Chapter 204: Professional Adventurer
The woman named Marthe looked up in surprise, pointing at herself in disbelief and pouting, "You want me to go back? No way, Yu, I want to stay here with you!"
"Be good and wait for my news." Yu Yu's tone showed no sign of compromise despite Marthe's coaxing. Marthe, feeling helpless, reluctantly got dressed, shot us an annoyed glance, and left.
Suddenly, only the three of us remained in the room.
The phone on the table continued to play soft and pleasant music, but Yu Yu had already stood up from the sofa and walked towards us step by step. Xianxian and I stayed seated; I felt that this person meant no harm and was curious about what he wanted to discuss with us after sending that woman away.
"You two." Once Yu Yu reached us, he crossed his arms and squinted at us, saying, "You seem a bit familiar."
"Familiar? Are you mistaken?" Xianxian raised an eyebrow and asked in surprise.
Yu Yu didn't answer but said, "Wait a moment~," then went to check his phone as if searching for something.
We watched his actions with curiosity as he carefully examined the phone screen. After swiping a few times with his finger, he joyfully exclaimed, "Found it!" He then walked over to us, turned the phone screen toward us, and proudly said, "Look, isn't that you two up there?"
When Yu Yu pointed the phone at us, I had already glanced over. Since it was a domestic phone with a large screen, it was easy to see. The screen displayed a photo with a ship in the background and many people on board. I took one look and felt that scene was very familiar. Hearing his words made me suddenly recall that this photo was taken when we boarded the ship and spoke with our employer Yang Qi!
But when exactly was this photo taken? How did I not notice it at all back then?
"You are Tomb Raiders, right?" Seeing that we remained silent, Yu Yu spoke again.
We didn't deny it; Xianxian looked at him curiously and asked, "How do you have this photo?"
I was also very curious. Not only did I not hear any sound of a camera taking a picture at that time, but he wasn't even on the ship then. So... could it have been captured by a video camera? Yes, that seemed likely since there were no other boats around ours at that time.
He and Yang Qi are either in cahoots or there is a traitor on Yang Qi's ship, or something like that...
"How did you get it?" Yu Yu repeated, then smiled and said, "I got it from a friend~"
"Your friend is Yang Qi?" I looked at the man in disbelief. Could it be that the world is really getting smaller? Why do I keep running into 'people I know' wherever I go? I couldn't help but question fate; it was simply... unfathomable.
While I was thinking, I heard Yu Yu scoff, "Yang Qi? Pfft, he’s not my friend." He set his phone aside again, sat back on the stool, elegantly crossed his legs, and said, "Since you don't know, it won't hurt to tell you."
We curiously waited for Yu Yu's explanation. Just as he was about to speak, he asked, "What do you think of Yang Qi?"
"He seems quite composed on the outside and ruthless in his actions," Xianxian said briefly. I nodded and added, "Although I've only met him once, I also feel that he can be quite ruthless and has a strong desire to win. He didn't even blink when going into such a dangerous place."
"Well, that's understandable. After all, he's from the Yang Family branch. If he wasn't ruthless and didn't compete, that would be too unlikely," Xianxian said while lounging back and crossing her legs leisurely as she analyzed.
Yu Yu raised an eyebrow and smiled, "So it seems you all don't think highly of him?"
"Not necessarily. Since we have no connections, there's nothing to think highly or lowly of," I replied, recalling Yang Qi's actions back then. In reality, there wasn't much to it; it's just that this person gave me the impression of being somewhat scheming.
"From what you're saying, can I analyze that your friend’s relationship with Yang Qi is quite... um, delicate?" Xianxian teased as she looked at Yu Yu.
"Yes," Yu Yu didn't hide anything further and said, "My friend’s surname is also Yang; his name is Yang Bin."
"Yang Bin?" I instinctively looked at Xianxian, wondering what the relationship between Yang Bin and Yang Qi could be. After all, they must be part of the same family.
Xianxian immediately showed a knowing expression and smiled, "I see now." Noticing my confusion, she explained further: "Fengfeng, this Yang Bin has quite a background; not only is he from the main branch of the Yang Family, but he is also the legitimate eldest son and only child! As for that Yang Qi, he's just a member from the branch family of the Yang Family. In a crowd, he might not even be noticed. Hehe~"
"You seem to know quite a bit," Yu Yu chuckled.
"When you're out in society, you have to know some things about the current situation, right? Second Young Master of the Yu Family?" Xianxian said while revealing Yu Yu's identity.
Yu Yu showed no signs of surprise; after all, we already knew Yu Yu's name. Xianxian should have suspected this person's identity long ago. Now that it was known that he was friends with Young Master Yang Yang Shan, his identity was naturally revealed.
"But your friend seems to care nothing about social issues," Yu Yu said, a smirk playing on his lips.
Xianxian shot me a disdainful glance and replied, "He really doesn't care about anything." Then, changing the subject, he smiled and added, "But as long as one of us knows, that's enough."
"You two have a great relationship!" Yu Yu remarked sarcastically, scoffing, "People in this society are all one way on the surface and another behind the scenes." He looked at us enviously and continued, "But I've observed you for a long time and can tell that your feelings for each other are genuine."
"Hey, hey, hey! Can you watch what you say?" Xianxian suddenly became unhappy, glaring at Yu Yu. "What you said is really misleading! I have no feelings for him!"
I shot a disdainful glance at Xianxian, my lips twitching uncontrollably. Why did I feel an impulse to smack him?
"This guy is just used to being dramatic; don't pay him any mind." After expressing my disdain for Xianxian, I turned to Yu Yu.
Yu Yu just smiled, his two Eyeballs sparkling as he looked at us, making me feel somewhat uncomfortable. Seeing him like this, I couldn't help but wonder if he really misunderstood us. Just as I was about to explain that I had no interest in men, Yu Yu asked, "When is your next activity?"
Huh? I was momentarily taken aback as he continued, "Well, since you're Tomb Raiders, you must be going down to work again, right? How about considering taking me along for some fun?"
"Fun?" Xianxian twitched his lips and grinned mischievously. "Aren't you afraid of going down and not coming back?"
"Don't worry; I'm very capable!" Yu Yu confidently patted his chest and raised his eyebrows proudly. "I'll definitely come back."
"Is that so?" Xianxian seemed unconvinced and replied, "Even if you say that, you'll probably be disappointed. We currently have no plans to go tomb raiding."
"No way?!" Yu Yu looked at us in disbelief.
I remained silent as Xianxian countered, "Just based on a photo to determine we're Tomb Raiders? That seems a bit hasty and insufficiently investigated. Are you really sure we're Tomb Raiders?"
Yu Yu blinked. "Aren't you?"
"Not really!" Xianxian said with a confident and proud smile, "The name Tomb Raider is too lowbrow. Please call us professional explorers; Tomb Raiding is merely a side job. Wherever there are treasures, we will go."
This is indeed true!
If the clues for the Divine Sign weren't in a tomb, we probably wouldn't be going Tomb Raiding at all. Moreover, so far, all the places we've been to are related to immortality or the Divine Sign or the Demon Clan. We haven't visited any other tombs, whether high-end or low-end. So, we really can't consider ourselves professional Tomb Raiders. As Xianxian said, we are just explorers!
"It's all the same," Yu Yu waved his hand dismissively. "After all, we're just going out for an adventure."
"Consider this my repayment for saving you this time; you have to take me along next time!" He emphasized again, "Remember, you can't escape or back out!"
Hearing this, I couldn't help but curiously ask, "Why choose us?" We had only just met, and for such a dangerous endeavor as exploration, someone from a wealthy background like him should be able to hire more professional individuals. Did he really trust us that much?
"I've investigated you," Yu Yu said with a devilish smile. "Of course, as a seasoned friend, I naturally want to help. However, I've had people look into your backgrounds for quite some time. Aside from this college student, it seems you have no other identities. But there’s no such thing as a wall that doesn’t let the wind through, especially in business. I believe you are well aware of our family's strength." The last sentence was directed at Xianxian.
Xianxian nodded. "I admit that your Yu Family has a strong position in the business world, so..."
"So it’s not difficult to investigate how rapidly your reputation has spread in this industry," Yu Yu interjected, seemingly oblivious to the saying "the more you know, the quicker you die."
Clap clap clap...
Xianxian applauded. "Not bad, not bad; your Yu Family indeed has such strength."
