After dinner, it was already past four o'clock. The two of them went out, and Liu Qian saw Bing Tianyi off to the taxi before heading back to the Urban Management Bureau alone.
Bing Tianyi arrived at the entrance of Kangshun Community by taxi. After getting out, he glanced around. Locking onto a nearby fruit shop, he went in and casually bought some seasonal fruits before heading towards the address Liu Qian had given him.
Before long, he reached Captain Sun's doorstep. Bing Tianyi hesitated for a moment before stepping forward to ring the doorbell.
It wasn't long before a tall woman opened the door. After looking at Bing Tianyi, she frowned slightly and asked in a low voice, "Who are you looking for?"
"Is this Captain Sun's house?" Bing Tianyi asked.
"What do you want with him?" Captain Sun's Wife asked directly from the doorway.
Bing Tianyi showed a hint of embarrassment on his face and quietly replied, "I need to talk to Captain Sun about something."
"He's not home; come back another day," she said, turning around and closing the door firmly.
Seeing this, Bing Tianyi felt no desire to beg at the doorstep. In the past, he would have kicked the door a few times and then walked away.
But now, Bing Tianyi felt helpless. After all, ten thousand yuan was a significant expense for his relatively poor family. If he could find it, it would make things easier when he opened a shop for his family.
Thinking this, Bing Tianyi could only squat at the door and wait quietly.
A long time passed before Captain Sun's Wife came out again. Seeing Bing Tianyi squatting at the door, she spoke irritably, "What are you doing here? I already told you he's not home. Is it fun just sitting here? Hurry up and leave; otherwise, people will think we did something to you."
Bing Tianyi looked up at Captain Sun's Wife and smiled as he said, "I'm sorry, but I really need to wait for Captain Sun to come home today."
As soon as he finished speaking, Captain Sun's voice came from inside, sounding somewhat tired as he asked, "What's all that noise outside? Is someone looking for me?"
Captain Sun's Wife replied unhappily, "I don't know where this wild kid came from; he's just sitting at our doorstep and won't leave."
Upon hearing this, Captain Sun chuckled bitterly and said, "Just give him some money to make him go away."
"Is it just because you have money?" Captain Sun's wife angrily retorted.
After saying this, Captain Sun's wife sternly told Bing Tianyi, "You better get out of here quickly, or I will call the police to have you arrested."
With no other choice, Bing Tianyi could only stand at the door and shout, "Captain Sun, it's me."
Captain Sun paused for a moment in the room before quickly coming out of the bedroom. Upon seeing the helpless Bing Tianyi at the door, he immediately said, "Oh, it's you, Big Brother! Why didn't you call before coming? Come in!"
The sudden change in attitude left Captain Sun's wife speechless. She turned to look at her husband and then coldly asked, "Who is he?"
"Alright, you go buy some good ingredients. Oh, never mind, just go outside and book a table at Ping Lou for dinner tonight," Captain Sun said cheerfully while looking at Bing Tianyi.
Hearing this, Bing Tianyi quickly waved his hand and smiled, "Captain Sun, you don't need to be so polite. I'm here today to ask you for a favor."
"Come on, sit down. Let's talk," Captain Sun said with a smile.
Bing Tianyi nodded and sat on Captain Sun's sofa. He then looked up at Captain Sun and continued, "Captain Sun, did what happened recently cause you any trouble?"
Captain Sun smiled broadly and replied honestly, "No, luckily I took leave those days; otherwise, it would have definitely affected me. I originally planned to thank you properly, but I've had too many social engagements lately and haven't found the right time."
"It's fine as long as everything is okay," Bing Tianyi said awkwardly while sitting on the sofa.
Meanwhile, Captain Sun's wife glared at Captain Sun and then asked, "Sun Hua, tell me who he is. You keep bringing unknown people home; do you even want to continue living like this?"
Faced with his wife's questioning, Captain Sun awkwardly glanced at Bing Tianyi and quickly stood up with a smile. "Alright, you go to the room first; there are some things I'll explain to you another day."
"No way! You need to explain this to me right now," Captain Sun's wife insisted sharply.
Captain Sun sighed helplessly and looked at his wife. "This young man is the one I told you about who helped me take leave. If it weren't for him, I would probably still be dealing with legal issues now; how could I possibly get promoted?"
"Sun Hua, are you out of your mind? How could you believe a little scammer? By the way, wasn't your leave that day because of my nephew's birthday?" Captain Sun's wife maintained her stern expression and spoke clearly.
Bing Tianyi found it hard to bear such an insult. Helpless, he stood up and looked directly at Sun Hua's Wife, saying, "Sister, if I'm not mistaken, you and Captain Sun have been married for eight years now, and you still haven't had any children, right?"
In truth, Bing Tianyi did not want to bring this up at that moment, but the woman before him was indeed pushing her luck. With no other option, he used this statement to silence her.
Upon hearing this, Sun Hua's Wife was taken aback. After a few seconds, she began to scold him angrily, "Little liar, get out of here right now! Whether or not we have children is our family matter. Faced with Sun Hua's Wife's tirade, Bing Tianyi could only smile helplessly. He turned to Sun Hua and said, "Captain Sun, I apologize for the interruption today; I hope you don't mind."
As he spoke, Bing Tianyi turned and walked toward the door.
However, just as he was about to reach the entrance, Bing Tianyi suddenly stopped and turned back to Sun Hua's Wife, stating clearly, "You had an abortion when you were eighteen in the autumn."
After saying this, without giving it another thought, Bing Tianyi turned and went downstairs.
Sun Hua stood there in shock for a moment before turning to look at his wife. At that moment, Sun Hua's Wife was also dumbfounded. She knew that when she was eighteen, she was studying in another city and that her family was unaware of this matter. How could this young man know about it?
In her mind, Sun Hua's Wife kept questioning herself. To be honest, both she and Sun Hua had lived together for eight years without having children—a shared hardship between them.
They had tried countless methods to conceive a child. They spent a lot of money on various treatments but still found themselves managing a household that was on the verge of falling apart.
As Bing Tianyi turned around and walked from the fourth floor down to the second floor, he suddenly heard Sun Hua calling out loudly behind him, "Big Brother, wait a moment! I have something to say."
Bing Tianyi stopped and looked at Sun Hua rushing down the stairs. He said earnestly, "Captain Sun, you should go home quickly. Associating with someone like me will only bring you trouble in the long run."
Sun Hua's face turned bright red as he awkwardly replied to Bing Tianyi, "Big Brother, my wife has been spoiled at home. I hope you can forgive any rudeness today."
"This isn't about forgiveness; I'm genuinely curious how you ended up with someone like your wife. To be honest, she doesn't even know basic etiquette—let alone anything else," Bing Tianyi bluntly expressed his thoughts in front of Sun Hua.
Sun Hua's expression grew even darker as he stood there rubbing his hands together. After Bing Tianyi finished speaking, he awkwardly said in a low voice, "You're right, Big Brother. How about this: can I invite you to dinner now?"
"No thanks; I've just eaten," Bing Tianyi replied as he turned around again to leave.
Sun Hua hurriedly stepped forward and grabbed Bing Tianyi, who was about to leave. With a forced smile on his face, he said to Bing Tianyi, "Big Brother, what is it that you wanted to talk to me about today? Just tell me now, and I will definitely help you with whatever I can."
Upon hearing Sun Hua's words and recalling the ten thousand yuan he had lost, Bing Tianyi felt there was no need to hide anything. He replied directly to Sun Hua, "Liu Qian from the Urban Management Bureau knows about this matter. You can just ask him when you get to work."
With that, Bing Tianyi turned and walked away.
Sun Hua stood there, sighed, and angrily turned back home.
After leaving Sun Hua's house, Bing Tianyi wandered aimlessly down the street, feeling quite helpless. He wanted to open a shop for his parents, but securing the necessary funds had become a primary issue.
Although the amount of money needed wasn't particularly large, that was only true for families that were somewhat well-off. For a poor family like his, thirty thousand yuan was undoubtedly a significant challenge.
As he walked home in the evening and was nearing his front door, he heard Wu Zhaojun shouting from a distance, "Brother Bing, wait up!"
Bing Tianyi stopped in his tracks and turned to see Wu Zhaojun approaching with Pang Yu and others behind him. Once he reached Bing Tianyi's side, Wu Zhaojun smiled and asked, "Where have you been today? I've been looking for you since this afternoon and just now saw you."
Bing Tianyi forced a smile and quietly replied, "I haven't been anywhere. What do you want from me?"
Wu Zhaojun pulled out a wad of cash from his pocket and said with a grin, "Brother Bing, you really should buy yourself a phone. That way we can stay in touch better."
After saying this, Wu Zhaojun handed over ten thousand yuan directly to Bing Tianyi.
Seeing this, Bing Tianyi was completely stunned. However, he quickly regained his composure and asked Wu Zhaojun directly, "Brother, where did this money come from?"
