The little girl finished speaking, and Bing Tianyi sighed, squatting on the steps and pretending to read fortunes. He pinched his fingers and then looked up at the little girl, saying directly, "Don't worry, your father will definitely recover completely." 0

Upon hearing this, Zhang Xiaotong's expression of sadness instantly disappeared, replaced by excitement as she asked Bing Tianyi, "Brother, is what you said true?" 0

"People in our line of work never lie," Bing Tianyi said seriously. 0

After hearing this, Zhang Xiaotong didn't think twice and pulled out two hundred yuan from her pocket, handing it to Bing Tianyi. 0

Seeing the two red bills, Bing Tianyi felt a heavy weight in his heart. He glanced at them and after a few seconds, smiled and said, "I always charge my friends two yuan for fortune-telling." 0

"That feels too embarrassing," Zhang Xiaotong said with a hint of awkwardness on her face. 0

"There's nothing to be embarrassed about. Keep this money, but I need to make something clear to you," Bing Tianyi's expression suddenly became serious as he spoke clearly to Zhang Xiaotong. 0

Zhang Xiaotong listened and curiously asked Bing Tianyi, "What is it?" 0

"The possibility of your father's recovery lies mostly with you. To put it in our terms, you are your father's benefactor in this lifetime. If I’m not mistaken, the day you get accepted into medical school will be the day your father can get up and walk again," Bing Tianyi said word by word to Zhang Xiaotong. 0

Zhang Xiaotong's expression suddenly dimmed. She lowered her head in silence for a few seconds before stammering, "Brother, I study at Vocational School; it should be impossible for me to get into medical school." 0

"Anything is possible," Bing Tianyi replied without hesitation. After saying this, he continued, "Of course, you have to believe in yourself and also believe in your father. You are your father's benefactor, and your father is naturally your benefactor as well. So when benefactors meet each other, anything can happen." 0

After he finished speaking, Dimples quickly stepped forward and said to Zhang Xiaotong, "Xiaotong, don't worry. Brother Bing's fortune-telling is very accurate. That night when we were singing at KTV, I only wrote one character and he figured out the exact location of my old furniture." 0

Dimples' words seemed to give Zhang Xiaotong a sense of reassurance. She smiled at Dimples and nodded, saying, "Thank you, Meng Jie. I will definitely study hard from now on." 0

Bing Tianyi nodded, a look of relief spreading across his face. 0

Dimples smiled slightly, holding Zhang Xiaotong in her arms and patting her shoulder, then whispered, "Xiaotong, you should go to the hospital now. I will visit your father another day." 0

"Okay," Zhang Xiaotong replied, pulling out two crumpled coins from her pocket and handing them to Bing Tianyi. 0

Bing Tianyi accepted the coins and put them into his own pocket, watching as Zhang Xiaotong gradually walked away. At that moment, his heart felt heavier; he thought about how the pillar of a family had suddenly been rendered incapacitated by someone else. No one could say how this family would manage in the future. 0

Once Zhang Xiaotong left, Dimples turned to a few young men nearby and said directly, "Alright, you all go to Emperor's Glory and wait for me. I'll be there shortly." 0

The young men nodded in agreement and turned to leave. 0

Bing Tianyi remained seated on the steps, looking up at the blue sky where a flock of geese was flying south. Everything seemed so peaceful and beautiful. The only thing that was not calm was Bing Tianyi's mood. 0

Dimples sat beside Bing Tianyi and, like him, glanced at the blue sky before lowering her head to ask, "Was what you said earlier true?" 0

"What do you think?" Bing Tianyi replied without turning to look at Dimples, speaking softly. 0

Dimples was different from other girls; she had been mingling in society since she was young. Although she was a student, her social experience surpassed that of many young people. 0

Thus, after hearing Bing Tianyi's earlier words, she could basically conclude that what he said was false. 0

Now hearing Bing Tianyi say this only confirmed her thoughts. 0

"Why are you deceiving her?" Dimples asked quietly, her voice laced with reproach. 0

Bing Tianyi sighed helplessly and said, "If I don't deceive her, should I let her carry the burden of her father's paralysis throughout her youth?" 0

Upon hearing this, Dimples showed a look of surprise on her face. She turned to look at Bing Tianyi and after a few seconds, she asked, "You're not joking, are you? Is it really for her?" 0

"Of course." 0

"So you're saying her father will spend his whole life in a hospital bed?" Dimples asked Bing Tianyi with sadness in her eyes. 0

"That seems to be the case. If Zhang Xiaotong can get into medical school, maybe things could change a bit," Bing Tianyi said earnestly. 0

Dimples smiled, stood up, and brushed the dirt off her backside before saying with a grin, "I didn't expect you to actually be a good person." 0

"What? You think I'm not a good person?" Bing Tianyi retorted. 0

"Not really." 0

"What makes you say that?" 0

"Your head, Bald." After saying this, Dimples laughed and turned to walk away. 0

Bing Tianyi touched his head; his hair had grown quite a bit over the past few days. It felt rough to the touch, like sandpaper. 0

As Dimples walked further away, she called out cheerfully to Bing Tianyi, "Brother Bing, I'll treat you to dinner someday!" 0

"Thank you," Bing Tianyi nodded in agreement. 0

Once Dimples completely disappeared from view, Bing Tianyi let out a deep sigh. Even now, he was still troubled by the situation concerning Zhang Xiaotong. 0

Of course, more than that, what worried Bing Tianyi was not just Zhang Xiaotong alone. He thought about how in his small county town, the urban management officers would often clash with street vendors every year. Minor conflicts could lead to light injuries and hospitalization for the vendors, while more serious incidents could result in death or paralysis happening from time to time. 0

In this situation, it was unimaginable to think about the nationwide implications. 0

Change was the only thought in Bing Tianyi's mind at that moment. But how to change? That was undoubtedly a problem, as the city management was appointed by the state. To change that would mean altering many regulations and systems. In doing so, how many people would lose their jobs, and how many vendors would recklessly set up their stalls? 0

Various unknown factors caused his simple and naive idea to shatter in an instant. 0

He didn't know how much time had passed when two elderly men, who had gone out for a meal, staggered over. Seeing Bing Tianyi looking dejected, the old man who usually sat to his right couldn't help but ask curiously, "Kid, what's wrong? Did you not open today?" 0

"We're open," Bing Tianyi forced a smile and replied directly to the two old men. 0

The two elderly men sat down and continued to ask, "How many customers have you had?" 0

"One." 0

"What? Just one?" The old man closer to Bing Tianyi asked in surprise. 0

"Well, there's nothing I can do," Bing Tianyi said frankly. 0

Just as he finished speaking, the other old man suddenly said to Bing Tianyi, "Kid, your business is here." 0

Hearing this, Bing Tianyi looked up in front of him and was taken aback to see Mei Fenfeng approaching him with a serving of Rice Noodle in her hand. 0

Perhaps in an effort to look more attractive in front of the man she admired or to change her image, Mei Fenfeng wore a pink dress today and had on a new pair of high heels. 0

To cover the black spots and large freckles on her face, she didn't know how much makeup she had applied. At first glance, Mei Fenfeng looked like one of those entertainers from Island Nation. 0

However, despite this, the large mole on her face and a few dark hairs were still very noticeable. 0

Bing Tianyi looked on, silently praying that none of his classmates would pass by at that moment. 0

Mei Fenfeng stopped in front of Bing Tianyi, lowered her head, and handed him the Rice Noodle while softly saying, "You haven't eaten anything since this morning, here." 0

Bing Tianyi was taken aback and curiously asked, "How did you know?" 0

"I was over there," Mei Fenfeng replied, glancing towards the nearby public restroom. 0

"You've been standing there the whole time?" Bing Tianyi asked, finding it hard to accept. 0

Upon hearing this, Mei Fenfeng quickly explained, "My grandfather is watching the restroom over there. I came here to play today and happened to see you." 0

What Bing Tianyi didn't know was that Mei Fenfeng had already known he was there for a few days since he started fortune-telling in the square. So many times, she would come near the square, standing at a distance to secretly watch him. 0

Seeing the expression on Mei Fenfeng's face, Bing Tianyi truly didn't know what to say. To be honest, during his last time in high school, his relationship with Mei Fenfeng wasn't very good. Like many other students in their class, he found her unappealing, mostly due to her looks. 0

However, after everything that happened before his suicide, Bing Tianyi's attitude towards Mei Fenfeng began to change. But that was only temporary; as he returned to high school and reintegrated into this large circle, he felt an indescribable sensation towards her. 0

This feeling included hatred, indebtedness, gratitude, and of course, pity. 0

"Do you have anything else to do?" Bing Tianyi asked quietly after placing the Rice Noodle aside. 0

"Who was that girl just now?" Mei Fenfeng asked curiously while still looking down. 0

"Why do you want to know?" Bing Tianyi couldn't help but emphasize his tone when asking her. 0

Mei Fenfeng quickly shook her head and said, "No, it's nothing. I was just asking." 0

After saying this, Mei Fenfeng clenched her hands tightly. A few seconds later, as she turned to leave, she said directly, "Rice Noodle, hurry up and eat. It was just cooked; otherwise, it will get cold." 0

Bing Tianyi didn't have time to respond before Mei Fenfeng ran off. 0

Seeing this scene, Bing Tianyi, who was in his twenties and emotionally mature, felt a pang of sadness deep inside. Perhaps this is life; perhaps this is fate. 0

He thought to himself that if Mei Fenfeng didn't look the way she did, she probably wouldn't be so affectionate and concerned about him. 0

Looking at it from another angle, what if he were in Mei Fenfeng's position? 0

As Bing Tianyi pondered this, he turned to look at the steaming Rice Noodle beside him. After a moment of silence, he picked it up and took a bite but couldn't help but set the Rice Noodle aside again. 0

At that moment, a young man not far away shouted loudly, "Big Brother, you really are here!" 0

Looking up, Bing Tianyi saw the city management officer he had met yesterday quickly walking toward him. 0

"Big Brother, you actually came!" Bing Tianyi temporarily pushed aside his worries and smiled at the city management officer. 0

"Yeah, I saw you hadn't eaten yet. Come on, let me treat you to a meal," the officer said with a smile upon seeing the Rice Noodle beside Bing Tianyi. 0
