For as long as he could remember, Bing Tianyi had always been law-abiding, yet he had never been scolded by the police like this before.
So, as soon as the Policewoman finished speaking, Bing Tianyi dropped to his knees.
The Policewoman was taken aback by Bing Tianyi's action. In her time working on cases, she had encountered similar situations; however, whenever someone knelt down, it was certain that they had done something illegal.
Thinking of this, and seeing the old monk slumped on the sofa, the Policewoman sneered, "So you know you've done something wrong? But what I said was for you to squat down, not kneel!"
Upon hearing this, Bing Tianyi slowly got back up, while the Policewoman revealed a cold smile. She then muttered, "Young and already hard of hearing!"
After saying this, the Policewoman turned to a few officers nearby and instructed, "You two investigate the scene; you are responsible for searching for evidence. And you and Xiaocheng need to carry the body out for further examination."
Once the Policewoman finished speaking, the group quickly sprang into action. She then glanced at Bing Tianyi and said to two officers, "Alright, you two take this kid back to the station."
After her words, Bing Tianyi hurried forward to explain himself to the Policewoman. However, before he could reach her, she executed a swift takedown maneuver that sent him crashing to the ground.
The other two officers quickly stepped in and restrained Bing Tianyi while sneering, "Look who you're dealing with! This is the station's female combat champion, Qin Qi!"
As they spoke, silver handcuffs were fastened around Bing Tianyi's wrists. More importantly, the sudden takedown from this woman left him in excruciating pain, rendering him speechless except for groans of agony.
He was taken to a police car and subsequently brought to the interrogation room of the county police station. The cramped room contained two broken cameras. Bing Tianyi had no idea what had transpired at the old monk's house until around five in the afternoon when hunger became unbearable and someone finally opened the door.
"Go in, you only have ten minutes. You must come out after ten minutes," a young officer's voice came from the door, followed by the trembling arrival of his parents into the room.
Seeing Bing Tianyi, Father Bing stepped forward and slapped his son hard across the face.
With a loud smack, Bing Tianyi looked completely innocent.
Mother Bing quickly stepped in, pulling Father Bing away, and cried, "What has happened has already happened. Don't blame our son anymore; we should find out what exactly is going on."
"What is going on? So many people saw it; he knelt before the police begging for mercy!" Father Bing shouted angrily.
Upon hearing this, Bing Tianyi hurriedly explained, "Dad, listen to me, it’s not like that."
"What do you mean it's not like that? That old monk has lived here for nearly a year, and no one has ever entered his room. Why did you go in?"
With no other choice, Bing Tianyi had to tell them everything that had happened.
However, to his surprise, after hearing it all, Father Bing's yellowed teeth clicked together as he took a few seconds before angrily saying, "You little brat, don't think your father is a fool. The police said the man died over a week ago and even met with you yesterday! If you're lying, I won't care about you anymore."
"What? He died over a week ago?" Bing Tianyi asked in shock, but at that moment he looked towards his mother with a gentler expression.
Mother Bing nodded in response.
After thinking for a long time, Bing Tianyi finally said softly, "No matter what happens, everything I just said is the truth. You can rest assured; if I am upright, I have nothing to fear. I believe the police will handle this fairly."
After Father Bing and Mother Bing passed away, Bing Tianyi touched his rumbling stomach and sighed. He recalled the first divination he made for himself when he received the "Guanyin Divination." Could it be that this year would bring him another year of misfortune?
Just as this thought crossed his mind, he heard a greeting from outside: "Captain Qin, how is the investigation going?"
"Just mind your own business," Qin Qi replied coldly, clearly unappreciative.
After saying this, Qin Qi and another male colleague pushed open the door.
Upon seeing Qin Qi, Bing Tianyi suddenly recalled a familiar face. Could this girl be the policewoman who had saved a drowning boy years ago?
Thinking of this, before Qin Qi could speak, Bing Tianyi nervously asked in a low voice, "Officer, are you twenty-two years old this year? Did you graduate from Lan City Police Academy…"
"Shut up!" Before Bing Tianyi could finish his sentence, Qin Qi snapped at him.
Hearing this, Bing Tianyi could only stop, looking helplessly at the beautiful woman before him.
Qin Qi quickly unfolded the notes in her hand and began to question Bing Tianyi as usual.
There were no playful remarks or any teasing behavior towards Qin Qi; Bing Tianyi simply answered each of her questions obediently.
However, when Qin Qi asked about the last time Bing Tianyi saw the old monk, his answer instantly brought an expression of anger to her face!
