Looking at the four of them standing on either side, their lips curling into faint smiles, I truly didn't know what to say. Perhaps, there was nothing to say at all...
Four hands rested on the Ice Dragon, their wounded palms slowly dripping bright red liquid onto it. Gradually, the color of the Ice Dragon changed; no, it should be said that it absorbed the blood and turned red.
Time passed drop by drop, and the Ice Dragon seemed to greedily absorb the blood from them. I watched as their faces grew paler and paler, until they appeared almost transparent.
Eventually, the four of them gradually returned to their original forms, step by step transforming from "living" beings into ice figures.
We simply gazed silently, the soft green light falling everywhere, feeling gentle yet sorrowful. We watched helplessly as our blood drained away, our bodies became transparent, and then we turned into ice figures... and now, they were slowly evaporating!?
In just a few seconds, the four lively individuals completely vanished! The only change was that the Ice Dragon surrounding the top of the Ice Coffin had turned red; it was the color of blood.
There was no time for us to feel sorrow. After those four disappeared, a slight tremor emanated from around the Ice Coffin, perhaps caused by some mechanism in motion. Before our eyes, this beautiful crystalline Ice Coffin began to shrink at a visible speed—smaller and smaller—until it finally "disappeared."
The scenery inside the Ice Coffin was suddenly revealed before us. I stared in astonishment; it turned out there was really no one inside. Only a delicate and beautiful ice frame remained, shaped like a Y, with a rolled-up beast skin embedded at the top.
Lime wasted no time and directly reached out to grab it. Xianxian and I stood on either side of him, curiously watching as he slowly unrolled the beast skin of an unknown animal. There were no words on it, only chaotic lines that seemed to hide some celestial secrets.
"A treasure map?" Xianxian exclaimed with wide eyes, lunging forward like a hungry wolf ready to snatch the beast skin.
Lime slightly dodged to avoid his grasp and held it up under the light. Although excited and delighted, I refrained from grabbing it for a closer look; instead, I leaned in to see better.
The lines drawn on the beast skin should be a map; however, many routes had changed significantly since then, so I couldn't make much sense of it. Lime was deeply engrossed in examining it, his hands trembling slightly with excitement as if he were holding not a Beast Skin Map but his most beloved child.
"What places are recorded on it?" I asked after staring at it for quite some time without understanding anything. It wasn't my fault; those lines were few and profound, appearing as incomprehensible as astronomy to me. Thus, I had to seek Lime's help.
"One of them should be Huangshan; for the others, we need to compare it with a map," Lime replied. Although uncertainty lingered in his eyes, it was clear he was genuinely excited; even his once stagnant gaze now held a hint of turbulence.
"Is this the location of the Divine Sign?" Xianxian asked excitedly.
Lime shook his head and replied, "Not sure."
After all the effort put into preserving this map, it was clear that it contained a significant secret location! If I was not mistaken, this secret location would definitely hide the Divine Sign! After all, I did not believe that the Demon Clan would go to such lengths just for a trap.
Of course, that possibility could not be ruled out. However, it was evident that the map left by the Demon Clan was prepared for us! If they wanted to kill us, there would be no need to leave a fake map; they could have simply set more traps inside, and we would have had no way to escape. I believed they had that capability! Therefore, the authenticity of this map was apparent!
"Huangshan is so vast; can you be more specific?" Xianxian asked again.
"Nope, find it yourself," Lime said, carefully rolling up the Beast Skin Map and then handed it to me.
I understood Lime's intention. Since we came from the water, it was likely we would have to return through the water as well. To prevent the map from being damaged, the best option was to place it in The Dead. But… looking at the Beast Skin Map in my hand, I hesitated and said, "The Dead doesn't seem useful anymore."
"It will be useful," Lime replied cryptically.
Just as we were about to leave, Xianxian came over with a smile and said, "Let me take a picture for This Lord."
I glanced at him and didn't hand it over but instead asked with a smile, "Can your phone still work?"
"Of course it can! It's a professional waterproof domestic product!" He said as he pulled out his phone. Before he could turn it on, Lime's ominous voice rang out, "No pictures!"
"Why!" Xianxian wailed. "Don't worry; This Lord's phone and data absolutely won't be stolen!"
"Hehe, don't worry; when we get back, I'll let you see plenty!" Although Xianxian said this, he didn't insist on taking a picture; it was just to lighten the mood. Clearly, he succeeded because Lime surprisingly spoke up again. Looking at him with a sly grin like a fox that had stolen something, I could only choose to ignore it…
For the next while, the three of us began our journey back along the original path.
It still felt like flying. After returning to the previous passage, I turned back and took a glance, noticing that the Ice Coffin had once again returned to its original state. The Blood-Red Ice Dragon had also transformed back into transparent ice, tinged with a hint of green from the Green Light. As for the four Ice Men, they did not reappear.
The patterns on the ice wall had long since vanished, leaving no trace on the surface, as if they had never existed at all.
"Is this still the place we passed through before?" Xianxian said lightly while touching the ice wall beside her.
"It doesn't seem like it. If it's not an illusion, then it must be a mechanism," I replied thoughtfully. Since there was no immediate danger to us, I didn't dwell on it too much.
That's how people are; when they feel safe, they don't bother to think about strange dangers. It's only when they feel unsafe that they rack their brains for various solutions and reasons. This is not surprising; it's human nature.
Continuing forward, we unknowingly returned to the original dark area. The three of us only had one flashlight because we didn't know when The Dead would be usable again, so we decided to conserve our resources as much as possible.
On our way, we happened to run into Pei Zi.
"You guys..." Pei Zi revealed a puzzled smile upon seeing us.
"Why did it take you so long to arrive?" Xianxian raised an eyebrow and asked.
Hearing Xianxian's question, Pei Zi couldn't help but raise an eyebrow in confusion and asked, "Did I miss something?"
"You definitely missed some things. Come on, let's walk and talk!" I said to Pei Zi, and the four of us continued moving forward.
What? You ask if we know the way?
Naturally, we didn't know. We just thought that as long as there was a path ahead and we could see Wang Yi and the others up ahead, that would be enough. Although we didn't understand the principle behind it, thinking this way felt right.
"Actually, here's what happened..." Xianxian took on the role of narrator, asking Pei Zi about everything that had happened along the way while explaining all that we had seen and experienced, including the Ice Men and the Ice Coffin incidents.
Pei Zi listened while expressing some of his opinions.
As for Pei Zi himself, he didn't know what he was thinking at that moment, as he walked far outside. He told us that he indeed saw a giant red dragon spiraling in this frozen world, but the dragon felt unreal because it was encased in ice.
Clearly, with both sides speaking, most of the secrets here had already been revealed to us.
Let's summarize first. We don't know whether it was by chance or fate that we arrived in this frozen world, and thousands of years ago, the Demon Clan had accurately predicted our return and had meticulously arranged everything.
Regarding the bloodstains on the Primal Bagua Plate we saw in the cave during our divination, I believe someone had been there before, and I think I already know the true identity of that person.
Yes, father. The few ice people buried underground are the best proof!
However, although they were indeed my father, they appeared much younger than he is now. This means my father and his companions had come to this place a long time ago. Although I don't know why those ice people ended up buried underground instead of in the original cave, there's no doubt that my father and his companions must have failed.
After all, the map is now in our hands!
I just never expected that my father and his companions had actually been here and left safely! It's truly impressive. Looking back now, I really regret not learning even a little from him over these nearly twenty years.
Hehe, reflecting on those past times, I suddenly feel it's not such a regret after all. I will cherish those memories; occasionally reminiscing is good. The present time needs to be utilized well, and as for the future, well, it goes without saying that it will be filled with excitement and danger.
The four of us discussed what had happened here while researching ways to get out and what actions to take afterward.
Time passed quickly, and before we knew it, we reached the place where Wang Yi and the others were. During this time, we hadn't eaten any food or drunk any water, so when we returned to Wang Yi's side, we devoured food and drink like hungry wolves...
