For three days, Qin Qi continuously monitored Bing Tianyi while trying to find ways to extract relevant information from Xu Zihe.
However, after three days of effort, Qin Qi was left feeling perplexed.
Logically speaking, Xu Zihe and Bing Tianyi had no grievances against each other, making it unlikely for Xu Zihe to attack Bing Tianyi.
Yet the situation was evident, and disbelief was not an option.
In fact, Bing Tianyi had already realized from Xu Zihe's behavior that even if he killed Xu Zihe, Xu Zihe would not reveal any information related to the mastermind behind the scenes. Therefore, he had no intention of torturing Xu Zihe, as Xu Zihe was not the mastermind in this matter.
Just when Qin Qi was on the verge of despair, a call came in from the police station.
Upon answering the call, Qin Qi asked with excitement, "What’s going on? Did someone report it?"
"Captain Qin, someone claims to be Xu Zihe's family member and is now reporting to us to find Xu Zihe," the junior officer stated directly.
Hearing this, Qin Qi immediately nodded and smiled, saying, "Okay, I’ll head over right away."
Coincidentally, while Qin Qi was on his way to the police station, he received a call from Bing Tianyi. Upon answering, Qin Qi happily told Bing Tianyi, "Someone just reported it."
"Who is it?" Bing Tianyi quickly asked.
Without thinking much, Qin Qi awkwardly replied to Bing Tianyi, "I don’t know yet. I'm currently on my way to the police station. Once I get there and find out more details, I’ll call you."
"Come pick me up; I’ll go with you to take a look," Bing Tianyi said.
Bing Tianyi thought that this matter was directly related to Qin Qi, and now that Qin Qi was involved, no matter how he handled it, it might still be useless.
"Alright, I'll be there right away."
After hanging up the phone, Bing Tianyi washed his face in the room. Just as he went downstairs and stepped outside, Qin Qi drove up to the front. Bing Tianyi didn't have time to say anything to his family before getting into the car, and they hurried off to the police station.
Upon entering the police station, Bing Tianyi was arranged to sit in a room. From where he sat, he could clearly see the layout of the adjacent room, but with the one-way glass, it was impossible for anyone in the next room to see into Bing Tianyi's room.
Within a few minutes, under the arrangement of several officers, a man was brought in.
Seeing a middle-aged man in his late twenties or early thirties in front of him, Bing Tianyi knew that things would soon come to light. After the police took notes, the man was escorted out.
Bing Tianyi quickly stood up and as he stepped out of the door, Qin Qi approached him curiously and asked, "What are you planning to do?"
"Thank you, I think I can investigate this matter soon," Bing Tianyi replied with a confident smile.
During this time, Qin Qi had already helped Bing Tianyi secure the chief's support, so regarding matters concerning Bing Tianyi, Qin Qi could handle them independently. After hearing Bing Tianyi's words, Qin Qi asked curiously, "Do you need any more help?"
Bing Tianyi waved his hand and smiled, "No need for that."
Before he finished speaking, Bing Tianyi hurried out. Just as he reached the entrance of the police station, he happened to see a guy getting into a rental car. Remembering the license plate number, he quickly flagged down a taxi and instructed the driver to follow.
The car sped along until they soon arrived at the entrance of Beizhai Village.
Beizhai Village, a small village located north of the county town, was also the hometown of Qiangzi.
Seeing this, Bing Tianyi paid for the ride and immediately called Nan Hao.
After briefly explaining the situation, Bing Tianyi stealthily followed the man who had called the police until they reached the entrance of a farmhouse. The man looked around before stepping forward to knock on the door and enter.
Bing Tianyi confirmed the location, found a relatively hidden spot, and began waiting for Nan Hao and the others.
Time passed quickly, and soon more than half an hour had gone by. Fortunately, the man who had entered through the gate had not come out yet.
"Kid, you're done for," Bing Tianyi muttered to himself as he saw a Passat speeding toward them from a distance.
Nan Hao got out of the car with Rat and Duck Brother. Bing Tianyi stepped out from his hiding place and said to his brothers, "Follow me."
"Boss, why did we come all this way?" Rat asked, puzzled.
Meanwhile, Duck Brother's eyes were fixated on two small dogs by the roadside, a shameless grin spreading across his face.
Seeing this, Bing Tianyi helplessly smiled at Duck Brother and said, "Are you thinking about going over to play with them too?"
Duck Brother laughed heartily and replied, "These two little creatures have no shame at all! Doing that right by the road."
His comment made the other brothers nearby burst into laughter.
Bing Tianyi didn't say much more and led Nan Hao and the others to the gate. He waved his hand to signal a few brothers to stand aside. They leaned against the wall while Bing Tianyi approached and knocked on the red metal door.
A few seconds later, he saw a middle-aged man in a tank top with a full beard walk out from the West House through the gap in the door.
Opening the door, Bing Tianyi smiled at the man and asked, "Is this Brother Qiang's house?"
"What do you want with him?" The man asked curiously since he had never seen Bing Tianyi before.
As soon as the words were spoken, Bing Tianyi smiled at the dozen brothers standing by the walls and said, "Go in!"
Without any hesitation, the brothers rushed forward to occupy the large courtyard as soon as Bing Tianyi finished speaking.
The man, seeing this, shouted in surprise, "What do you want? Who are you?"
"Heh heh, we don't want anything. We just want to take a look inside," Bing Tianyi replied as he pushed the door open and entered.
Seeing this, the man quickly grabbed a pitchfork that was placed behind the door and swung it towards Bing Tianyi. However, Haizi swiftly dashed over and snatched the pitchfork from his hands.
"You are breaking the law!" the man shouted at Bing Tianyi with a look of fear.
Just then, Qiangzi stepped out from West House and smiled at Bing Tianyi, saying, "Brother Bing, you come to my house as a guest without notifying me in advance. You should have let me prepare!"
Seeing the smile on Qiangzi's face, Bing Tianyi knew he had come to the right place today. He chuckled and said seriously to Qiangzi, "Brother Qiang, I apologize for coming so hurriedly without bringing any gifts."
"Heh heh, it's no problem. Please make yourself at home," Qiangzi said with a smile on his face, though internally he was already cursing. This guy was clearly looking for trouble today and expected gifts?
Bing Tianyi nodded in agreement and walked in with Haizi and Nan Hao. At the entrance, Bing Tianyi smiled at Duck Brother in the courtyard and said, "Duck Brother, please have the brothers wait here for a moment."
Duck Brother nodded and waved to signal the brothers nearby.
Although Duck Brother often appeared lecherous when idle, he was very serious when it came to important matters. So Bing Tianyi had no worries about Duck Brother managing these brothers.
Once inside, Bing Tianyi looked around the room. To his surprise, the man who had entered earlier was sitting calmly on the sofa without any attempt to hide.
Upon seeing Bing Tianyi enter, the man turned to him and directly asked, "Where is Xu Zihe now?"
"Who is this brother?" Bing Tianyi asked curiously, looking at the man in front of him.
Qiangzi, sitting on the sofa, smiled and replied to Bing Tianyi, "Xu Zihe's elder brother."
Upon hearing this, Bing Tianyi was stunned. If this man was indeed Xu Zihe's elder brother, then things were clearly going to get complicated.
"What proof do you have?"
As soon as he finished speaking, the man pulled out a Household Register from his pocket and handed it to Bing Tianyi, along with his identification card.
When Bing Tianyi saw these two documents, he was completely speechless.
No matter how he calculated, Bing Tianyi never expected that Qiangzi would bring his brothers to help him with this matter.
Looking at the documents in his hand, Bing Tianyi immediately began to consider an escape route.
He knew very well that this territory belonged to Qiangzi, and judging by the two documents, both Xu Zihe and the man before him, Xu Zhiqiang, were also villagers of this community. If he made even the slightest mistake now, the entire village could come after them, and the severity of the situation was unimaginable.
"Sorry, it seems I really came at a bad time today," Bing Tianyi said as he prepared to leave with his group of brothers.
What he didn't expect was that once his group entered the village, it was already too late.
At that moment outside the room, Bing Tianyi heard the noise growing louder. Just as he stood up, Xu Zhiqiang stepped forward aggressively, grabbing Bing Tianyi's arm with a fierce look in his eyes and demanding, "Where is my brother right now? If you don't hand him over today, I'll take your life!"
As Xu Zhiqiang spoke, he pulled out a dagger from his pocket and lunged at Bing Tianyi's abdomen.
Fortunately, Haizi had decent reflexes. Just as Xu Zhiqiang made his move, Haizi delivered a swift kick that sent the dagger flying out of Xu Zhiqiang's hand.
Bing Tianyi was startled, breaking out in a cold sweat. He looked at Xu Zhiqiang and used all his strength to push him away.
"Stop, don't be impulsive." Qiangzi saw that Xu Zhiqiang's attempt had failed, and in order to proceed with his own plan, he quickly stood up and shouted.
Seeing this, Xu Zhiqiang pretended to be helpless and shouted at Qiangzi, "Brother Qiang, it was this kid who killed my brother. I must have blood for blood today."
"I told you to stop, so you better stop. If you don't listen, I won't take responsibility for what happens next," Qiangzi said sternly, frowning at Xu Zhiqiang.
Hearing this, Bing Tianyi helplessly asked Xu Zhiqiang, "Don't you know your brother was the one who attacked me first before anything happened?"
"But you're still alive! My brother is already dead," Xu Zhiqiang said fiercely.
In response to Xu Zhiqiang's words, Bing Tianyi asked with a bitter smile, "How do you know your brother is really dead? What if he's still alive?"
"Impossible! I got the news from the police," Xu Zhiqiang shouted angrily at Bing Tianyi.
As soon as he finished speaking, Duck Brother rushed in from the room and quietly said to Bing Tianyi, "Brother Bing, it's not good. There are already hundreds of people gathered outside."
Upon hearing this, Bing Tianyi looked at Qiangzi and sneered, "Brother Qiang, you're playing quite ruthlessly on your own turf."
Qiangzi maintained an innocent expression, looking completely unaware as he said to Bing Tianyi, "Ice Brother, your words really make me feel quite heartbroken."
