed effective on the surface, it was actually depleting the opponent's leg strength continuously.
The second round ended quickly. At this point, the Qilin had already used up two-thirds of its stamina. With one-third remaining, if nothing unexpected happened, it could definitely fight until the end of the third round.
However, for Mouse, if they couldn't directly knock out the opponent in the Ring, then no matter what happened, this match would still be considered a loss.
