Chapter 184: Man and Dragon
The four of us continued to walk in an unknown direction, relying on our instincts. During this time, I asked Another Me, who told me that The Dead in his hands was also unusable. It was from that moment on that I understood and didn't say anything more, secretly relieved that I wasn't a copy.
"Do you feel anything in the ice?" In the silence, Xianxian suddenly spoke up.
The ice Xianxian referred to was naturally the ice beneath our feet. I had been too busy observing my surroundings to pay attention to what was underfoot, but now, looking down, at first glance, it was still just red ice with nothing unusual about it. Although, the red ice was obviously strange, especially since Pei Zi had previously analyzed that it might be a giant Blood Dragon frozen in ice.
As we walked, I shone my flashlight on the ice blocks beside my feet. For a brief moment, when the light flickered, I thought I saw a pair of pitch-black eyes? Frowning slightly, I dismissed it as my imagination; perhaps it was just my eyes playing tricks on me? I chuckled helplessly and continued walking, but in that instant, it seemed like I saw those eye-like things again.
Finally, after walking for a while, I couldn't help but stop. "It really feels like there's something there!"
As soon as I said this, the atmosphere around us turned chilly. Damn it, could something strange appear again? Thinking this, I glanced down again, and when I did, I froze!
Without any warning, I saw a pair of eyes!
In the ice, right beneath my toes, there appeared a pair of cold eyes staring directly at me. At that moment, I felt a slight shiver run through my body. However, it was just for that instant; I stared down at those eyes while they stared back at me without blinking.
"This can't be an illusion, can it?" I asked.
"Hehe, I never expected your taste to be so heavy!" Xianxian laughed heartily without any restraint. I shot him a helpless glance; even though he said that, could it really be something I imagined? Why did it feel like something was off?
Forget it; I'll pretend to ignore them and keep walking. After all, it's just a layer of ice; being watched is just being watched. It won't cost me anything.
Perhaps it was a psychological effect, but I kept thinking about brightness in my heart. It wasn't until I walked a long way that a faint light gradually appeared around me, the illumination very hazy, reminiscent of the dimness after sunset.
Gradually, the surroundings became clearer. I looked up at the layout around me and realized, to my surprise, that we had actually arrived at a tomb chamber! Why do I call it a tomb chamber? Because the layout around us was quite similar to the ancient tombs we had visited before. The icy surface beneath our feet and the "walls" not far from us were both carved with intricate and exquisite patterns.
"This can't be an illusion, can it?" I asked again.
"Where would there be so many illusions?" Xianxian said lightly while examining the surroundings, continuously tapping or touching with her hands. "Regardless of whether it's real or not, we just need to move forward. Didn't that old man with the white beard say we were chosen ones? If that's the case, he shouldn't be playing tricks on us."
Thinking of that old man with the white beard—oh no, I meant the White-Clad Elder of the Demon Clan—I couldn't help but nod. Based on my feelings and his demeanor and tone, he probably wouldn't deceive us.
Everything about the Demon Clan was shrouded in a layer of mystery to the world. Although we stood just outside this veil, we couldn't discern what lay within. Everything felt so vague; it seemed like we understood yet truly knew nothing.
The murals above were adorned with many auspicious cloud patterns, naturally carved around a dragon—the Azure Dragon!
On the icy surface to my left, the carved patterns were slightly different. For a moment, I felt that these murals might have been intentionally created for us to see! The first painting depicted an enormous Azure Dragon, noble and elegant, soaring through the vast sky surrounded by auspicious clouds, symbolizing how vibrant and unattainable this dragon was.
Next, a figure wearing a Ghost Mask appeared in the painting!
Although this figure was carved into the icy surface, he was about the same size as an ordinary person—well, perhaps just a bit taller than me.
I stopped to examine it closely for a while. Since this person was placed in the second position, he must be someone significant. Looking at him again, although his face was painted with a strange and terrifying Ghost Mask, if one overlooked this mask, my first impression of him was—an ethereal presence!
Yes, this man appeared to be quite young; perhaps he was in his youth or middle age but definitely did not look like an old man. However, as for his true age, I had no idea.
I saw a person with a tall and well-proportioned figure, dressed in flowing garments, resembling an immortal being, looking down upon the world.
On the masked face, only a pair of eyes were visible. I stared at those eyes for a while and suddenly realized that they seemed almost real—sharp and bright, as if they were gazing at us from a great distance, observing our every move.
Strangely, these eyes were indeed carved from ice, devoid of any color. However, when I focused on them, my mind automatically conjured up a pair of piercing black eyes that seemed to see through my soul and everything in the world.
These eyes felt familiar, didn't they?
Just like the first time I saw Lime...
But it was merely familiarity; these eyes were definitely different from Lime's. Through these eyes, I perceived something far more ancient and profound. Although they appeared extremely cold, there was a sense of immense love for humanity within them. They seemed emotionless yet filled with emotion, exuding a divine nobility that made one hesitant to look directly at them while simultaneously feeling approachable. This strange and eerie combination left me mesmerized, pondering who could possess such eyes that encapsulated all the emotions of the world and such a cold yet noble demeanor.
Suddenly, I remembered this person's identity!
He was the leader of the Demon Clan—the Demon God Child!
With this realization, I couldn't help but glance at him again; surely only this man could possess such an extraordinary aura!
The Demon Clan is mysterious, but the most enigmatic of all is its supreme leader, the Demon God Child. It is said that they are the children of demons and gods; I wonder if this refers solely to him or to all members of this clan?
As I continued to look down, I saw that this man remained standing there calmly, but now there was something added to the scene—a dragon! The Azure Dragon!
I had to tilt my head back to see the entire picture clearly. There stood a massive Azure Dragon before the man, proud and untamed, surveying its surroundings with an imposing presence. In that moment, even though it wasn't real, I could feel the sacred power of the dragon!
Looking at the calm demeanor of that man, I suddenly turned around and saw that the wall behind me was also carved with numerous patterns depicting the clan members kneeling in worship.
Just this scene alone was enough to leave me utterly shocked. If I had been in this environment at that moment, perhaps I would have been so astonished that I couldn't even speak. Ha ha, this is the inherent difference between people. I believe that even if I didn't know who this man was, at that moment, I would still feel a sense of admiration for him!
As I looked further down, a massive Blood Dragon appeared, battling against the enormous Azure Dragon. The two dragons were nearly equal in size; although they lacked color, one was fierce and bloodthirsty while the other was proud and aloof. It was easy to tell which was which by comparison. Moreover, there was another distinguishing feature: standing atop the Azure Dragon's head was a man. This man wasn't wearing a Ghost Mask, but at that moment, we could only see his profile. Due to the composition of the scene, his body appeared very small, making it hard to see clearly.
This statement does not imply that the carving was unclear; on the contrary, despite the man's small size, every detail of his features was intricately carved with flowing elegance. It was evident that the sculptor had carved it with immense reverence; no detail had been overlooked.
Furthermore, due to the unique environment here, even though it seemed many years had passed, everything appeared as perfect as if it had just been carved recently.
The next scene depicted how this enormous Blood Dragon was subdued and frozen...
Among them, one particular image once again caught my attention! It showed a circular tomb chamber with a round platform in the center. On that platform lay a beautifully crafted Crystal Coffin! It resembled the Crystal Coffin found in the Ghost Clan Tomb within Sichuan Wawushan; however, even in its carved form, I could immediately distinguish the differences between the two.
The Crystal Coffin before me had a roof with eaves-like edges, and each corner was intricately carved with dragons! Four dragons coiled around each corner, giving an imposing sense of solemnity.
Could it be that lying inside that coffin is the man—the Demon God Child!?
It was merely a guess, yet I felt my heart racing much faster than usual.
In such a short time, I had already placed this man in the highest position of admiration in my heart! It seemed he was even more impressive than Lime! Yes, this man is someone I admire second only to Lime! If we see this coffin later, we must sincerely pay our respects to show our sincerity!
