Chapter 203: Not a Bad Person
The beautiful man's gaze shifted from my face down to the wound where the dagger was embedded, and he calmly asked, "Did you all take a wrong turn?"
"Hehe, we're just borrowing this place for a bit, you don't mind, do you? Haha~" Xianxian said to the man in front of us without a hint of embarrassment or awkwardness.
"What if I say I do mind?" The man, dressed in a cute yet sexy pajama, carried the beauty beside him and walked over to the sofa, surveying us with a lazy raised eyebrow.
As soon as the man's words fell, Xianxian deliberately twisted his meaning and cheerfully replied, "Since you don't mind, could you please bring us a basin of water? Can't you see there's an injured person here?" I stood awkwardly to the side, feeling somewhat embarrassed. Xianxian was really amusing, acting as if we were at home in someone else's place. The owner of the house was equally amusing; after a moment of surprise upon seeing us, he continued to watch us as if we were a spectacle.
What on earth is happening in this world? Why do I feel that some things and some people are so strange...
"Yu Yu, who are these two? It's one thing to come uninvited, but do they think we're their servants?" The woman with big wavy hair nestled in the man's arms glared at us with evident displeasure, her eyes clearly expressing her impatience with our presence.
I smiled awkwardly; it seemed we had interrupted something for the two of them—no, perhaps just for one of them?
The man named Yu Yu did not respond to the woman's words but looked at us with a half-smile and told her, "Go get them a basin of hot water."
What!? The woman widened her eyes in disbelief, but Yu Yu merely curled his lips, showing no signs of changing his mind. Seeing this, the woman had no choice but to reluctantly stand up from the sofa and sway her curvy figure to fetch water.
"Let's go." Seeing this, Xianxian became even less considerate of being in someone else's home and dragged me toward another sofa. Since there was heating in this room, it felt quite warm inside—definitely much warmer than that dreadful weather outside!
As Xianxian helped me adjust my clothes, she generously praised the man, saying, "I knew Brother Yu is warm-hearted. We won't thank you too much here; how about I treat you to a meal another day?"
As soon as Xianxian heard this, she knew it was just a polite remark. To her surprise, Yu Yu readily agreed, looking at us with a half-smile and raising an eyebrow as she asked, "There's no time like the present; how about tomorrow?"
"Huh? Tomorrow?" Xianxian was momentarily taken aback but then cheerfully said, "Sure, as long as you don't mind, hahaha..."
"The water's here." The woman approached us with a basin of steaming water, clearly annoyed. There was nowhere to put it down, so she stood over us, casting a glance at me before turning to Xianxian and coldly asking, "Do you want me to get you some chairs?"
The woman was holding a basin of hot water, and her words were essentially blaming Xianxian for not getting chairs herself. Xianxian raised an eyebrow and didn't even look at the beauty. Carefully, she continued cutting away the edges of my clothing around the wound without lifting her head, saying, "That would be great. Thank you, beautiful lady."
Seeing the girl's exasperated yet amused expression, I could only look at her helplessly and smile, "Sorry for the trouble."
The beauty took a deep breath and turned to glance at Yu Yu with a hint of grievance. However, Yu Yu merely held a steaming cup of tea and showed no intention of helping. The beauty had no choice but to set the basin down first and then brought over a stool. After placing the basin on it, she sulkily flopped into Yu Yu's arms and pouted, "Yu, didn't you see that person still has a knife stuck in them? Why didn't you ask about their identity before jumping in to help? What if..."
"Don't worry," Yu Yu reassured the beauty in his arms while listening to music and sipping hot tea. He treated us like we were just part of the background entertainment, appearing so relaxed that he seemed almost abnormal.
However, since we felt no immediate danger, we let him continue watching.
In the meantime, I sent Sun Hong to look for Pei Zi and Wang Yi. The likelihood of Xianxian "opening her eyes" was quite small; after all, nothing particularly strange had happened recently. So how could Xianxian suddenly have such abilities? The only possibility was that Sun Hong and the others had absorbed quite a bit of power from The Dead; with that power, it might be possible for them to be seen by those they wanted to be seen by.
Still, I couldn't be sure right now; after all, I couldn't use Yu Yu and that beauty as test subjects. I was still injured here; if I startled someone and something went wrong, it wouldn't be good. So I decided to try with Pei Zi and Wang Yi instead since they were on our side. Even if they got scared, I wouldn't have to take responsibility—hahaha!
If either Pei Zi or Wang Yi could see Sun Hong, it would mean they could see others too.
Previously, they were like invisible people; within Consciousness, they wouldn't think or believe that humans could see ghosts. Thus ordinary people naturally couldn't see them. However, if they could choose who to show themselves to or not... that sounded fantastic! Yes, very powerful! If that were true, our League of Shadows would become even stronger!
Thinking about this made me eager to find out if there had been any changes in the Spirit Department!
"Ow... what are you doing!" Just as I was thinking, a sharper pain suddenly pierced through my chest, as if someone had stabbed me with a knife. I quickly looked down and saw a small hole in my chest, blood oozing out continuously. Xianxian was holding a blood-stained dagger in her hand, looking at me innocently, and said, "Seeing you so lost in thought, I figured there was no need for hypnosis. This way of taking it out is better than watching it come out, right?!"
"Alright, alright, just hurry up and apply the medicine." I said with a mix of amusement and helplessness while enduring the pain.
"Medicine? Where's the medicine?" Xianxian blinked her eyes and asked in confusion.
I suddenly remembered that there were others watching us, so I pretended to be helpless and said, "It's in my bag!" As I spoke, I touched my backpack and discreetly took out the necessary materials. However, since there were people watching, I couldn't be too obvious and only took out a small amount of bandages and such.
Xianxian chuckled twice, then yanked the backpack over, rummaging through it until she found what she needed. While pouring alcohol on the supplies, she said to me, "If it hurts, just shout out. This Lord definitely won't laugh at you."
"You think I would believe you?" I shot her a glance and said skeptically. Knowing her personality, if I really cried out in pain, she would undoubtedly laugh at me until I fell over! No doubt about it; that would definitely be the outcome.
"Cough cough." Xianxian coughed twice with a hurt expression. "Is This Lord really that untrustworthy to you?"
"Enough with the nonsense!" I really wanted to hit her on the head. Did she not know that speaking made the pain in my chest worse?!
Xianxian clicked her tongue and lamented, "You don't recognize good intentions. I'm just trying to help you distract yourself. Seriously... look at you, getting less adorable by the day. I really miss the Fengfeng from when we first met..."
Listening to Xianxian sighing dramatically made me speechless. Adorable? Adorable my foot! I'm a grown man; can 'adorable' even describe me? However, I really didn't want to argue with her right now; I simply rolled my eyes and stared at the ceiling.
Does it hurt?
Of course it hurts! But it's within tolerable limits; after all, this isn't my first injury, so this little pain isn't much to complain about.
"You seem to have quite the background, don't you?" Yu Yu suddenly spoke, his tone filled with mockery and curiosity.
"Of course we do!" Xianxian immediately became smug upon hearing this, though it was hard to tell how much of that smugness was genuine and how much was feigned. "After all, we are a few big shots with some reputation!"
Yu Yu's interest was piqued even more, and he asked curiously, "Oh? What exactly do you all do?"
"Well..." Xianxian smirked while wrapping a bandage around me and said to Yu Yu, "Guess!"
"I guess..." Yu Yu took a sip of tea, his dark eyes looking at us with a half-smile as he slowly replied, "I guess you aren't exactly in the legitimate business!"
"Don't be so blunt about it, heh heh." Xianxian laughed, "As long as we're not bad people, that's what matters. Haha, don't worry, we won't harm you!"
"I'm not really afraid of what you might do to me," Yu Yu said lazily as he leaned back on the sofa. "After all, there are only two of you, and one of you has already been stabbed. So tell me, is there really any reason for us to be afraid of you?"
I couldn't help but twitch my lips; given the current situation, they indeed had no reason to fear us. After all, I was injured and my mobility was limited. Both sides had two people, but clearly, they had the advantage.
Xianxian seemed to twitch his lips as well before saying, "Well, that's not necessarily true. Even though we have an injured member here, if it really comes down to a fight, we might not be at a disadvantage!"
"Is that so?" Yu Yu nodded. It was unclear whether he believed it or not; in any case, I felt that the atmosphere was somewhat strange.
"Martha, you should head back for now. I'll come find you in a few days," Yu Yu said lazily as he stood up and placed a kiss on the forehead of the beautiful woman before uttering something that surprised all three of us.
