Chapter 152: Encountering a Ghost in the Subway
"There are too many people here; I don't think you want to cause trouble," another man said, pointing at me and angrily adding, "We have to take this person away. If you're just passing by, we hope you won't interfere."
"Ridiculous," I scoffed, disdainfully replying, "Do you really think you can take me away?"
"I'm curious," Divine Hand suddenly spoke up, crossing his arms. "What do you want from him?"
"You know exactly what we want!" The man looked at Divine Hand and sneered.
Divine Hand seemed oblivious to the wariness and hatred in the eyes of the group. With a half-smile, he said, "How would I know what you want?" He was looking at me when he said this, and even though I couldn't see his eyes, I felt an overwhelming sense of being targeted like prey.
The man was furious, but as he noticed more and more passersby gathering around, his expression grew darker. He subtly signaled to a few others with his eyes. Soon, six people closed in on me. Although they were clearly uncomfortable with Divine Hand's presence, what annoyed me even more were these persistent individuals who were like flies buzzing around!
"Hmph, looks like this isn't going to be easy," Divine Hand chuckled coldly, clearly not taking the group seriously. He continued casually, "As the saying goes, those who see it share in it; I won't hold back." With that, Divine Hand walked toward me.
I watched the approaching group warily, gripping the hilt of my knife tightly. After much hesitation, I ultimately decided not to draw it. Although it wasn't peak commuting hours yet, there were still quite a few people around.
Perhaps because the men nearby all had unfriendly expressions, no passersby dared to come near us; they all seemed to be avoiding us like a plague, watching from a distance. Still, if panic ensued, it would be disastrous. Moreover, there were surveillance cameras here; if the authorities caught wind of this, no amount of excuses would suffice.
"Don't go too far!" The man shouted angrily at Divine Hand.
Divine Hand twisted his wrist and flexed his fingers as if completely unconcerned while stepping closer to me.
A rumbling sound grew louder as a train approached. I couldn't help but frown deeply at the sight of the speeding train ahead. Just as the doors opened, Divine Hand suddenly lunged at me with incredible speed. I instinctively reached out to defend myself but was unexpectedly shoved hard from behind. I stumbled and was pushed into the train car. Then a figure blocked the door as I heard Divine Hand's voice say, "Keep that safe; don't let anyone take it before I find you!"
"Don't worry, no one can take it away!" I smirked. Even though I had caught the attention of another strong individual, wasn't it safe to leave now? Once I returned, what could Divine Hand do? He couldn't easily capture me!
...
The seats were all filled, and I leaned against a pillar, feeling utterly bored. After running for so long, it was impossible not to feel exhausted. With a light sigh, I sensed a gaze fixed on me. I looked up to see a robust man in his thirties, dressed in a sharp suit, staring at me intently.
I looked back at him in confusion, wondering if he was someone I knew. But after thinking for a while, I still couldn't recall who he was. The man continued to stare at me—one minute... two minutes... Finally, I got angry and lowered my voice, suppressing the urge to explode. "What are you looking at?" Damn it, I'm not a woman; what are you staring at?
A flicker of surprise crossed the man's eyes, followed by joy as he walked toward me, pointing at himself in disbelief and asking, "Can you see me?"
"Of course, I'm not blind..." Just as I finished speaking, I suddenly noticed that many people in the carriage were looking at me with strange expressions, as if... as if they were looking at a lunatic. I felt extremely awkward and couldn't help but twitch my lips. When I looked back at the man in front of me, he had regained his composure. Taking a deep breath, I realized I needed to stay calm; after all, it seemed like people couldn't even distinguish between him and Ghost Town!
Right! The man who was staring at me was a ghost!
"Can you really see me?" The man had thick black hair, bushy eyebrows, and phoenix-like eyes. He was neither tall nor short but rather robust. At this moment, he looked excitedly at me.
I nodded randomly without speaking.
What a joke! With so many people inside looking at me like I was crazy or just enjoying the show, even if my skin were thick—oh no, actually my skin isn't thick at all—I should still keep a low profile!
But the man seemed energized as if he had been injected with enthusiasm. "Hello! My name is Jiang Feng. May I know your name, Brother?"
I didn't even lift my head to respond; instead, I shifted my body slightly to avoid facing him directly. Surely he would understand that I didn't want to chat any longer?
I didn't know whether to admire this man's thick skin or say he was oblivious. He walked right up to me and deliberately lowered his voice. "You don't need to be afraid; I won't harm you!" He added emphatically, "Really!"
I gave him a silent glare and was about to speak when the car stopped and the door opened. I glanced at him and got out of the car.
Sure enough, the ghost followed me out and not only that, but he also followed me all the way. I said nothing and let him walk alongside me until we exited the station. Breathing in the biting cold wind calmed my emotions quite a bit, and I finally stopped, looking at the man named Jiang Feng, saying, "My name is Feng Zi. It's not convenient to talk much in the car, please forgive me."
The man quickly waved his hand, looking puzzled. "I was just a bit too excited. I've been at the station for a long time, but I don't understand why only Brother Feng can see me?"
"It's simple, because I am Ghost Ring," I replied straightforwardly. Although my intuition told me this ghost was not ordinary, I could sense he meant no harm.
"Ghost Ring!?" Jiang Feng's eyes widened in surprise, then he seemed to understand as he muttered to himself, "No wonder I felt you weren't afraid."
Heh heh... I chuckled softly as we walked and said, "If I were timid, I would have gone crazy long ago." After laughing, I added, "By the way, if there's nothing else, I need to go."
"Ah, are you leaving so soon?" The man's expression turned urgent. I looked at him and saw his conflicted face as he hesitated to speak. I couldn't help but laugh and said, "Just say what's on your mind."
I don't know who said that with great power comes great responsibility. Having gained so much power, one should give back to society in some way. Although not everyone can be helped, at least within my capabilities, I'll do what I can; after all, it won't cost me much.
"I want to see my wife and son one last time!" The man gritted his teeth and looked at me with determination.
If you want to see them, just go back and look? As I looked at him and was about to ask that question, it turned into another: "What do you want me to do?"
Jiang Feng lowered his gaze, looking guilty and regretful. "After my accident, they moved away. I don't know where they went..."
I sighed and said, "I'll help you find them."
"Thank you! Thank you!" Jiang Feng exclaimed joyfully, his eyes suddenly filled with light as he firmly stated, "If you need anything from me, little benefactor Feng, I will definitely respond without delay!"
"Really?" I raised an eyebrow and asked. To be honest, although I initially thought this man was quite carefree, after a few exchanges, I realized that this person named Jiang Feng was definitely not as simple as he appeared.
"More genuine than pearls!" Jiang Feng replied with a smile.
Seeing the sincerity in his eyes, I smiled back. "What I'm doing is not ordinary, so I won't force you. I'm helping you not to make you do things for me."
Jiang Feng nodded. "I understand, but I really enjoy challenging difficult tasks; otherwise, I wouldn't... heh." He shook his head as he spoke.
I didn't say much more and directly hailed a cab to take Jiang Feng to the hotel we had left before.
Halfway there, Wang Yi called again. "Brother Feng, where are you?"
"On the way."
"We've already bought the house; just come over, and I'll send you the address!"
"Okay."
Less than a minute after hanging up, a text message came through with a detailed address. I instructed the driver to take us to Golden Town.
As soon as we got out of the car, four or five people approached us, including Wang Yi and Fu Song.
"Are you feeling better?" I frowned and asked.
Fu Song nodded and replied calmly, "Almost."
"En." I had just nodded when I heard Wang Yi angrily say, "Brother Feng, we have already investigated the background of that group!"
"Alright, we'll talk about it later." My tone turned cold. Did they really think they could scheme and bully us as if we were pushovers?
At that moment, a low chuckle came from the side. I turned my head to see Jiang Feng with an unknown glint in his eyes, smiling as he said, "Feng Xiao Ge seems to have quite the background!"
I smiled lightly and did not respond.
Following Wang Yi, we arrived at a tastefully decorated shop. He proudly said, "Brother Feng, this is just one of our places. It's very quiet here, and we can sell some things too. Hehe, tomorrow I'll take you to see other locations."
Golden Town was lined with antique shops, and the one Wang Yi had acquired was naturally an antique store as well. It wasn't bustling but also not too secluded; it was just right for us. The decorations inside were clearly new, and the overall feel was quite nice. The shop was on the ground floor, and there were living quarters upstairs.
"Master Xian and the others are waiting for you upstairs," Wang Yi said cheerfully, probably having been praised by Xianxian. I shook my head helplessly and smiled before heading upstairs.
"Oh right." Stopping in my tracks, I turned to Wang Yi and said, "Get a few brothers to help me investigate a woman named Liu Xinying. No matter what methods you use, I want to know where she and her son have moved by tomorrow night."
"Sure thing! You two go take care of it now!" Wang Yi pointed to the two people behind him.
Jiang Feng nodded gratefully at me.
I smiled lightly; what I had asked Wang Yi to investigate was naturally Jiang Song's wife and child.
Upon reaching the upstairs area, I saw Xianxian cuddling with Snow Princess on the sofa watching a movie, while several others were also seated in the room. As soon as she heard the noise, Xianxian turned to look at me and teased, "You’re back so late; I thought you had sacrificed yourself for a noble cause!"
