With a faint sound of "crack," barely audible and fleeting, everything around me became the focus of my attention as my blood inexplicably began to stir. I had a feeling that something extraordinary was about to happen, although I couldn't tell what or when it would start.
"Look!" Xianxian suddenly exclaimed, pointing behind Pei Zi.
We turned our heads in unison and saw that not far behind Pei Zi, a circular block of ice was slowly rising from the originally flat ice surface. As it continued to ascend, I clearly saw features appearing on the ice: eyebrows, eyes, a nose, and a mouth!
At this sight, I was reminded of the ice people I had seen at the bottom of the Ice Cave! Sure enough, as the block of ice rose, it revealed an ice person! However...
"This person looks like Brother Qing," several of us murmured.
"Another one is coming out here!" A somewhat cold female voice interrupted. Turning around, we saw Cold Snow looking at Xianxian's back. Xianxian quickly turned around, and we all followed suit to see another ice person slowly rising from the previously smooth ice surface, which showed no signs of being cut. However, this ice person's appearance...
"Hey, is that me?" Xianxian asked cheerfully.
I took a closer look; those features and that slightly smiling mouth really did resemble Xianxian!
Soon after, two more ice people appeared behind Wang Yi and me. The one behind me indeed looked very much like me, while the one behind Wang Yi resembled Pei Zi!
The four ice people were strikingly similar to us in appearance, height, body shape, and even clothing, which made it easy for us to recognize them at first glance.
After a while, no more ice people emerged.
"Southeast and Northwest each have one, huh, that's really interesting!" Xianxian said excitedly, showing no signs of worry, but rather full of enthusiasm.
"With so many of us, why are only four coming out? What does this even mean? I just don't understand," Black Bear said, scratching his head, which was already a mess like a chicken coop.
"The first to come out was Brother Lime, the second was Brother Xian, the third was Brother Fengzi, and the fourth was the Pei Brothers. Does that mean only the leader can summon similar ice figures?" Wang Yi pondered, his eyes reflecting a cool and gentle light.
"The leader?" Big Dragon looked at us and laughed in surprise, "I was curious about who among you is the leader, and now I realize it's actually all three!"
Wang Yi snorted and proudly said, "With the three giants in charge, all sorts of monsters and demons have been scared away!"
I smiled helplessly as I heard Xianxian question, "By the way, what exactly is the purpose of these ice figures? Are they meant to commemorate our visit here?"
"It's indeed strange. If they appeared somewhere else, I might be more puzzled. However, given the context here, I have a guess, though I'm not sure if it's true," Pei Zi squinted his eyes, clearly indicating he didn't fully understand either.
"What guess?" Wuma You quickly asked.
"This..." Pei Zi frowned, "It's hard to say for now; I'm just speculating!"
"That's fine, boss; go ahead and share!" Wuma You urged eagerly, while Black Bear and Big Dragon also pressed Pei Zi to reveal his thoughts. With no choice left, Pei Zi finally spoke up: "I suspect they already calculated that we would come!"
He didn't specify who "they" were. Although we didn't know exactly who it was, it felt like we had an idea. What Pei Zi speculated was exactly what I had just been thinking since the moment I saw the ice figures appear.
I didn't believe it was a prank or some mirror duplication. Since there was a Bagua divination set up here, if it were "those people," predicting our arrival shouldn't be too difficult!
"Although I don't know why, This Lord thinks so too!" Xianxian said.
I nodded and responded with a sound of agreement.
Even though everyone knew that Lime rarely spoke, we still turned to look at him as he calmly said, "Let's stand in the corresponding positions and take a look."
"The corresponding positions?" Xianxian raised an eyebrow, as if suddenly realizing something, and exclaimed with surprise, "Could it be…"
Without saying much more, the four of us immediately stood in front of the Ice Man, facing the Primal Bagua Plate. The people around us automatically dispersed to other areas, quietly watching us.
At that moment, I could almost hear my own rhythmic heartbeat. I didn't know when it happened, but I had fallen in love with this feeling. Every adventure was fraught with danger, yet being in close proximity to these bizarre phenomena that even science couldn't explain filled me with a sense of pride or excitement—either way, I loved this kind of exploration!
On the other side, I heard Guo Fan excitedly say to He Cheng, "Boss, have you ever seen anything so bizarre before? It's freaking amazing, like watching a sci-fi movie!"
"What sci-fi movie? This is clearly a horror film!" Sun Cheng corrected him.
"This is something we discovered, you know!" one person proudly stated.
"Then you didn't mention that there were Ice Men who looked remarkably similar to the boss and the others before!" another person chimed in.
That person clearly choked for a moment and stammered, "Well, that's because we were in a hurry to come back and tell you all, so we didn't take a closer look!"
"Bah! I think you just couldn't see what was inside the ice at all!"
"Stop talking, just let it be!"
"Shh, everyone be quiet and watch!" After this person spoke, the others from the Spirit Department reluctantly fell silent. I had wanted to tell them to be quiet for a while now, but there were too many people here. If I accidentally let something slip, it might not end well, after all, I couldn't fully trust these people yet.
Even those I trusted, I couldn't tell everything to.
Take Wang Yi for example; can you say I don't trust him? No, after spending so many days together, I naturally trust Wang Yi by now. The reason I don't tell The Dead much is simple: the more you know, the quicker you die. To put it bluntly, if someone were to catch me off guard and use some underhanded means to extract information from me, the consequences would be unimaginable...
Returning to our side, we had been standing in front of the Ice Man for quite a while.
"Lime, do you have any confidence at all?" The one who dared to speak to Lime like this was definitely Xianxian.
However, Lime seemed completely unconcerned with others' tones and simply replied lightly, "No."
As soon as those two words came out, not only Xianxian but even I was momentarily taken aback. It was Pei Zi who, after a brief pause, chuckled and said, "Well, since there are no clues anyway, trying it out won't hurt, right?"
"Alright then, this Lord will wait a little longer," Xianxian said with a helpless expression. But I could see that he hadn't relaxed at all; his fox-like eyes were still keenly observing the Primal Bagua Plate and the surroundings. This was clearly a case of saying one thing while meaning another, haha.
We didn't have to wait long; less than ten seconds after Xianxian finished speaking, suddenly the stone block engraved with Bagua began to rotate. Then, a piece of red ice protruded from the top of the stone block with something written on it in small font. However, since I was standing a bit far away, I couldn't see what was written.
After waiting for a long time without any further movement from the stone plate or its surroundings, we gathered around the ice block again.
"What does it say on top?" Yuguo asked in confusion. "What kind of font is this? It seems unreadable?"
"Brother Pei, can you solve this?" I asked Pei Zi, even though I couldn't understand this Font either. However, I was ninety-eight percent sure that this was the Font of the Demon Clan!
Jiang Feng said that Pei Zi was from the Azure Dragon Organization. Although the Azure Dragon Organization did not necessarily have any connection to the Demon Clan, I thought that given their status and strength, they might be able to decipher the Demon Clan's script.
Pei Zi did not shake his head; instead, he looked at Cold Snow and asked, "Xue Er, can you decipher it?"
Cold Snow slightly furrowed her beautiful brows and nodded, saying, "I need a little time."
"You can solve it?" Wang Yi looked at Cold Snow in disbelief and asked.
Cold Snow merely nodded without saying much. Instead, she leaned forward, looking serious and meticulous. Seeing her like this, we didn't want to disturb her; we left Big Dragon, Black Bear, and Wang Yi to keep her company while we retreated to sit against the wall to rest.
"I never expected that someone in Brother Pei's team would be able to understand this language!" Xianxian said admiringly.
Almost as soon as she finished speaking, Yuguo asked, "Isn't that Oracle Bone Script? I didn't expect such deep knowledge from a young girl; indeed, my previous perspective was too narrow!"
Pei Zi smiled and did not explain anything to Yuguo. Instead, he said with a smile, "Xue Er is very smart and enjoys studying ancient scripts."
"I see." I nodded in understanding. Pei Zi's words were intentionally directed at Yuguo because I knew that he must have understood the implication of Xianxian's earlier statement. We were not ordinary Tomb Raiders; we were searching for the relics of the Demon Clan. Therefore, the clues we sought were also centered around the Demon Clan. While we might not "recognize" the Demon Clan's script, at least we were "familiar" with its appearance.
"Making it all so mysterious means what you decipher will definitely be a big secret! Hahaha, This Lord can't wait!"
