Although we were just going to check the situation, there were quite a few people going down, including me, Xianxian, Wang Yi, Pei Zi, Cold Snow, Wuma You, Black Bear, Big Dragon, and Yuguo—nine of us in total.
The submarine wasn't very large; with two drivers and the nine of us, it was more than enough space, even leaving some extra room. The equipment inside the submarine was quite complete; besides the sofas and stools, there was even a large refrigerator filled with food and water.
This submarine had a large glass dome at the front, which appeared to be made of high-density bulletproof glass or similar material. It not only provided a wide field of vision but also had much stronger impact resistance than ordinary glass. So, at first glance, it did seem quite safe and reassuring.
We felt the submarine shake slightly, and then we heard the command to dive. The submarine was already in the water; it was just that the top was connected to the cabin below. Once that connection was removed, we immediately began to sink.
"By the way, I've never been in a submarine before; it really looks high-end and classy!" Wuma You leaned back on the sofa like a lord, his eyes sparkling with excitement.
Black Bear happily sat next to Wuma You, his bright little eyes darting around as he grinned mischievously: "Having high technology is indeed convenient; we won't have to worry about diving anymore!"
"Alright, stop showing off!" I said somewhat helplessly as I watched Xianxian fussing over her reflection in a mirror.
Xianxian had somehow found a small mirror and was sighing as she looked at herself: "Why does it feel like wearing this wetsuit has completely ruined my noble and elegant demeanor?"
Since winter was approaching, we were all wearing thicker thermal clothing under our wetsuits. The black wetsuits made us look bulky and... rather plain! For someone like Xianxian, who usually dressed in trendy and fashionable clothes, being wrapped up like a dumpling did indeed look somewhat ridiculous.
"Hey, are you laughing at me?" Xianxian shot me a cold glance with a hint of threat in her voice.
I quickly shook my head and laughed: "Why would I laugh at you? It's not ugly; besides, aren't we all wearing the same thing?"
"Really not ugly?" Xianxian looked at me skeptically.
"Yeah, not ugly!" I nodded vigorously and said: "You actually look quite professional."
"I'll trust you this time."
Just as Xianxian finally stopped looking in the mirror, a voice suddenly chimed in from one side: "Neither male nor female!"
"That's good then."
The voice was not loud, but it was clear that there was no soundproofing here, so almost everyone could hear it. Xianxian, as expected, got angry and slammed the mirror down at the feet of the person who spoke, coldly asking, "Who the hell are you talking about as not man or woman?"
"I didn't name anyone specifically, why are you so worked up?" Yuguo replied sarcastically.
"You fat bastard, I think you really need a beating!" Wang Yi angrily walked over, just about to roll up his sleeves when he realized he was wearing a wetsuit, so he put his hands on his hips, looking quite like a shrew scolding in the street. "Master Xian, don't take action. I'll help you teach him a lesson."
Yuguo clearly wasn't intimidated either; he stood up and said fiercely, "Come on then, I'm afraid of you!"
Before he finished speaking, the vessel suddenly shook violently, and we swayed along with it. No one thought about fighting anymore; everyone turned to look ahead, but apart from water, there was nothing to be seen.
"Why is it white?" Wuma You stood at the front of the vessel looking at something, puzzled.
"Huh?" Yuguo and a few others also walked over, expressing their confusion.
It turned out there was a display screen over there, divided into four small sections that appeared to be video feeds. The several exploration lights around the submarine should have been turned on by now, so the cameras installed outside should be functioning normally; however...
Originally limited by visibility to only see what was directly in front of us, we finally had a probe but found that the video was completely white and blurry!
"Hey, hey, is the camera broken?" Black Bear asked nervously.
"Impossible! Not to mention that all the equipment is new; we thoroughly checked everything before going underwater. It definitely isn't a camera issue!" a staff member said firmly.
Big Dragon also looked confused. "So what's going on now? We can't see anything?"
Indeed, since the camera was intact and it was clearly still night outside, why was the image completely white?
"Preliminary assessment indicates that something white must be covering the camera," Xianxian said calmly.
Wuma You and Black Bear swallowed hard and hesitantly asked, "W-what kind of thing?"
Xianxian smiled slightly, seemingly unconcerned, and said, "We can just go out and see."
"Hey, why do I feel like that white thing in the image is moving?" I stared at the white screen, stroking my chin in thought.
"I'll take a look!" Xianxian had just walked over when suddenly, "Oh, **!!"
The boat shook violently again, followed by countless crashing sounds. The entire submarine trembled as if countless hands were slapping, banging, or even scratching from the outside. It sounded terrifying!
After a while, the horrifying noise faded away, but I suddenly noticed that the white image in the camera lens had disappeared! I squinted and stared without blinking; that shadow looked like a human-shaped silhouette!
In just about five or six seconds, the human-shaped shadow suddenly vanished. Note that it didn't drift away or sink; it simply disappeared into thin air! It was as if a droplet of water had suddenly encountered intense flames and evaporated instantly!
"What the hell is going on?" Xianxian exclaimed angrily.
Pei Zi also looked tense. "Should we go out and check?"
"No way!" Yuguo immediately opposed. "It's too early to go out now. Not to mention we still don't know what's outside; we've only descended about twenty or thirty meters."
Everyone fell silent, allowing the submarine to continue its descent. No one spoke; I could almost feel everyone's nerves were taut. One or two people were fixated on the camera or the scenery ahead, creating a heavy atmosphere as if a great battle was imminent.
We continued to sink deeper... We were now in the terrifying "The Devil's Triangle" rumored in the outside world, with many mysteries of sunken ships close at hand. We didn't know what was outside or what we would encounter; we could only wait for an unexpected incident to occur.
The waiting was agonizing. Sure enough, suddenly a powerful force struck again, causing the submarine to uncontrollably plunge downward. The entire vessel shook violently and even spun 360 degrees repeatedly!
It felt like the sky was spinning and the earth was turning as things kept crashing down on me.
I believed that if this were not a high-density submarine but a ship or people instead, they would either drown or be knocked unconscious; in severe cases, there would be nothing left of them! Just by hearing the submarine creaking under pressure, one could tell how strong this suction force was!
Everyone and everything inside the submarine lost their balance; we swayed left and right, crashing into things and falling over. Even before we began our underwater operations, we already had minor injuries.
This shaking lasted for nearly three minutes without exception; almost everyone, including me, was thrown around by the source of the tremors. Especially Wuma You, who looked the worst off; I glanced over and saw he was bruised and battered from being hit by various objects.
"Damn it, what is going on? Shaking and rolling everywhere!" Wang Yi stood up and started cursing.
"Is this the legendary immense suction?" Pei Zi shook his head and said with some understanding.
Shaking his head cleared his vision a bit, revealing that all the furniture and items inside the submarine were scattered on the floor, and everyone was in disarray, looking quite miserable!
"Yugo, it's bad." A staff member crawled out from the front cabin, looking distressed. "The searchlight has taken on water and is damaged, and the camera has completely disappeared. We're cut off from the outside situation!"
Yugo frowned and decisively told the staff member, who was also the driver, "Immediately turn on the backup searchlight power. Everyone prepare to wear the surface masks and oxygen tanks; we need to go out and take a look!"
"Tch, what's with the attitude?" Wang Yi shot Yugo an unhappy glance but still obediently went to grab the diving gear.
Although everyone was reluctant to take orders from Yugo, he was technically in charge while they were merely guests, hired for this job, so they all began to act. The surface masks here were similar to astronaut helmets; inside, they could speak freely and had a very wide field of vision.
"What the hell, what is that thing?!" Wang Yi suddenly shouted again, instantly drawing everyone's attention.
The backup power had already been turned on outside. After getting properly equipped, I looked ahead. When I finally saw the scene beyond the high-density bulletproof glass, nearly everyone present was taken aback. There were countless bones scattered and piled up on top of the murky water!
Some white bones were stuck in the mud, motionless, with fine particles scattered on top of them. Others floated in the dirty water, swirling downwards—thickly packed with bones of various sizes!
"This is a site where ships often sink, right? Why don't we see any shipwrecks but instead a huge pile of bones that we can't tell if they're human or something else?!" Cold Snow asked for the first time. Although her delicate face showed no fear, it was filled with deep confusion. The others nodded in agreement, expressing their bewilderment!
I also never expected that what I would first see wasn't a shipwreck or various fish but bones! Creepy and terrifying white bones!
