Chapter 188: How to Go Back?
"Master Xian, you all came back so soon? Did you find anything?" As soon as he saw us approaching, Wang Yi jumped up eagerly and asked curiously.
Xianxian waved his hand, looking rather rough, and said to Wang Yi, "Quick, go get some food and drink for This Lord!"
"Master Xian, did you really give us everything?" Wang Yi asked with a mix of fear and complexity in his expression, seemingly unwilling to believe it and feeling regretful.
"You think too much; we just accidentally dropped it while climbing the mountain..." Xianxian said something he didn't even believe himself.
After we were well-fed and rested, the four of us took a short nap before preparing to head back.
"Are we really just leaving like this?" Yuguo's injuries had healed quite a bit due to rest, and he was now fully awake. Hearing that we were leaving, he looked somewhat confused and asked us.
"What? Do you want to spend the rest of your life here?" Xianxian shot him a glance and threw the nearly empty backpack at Wang Yi, saying irritably, "Damn it, there’s not even a damn thing here. I don’t know what you all came here for; just wasting This Lord's time!"
"Well, actually we didn’t know it would be like this either!" Pei Zi chuckled awkwardly, feeling a bit guilty in his tone when speaking to Xianxian. Even I thought that if I had no prior knowledge of this place's situation, I might not be able to tell whether what they said was true or false.
Sure enough, Yuguo just stared blankly at us, touched the wound on his head, and after a long pause asked, "Really nothing at all?"
"Go see for yourself; anyway, This Lord is not going. After walking for half a day and seeing nothing, I'm exhausted." Xianxian looked furious.
Yuguo hesitated, seemingly contemplating whether or not to go check it out. However, seeing our tired expressions and unwillingness to go, he muttered a few words before saying, "It's not that I don't believe you; it's just that I have to report back. If the young master asks me later and I can't explain it, that wouldn't be good for me."
"Alright, alright, if you're going to go, hurry up." Xianxian rolled his eyes at Yuguo. "Let me make it clear: we’ll only give you one day. If you don’t come back in one day, we’ll leave without you." Seeing Yuguo's expression wasn't too good, Xianxian added, "Wang Yi, give him a quick supply and two days' worth of food. The rest of us will just have to ration."
"Alright!" Wang Yi agreed and went to distribute the food.
"That's good!" After receiving the food, Yuguo's expression improved significantly.
Thus, Yuguo wandered off alone, and we sat on the ice, chatting for a while and then taking naps. In short, we did whatever was comfortable.
Time passed quickly, and looking at the clock, we figured it was time to set off, but Yuguo still hadn't returned.
We started to feel anxious. Considering Yuguo's identity, which could be seen as both small and significant, we decided to wait a little longer.
"You guys are still here!"
Hearing this, I suddenly became alert and saw Yuguo with a bandage on his head, grinning mischievously.
"Alright, did you find anything?" Xianxian, who had dozed off, woke up lazily and asked him.
Yuguo frowned, looking quite disappointed and helpless as he said, "Just as you said, it's pitch black everywhere; I couldn't find anything. It's really strange..."
"What's strange?" I asked casually, though I felt a bit suspicious. From Yuguo's words, did he know there was something here? Or were they specifically looking for something?
Yuguo paused and quickly replied, "It's nothing; I'm just curious. Logically speaking, such a magical place should have one or two treasures. Why is it just ice everywhere!?"
When someone lies, they often come up with more excuses to cover their guilt. Clearly, Yuguo hadn't fully realized this; he seemed a bit nervous about my question. The more he pretended to have no ulterior motives, the more suspicious he became.
However, no matter how he acted now, it didn't matter to us anymore. We already knew the secrets hidden here, so who cared what he was thinking!?
"How are we going to get back?" Yuguo asked.
"Who knows, but I think we should consider how to get out now, right?" Wuma You said.
When Wuma You mentioned getting out, he meant how to leave the Blood Dragon's body. Although it would take some effort, it was currently the best and simplest method. So I spoke up, "If there are no objections, let's return the way we came." We didn't know what else might be lurking here, so retracing our steps was the safest and most time-efficient option.
"I have no objections," Pei Zi was the first to respond.
"This Lord certainly agrees!" Xianxian also expressed her agreement.
As for Lime, well, of course, he agreed too, heh heh heh...
Since everyone had no objections, Yuguo naturally wouldn't oppose either. Thus, we began to retrace our steps.
However, just a few steps in, I suddenly remembered that there were still a few Ice Men left in the Ice Cave below!
Pei Zi and the others could be disregarded, but if Yuguo found out and revealed it to his forces behind him, it could cause trouble for my dad and the others!
After thinking it over, it seemed I would have to go down first and throw those Ice Men into The Dead!
Yes, I didn't know if it was psychological or due to some special ability, but when the four of us returned to Wang Yi's side, The Dead had returned to normal! It turned out to be a false alarm!
With this thought in mind, I felt much more at ease.
"Hey, Master Xian, where did those Ice Men go!?" Wang Yi and the others asked with puzzled and mysterious expressions.
Xianxian rubbed her forehead and replied, "You should ask yourselves. You're closest to here; didn't you think about coming to take a look?"
"Uh, well..." Wang Yi scratched the back of his head and gave an honest smile. Clearly, no one had come over.
"Ha ha, maybe they automatically returned!" I said lightly, but in my heart, I was thinking about those four people who looked exactly like us. Could it be that they became us because they absorbed our blood? That seems too unscientific.
Well, everything happening right now cannot be explained by science anyway, so if I can't figure it out, I might as well not think about it. Just keep them in mind; after all, we didn't come on this journey for nothing!
Before long, we arrived at the Ice Cave where we had climbed up before. Since the Trench had already been dug, as long as we were careful going down, there shouldn't be any major problems. So one by one, we began to climb down with our bare hands.
The process was arduous and terrifying, but fortunately, the outcome was satisfying.
Thus, although I wasn't the first to go down, I reached the bottom before many others, including Yuguo, and directly collected several ice people into The Dead. Even though I didn't know if these ice people would melt once they left here, my intuition told me that since they were collected, I might as well take them away!
I don't want to say much about the return journey; although it wasn't as thrilling as coming here, it was still safe. By the time we had used up almost all our weapons, we returned to the place where we had just awakened.
Here, it was still a frozen wasteland. The wreckage of ships and submarines, along with human bones, were all encased in ice.
During this time, Wang Yi asked me if I wanted to collect more people into the Spirit Department, but I declined.
Although I have such abilities, as I said before, I am not a god. I will save people, but I do not possess the broad-mindedness of a deity.
Ha ha, in fact, I don't feel that gods are particularly great or that their hearts are particularly wide; whether gods even exist is still an unknown.
When people suffer, has there ever been a god to rescue them from their misery? No! In my view, they merely watch coldly.
