As Chen Huaqiang nodded, Bai Jie stepped forward, coming up behind him and giving his shoulder a hearty slap while cheerfully saying, "Brother Chen, you’re here too?"
Hearing this, Chen Huaqiang turned around, looking at Bai Jie in surprise and asked, "I say, Bai Jie, are you here to deliver a flower basket as well?"
"Are you not?" Bai Jie retorted.
"Of course I am. But I think someone as important as Sister Bai like you wouldn’t need to come personally to congratulate. Just sending someone from your team would be more than enough," Chen Huaqiang said, standing in front of Sister Bai as they teased each other.
After a moment, Bing Tianyi smiled at Chen Huaqiang and said, "Uncle, why don’t you and Sister Bai head to the Golden Flower Hotel first? There are still a few people there that you probably know."
"That sounds good; I’ll head over now," Chen Huaqiang replied as he and Bai Jie turned to leave.
Bing Tianyi noticed Chen Qian standing beside her and curiously approached her, asking, "Aren't you going to the hotel?"
"I told my father before I came that I planned to help you," Chen Qian said with a smile. Taking advantage of the moment when no one was paying attention, she kissed Bing Tianyi on the cheek.
Instantly, Bing Tianyi's cheeks flushed red as she looked at Chen Qian with exasperation and said, "We're in public; why would you do that?"
"What’s wrong with it? I’m happy to," Chen Qian huffed lightly and continued walking into the store while saying, "I’m going to find Uncle and Auntie; you can just wait here."
Bing Tianyi forced a smile and turned back to see Brother Kun looking at her with an odd expression. This made Bing Tianyi feel even more awkward.
Seeing that no one was around for the moment, Brother Kun stepped closer to Bing Tianyi and asked with a grin, "Bro, it looks like your relationship with Chen Qian is quite special?"
"It’s really just a normal friendship," Bing Tianyi replied evasively.
Brother Kun was an old hand in the underworld; he could easily see what kind of relationship Bing Tianyi and Chen Qian had. After Bing Tianyi finished speaking, Brother Kun laughed outright and said, "Bro, you don’t need to hide it from me."
"I really don’t; please stop guessing," Bing Tianyi insisted with a forced smile directed at Brother Kun.
Brother Kun glanced at Bing Tianyi with a sly smile, but he was soon taken aback by a girl approaching him. At the same time, Bing Tianyi noticed Mei Fenfeng walking towards them with small steps.
Compared to others, it was obvious that the flower basket Mei Fenfeng was carrying was the cheapest. However, Bing Tianyi could understand, as he knew that Mei Fenfeng came from a very poor family.
Before Mei Fenfeng could get closer, Bing Tianyi quickly called out to Wu Zhaojun beside him, "Brother, come over here for a moment."
Wu Zhaojun hurried over and curiously asked, "Big Brother, what's up?"
"Did you see? Mei Fenfeng is here. You should go over and think of something."
Hearing this from Bing Tianyi, Wu Zhaojun nodded in agreement without hesitation.
As Wu Zhaojun walked towards Mei Fenfeng, Bing Tianyi quietly reminded him, "Be careful when you talk; don't hurt her self-esteem."
Wu Zhaojun nodded, and Bing Tianyi and Brother Kun stood side by side watching as Wu Zhaojun began to converse with Mei Fenfeng.
A couple of minutes passed, and Bing Tianyi was surprised to see that Mei Fenfeng showed no intention of leaving. Instead, she looked sad and raised her head to glance in their direction.
Bing Tianyi sighed helplessly and waved his hand, signaling Wu Zhaojun to bring Mei Fenfeng over temporarily.
Seeing the situation, Wu Zhaojun hurried back to Bing Tianyi's side. Before he could steady himself, he smiled wryly and said, "Big Brother, I couldn't persuade her at all. I said a lot of nice things earlier, but she insisted on personally giving you the flower basket."
Bing Tianyi chuckled and replied to Wu Zhaojun, "Alright then, you can go back to what you were doing."
Once Wu Zhaojun left, Mei Fenfeng had already reached the entrance of the shop. She didn't look at the other flower baskets but stood quietly in front of Bing Tianyi and said softly, "This flower basket is for you. I wish you prosperous business."
"Okay, is there anything else?"
Mei Fenfeng remained standing there for a few seconds before she quietly asked, "Do you need my help with anything?"
Bing Tianyi quickly shook his head and smiled, "No need. If you have something to do, you can leave first. I'll treat you to a meal another day."
"Really not needed?" Mei Fenfeng said, glancing into the store.
Bing Tianyi was completely speechless and said to Mei Fenfeng with clear enunciation, "Is what I'm saying a foreign language? Can't you understand?"
Upon hearing Bing Tianyi's tone, Mei Fenfeng quickly shook her head and said, "No, I..."
"Alright, let's go quickly." Bing Tianyi frowned, waved his hand, and turned away.
Mei Fenfeng stood there dazed for a few seconds before turning to leave.
At that moment, Brother Kun had a mischievous smile on his face. He leaned closer to Bing Tianyi and laughed, "Big Brother, what's your relationship with that girl?"
"Heh heh, I probably owe her grandfather from my past life, and now she's here to repay me," Bing Tianyi said, already feeling like he had made a mess of things.
"Oh come on, that's quite a taste! You didn't get drunk and do something to her, did you?" Brother Kun continued to smile curiously at Bing Tianyi.
Bing Tianyi turned his head and smiled bitterly at Brother Kun. "Alright, please stop teasing me. It's getting late. How about we head to the hotel first?"
Brother Kun took out his phone to check the time and nodded. "So this side?"
"I'll leave this side to my classmates for now." Before he finished speaking, Bing Tianyi called out to Wu Zhaojun and the others, "Brothers, come over here for a moment."
Wu Zhaojun nodded and brought a group of brothers over to Bing Tianyi. After a brief arrangement, Bing Tianyi and Brother Kun got into a car heading towards the hotel.
It was exactly eleven in the morning when they arrived at the hotel. Two of Crow's subordinates were standing at the entrance to greet them. Upon seeing Bing Tianyi and Brother Kun, they stepped forward with smiles and said, "Big Brother, the ordinary folks are all in the second-floor lobby. Crow Brother and Secretary Shi are in the left private room on the third floor."
Bing Tianyi nodded in thanks and went upstairs with Brother Kun.
Once they reached the lobby, most of the guests had already arrived. This included neighbors from around the small shop as well as some classmates from Bing Tianyi's school association; however, most were Crow's subordinates.
Seeing this, Bing Tianyi and Brother Kun first went around thanking each table. After that, they stepped into the private room where Crow was located. Upon entering, they found several empty seats available.
However, Bing Tianyi did not take a seat directly. Instead, after entering, he picked up a wine glass from the table, filled it with wine, and began to toast everyone.
Normally, Bing Tianyi might have had a few more drinks. But recently, he had been abstaining from alcohol.
Just as he was about to toast Shi Tao, Shi Tao stood up and smiled, "Young brother, you are talented and promising. Let's toast to each other. If you don't drink, that would be a bit unreasonable."
Seeing Shi Tao say this, Bing Tianyi felt speechless. Holding the wine glass awkwardly in his hand, he lowered his head and smiled bitterly, "I hope Secretary Shi can understand. Due to some personal reasons recently, I can't drink for the time being."
"Hey kid, this is our county's Secretary Shi. If you don't drink with him, that would be a bit unreasonable," Bai Jie said directly with a laugh as soon as Bing Tianyi finished speaking.
Bing Tianyi's face turned even redder as he stood there helplessly looking at Chen Huaqiang beside him.
Although Chen Huaqiang did not know the details of the situation, since he had already promised his daughter to this young man in front of him, he was now Bing Tianyi's elder.
Just when Bing Tianyi felt stuck in a dilemma, Chen Huaqiang stood up and smiled, "Secretary Shi, how about this? I like this kid, and I just happen to have a daughter at home. So I'll take care of all his drinks today."
Secretary Shi naturally understood Chen Huaqiang's significance; after all, there weren't many millionaires in this county. Moreover, although Chen Huaqiang hadn't made things completely clear, others could certainly hear the implications in his words.
Without thinking much more, Secretary Shi quickly replied with a smile, "Since Mr. Chen has said so, I can't possibly disagree."
"Then thank you, Uncle," Bing Tianyi said as he handed two glasses of wine to Chen Huaqiang and Shi Tao.
After a round of drinks, Chen Huaqiang had consumed nearly ten small cups at least. However, at this moment, he still appeared unfazed and was chatting happily.
Seeing this, Bai Jie spoke up again with a laugh: "Kid, look at your Uncle Chen; that's what true composure looks like."
"Haha, Sister Bai, since you say that, do you want to compete with my Uncle Chen?" After saying this, Bing Tianyi smiled at Bai Jie.
Upon hearing this, Bai Jie clapped her hands and stood up laughing: "Kid, since you're so mischievous, I'll indulge your wishes. But let's skip the competition; how about Brother Chen and I finish this bottle of wine together?"
As soon as she said this, the atmosphere at the table became lively. Secretary Shi didn't think much and raised his thumb with a smile: "Indeed a heroine among women! Sister Bai, I'm rooting for you!"
"Sister Bai, if we can't beat Chen today, it would be a bit embarrassing," the Crow said with a laugh.
Bai Jie wore a confident smile on her face and whispered to Brother Kun beside her, "A-Kun, go outside and get two small bowls."
A-Kun nodded eagerly in response.
In just a few minutes, A-Kun returned with two clean small bowls. Bai Jie placed the bowls on the table, and a bottle of white liquor was just enough to fill both bowls.
Setting them on the table, Bai Jie said directly to Chen Huaqiang, "Brother Chen, here’s to you—one punch equals one bowl."
Chen Huaqiang didn't hesitate at all; he stood up and laughed, "Since Sister Bai has spoken, how can I back down as a seven-foot man? How would I survive in business after that?"
As he spoke, Chen Huaqiang extended his hand, while everyone at the table watched intently.
As the two began to throw punches, those around them were nervously sweating for one of them. They understood that if they lost, it would mean downing a pound of liquor. Even for someone with a good tolerance, drinking a pound of liquor in just a few minutes would surely lead to drunkenness.
Three minutes later, the two finally stopped. Bai Jie looked at Chen Huaqiang's pained smile and lifted one bowl of liquor. She smiled at him and said, "Brother Chen, I'll drink this bowl for you. However, I hope that in the future, if I need your help, you'll lend me a hand."
"What Sister Bai said is unnecessary; we are all family here," Chen Huaqiang replied. After saying this, he raised his bowl to clink with the one in Bai Jie's hand. With a crisp sound from the two small bowls, they both downed their full bowls of liquor.
