I exchanged a glance with Xianxian, and we both understood each other's intentions. Almost simultaneously, we drew our guns and aimed at the head of the suspected Mountain Ghost. The Mountain Ghost let out a thunderous roar that echoed like thunder!
Bang bang bang...
The gunfire rained down mercilessly on the suspected Mountain Ghost's head, bullets ricocheting off. Although the Mountain Ghost staggered back from the hits, it showed no signs of injury! Li Hui fell from the sky once again.
"Lime, Fu Song, are you alright?" I called out as I ran forward.
Lime was severely injured, looking like a bloodied mess, covered in blood with torn clothes and deep wounds all over. Without hesitation, I picked up Lime and ran back, telling everyone, "Saving people is the priority; let's retreat when we get the chance!"
"You go first, Tomb Hole regroup!" Xianxian said without hesitation while firing.
"Take care! Fu Song, let's go." I rushed towards Li Hui, who seemed to be in relatively better condition, carrying Lime on my back.
Behind us, bullets rained down like a storm while everything ahead was decaying. Despite this, Li Hui and I quickly reached the place where we had separated earlier. There was a half-meter-high cave in the rock wall beside us. I climbed inside without stopping, but as soon as I entered, the space suddenly expanded! Although the surroundings weren't very even, it was impressive to have dug such a long tunnel in such a short time! Having capable subordinates is truly beneficial; if I had done it myself, I wouldn't know how long it would take!
Sitting on the ground, there was just enough space above my head to move around.
After Lime crawled in, he lay against the rock wall, and Li Hui followed closely behind.
"How are you?" Looking at Lime's disheveled state made me frown. Even Lime was injured; it seemed that thing was indeed difficult to deal with. I wondered if Xianxian and the others could handle it.
Not wanting to think too much, I placed my backpack on the ground. Although it only contained a few simple tools, there were 'outsiders' here; even in a hurry, I had to maintain appearances. I took out some bandages and alcohol from inside as emergency supplies.
"I won't die," Lime said without furrowing his brow as if his injuries were nothing.
I was speechless for a moment but still called Fu Song over to help him with his wounds.
I picked up Lime's backpack and unzipped it while saying, "Good thing I told you to bring extra clothes." As I spoke, I pulled out a jacket and pants from inside and set them aside. Then I walked to the cave entrance and said, "Fu Song, don't let him run off again; I'll be right back!"
"Where are you going?" Fu Song's voice came from behind me. I didn't answer; instead, I dashed out of Tomb Hole towards the sound of gunfire.
Before getting close, I heard another thunderous roar followed by continuous gunfire. After so long, I wondered if they had run out of bullets! While thinking this, I took out several boxes of ammunition.
Sure enough, by the time I ran over there, Xianxian and the others were retreating while firing their guns. The Mountain Ghost was being pushed back repeatedly, yet it seemed to grow fiercer with each step! As they retreated, Xianxian and the others were cursing.
“Xianxian, Snow Princess!” I called out, tossing the three boxes in my hands over to them, trusting they would distribute them freely. At the same time, I drew a longsword. Unlike Lime's ancient sword, this one was somewhat ornate, both light and sharp, but I usually kept it sheathed—except for dealing with such a massive creature.
Clearly, guns were ineffective against the tough-skinned Mountain Ghost. As I charged in, I sidestepped to avoid its attack. With a swing of my arm, the longsword left a blur in the air as it struck a hard surface. I put all my strength into that blow, and after the impact, I moved aside. However, the Mountain Ghost suddenly kicked out its leg; I felt a sharp pain in my abdomen. Fortunately, knowing how difficult this Mountain Ghost was to handle, I had kept my wits about me and narrowly avoided a worse fate.
Finally steadying myself, I looked at the Mountain Ghost and saw it! There was a sword mark on its thigh!
Before I could feel happy about it, an eerie scene unfolded! The wound on the Mountain Ghost's leg was gradually disappearing! It could heal itself?!
No wonder!
No wonder Lime had fought it for so long and sustained such severe injuries; how could the Mountain Ghost remain unscathed?
“Fengfeng, be careful!”
Just as I was astonished, a roar echoed through the air, followed by a strong gust of wind that hit me—cold! Foul-smelling! Filled with rage!
The Mountain Ghost had gone berserk! It was furious because I had just wounded it!
Almost reflexively, I hurried to dodge aside but was still a moment too late; the Mountain Ghost was too fast to block! I felt my internal organs shake as darkness clouded my vision before crashing heavily into something hard, feeling as if my bones might break.
My head buzzed as I lay on the ground for a while until light finally appeared before me. As I lifted my head, I saw a gigantic foot descending from above. In my peripheral vision, Xianxian was shouting and rushing toward me.
I widened my eyes; there was no time to evade—I could only watch as that foot came closer and closer… Once again, I tasted despair and fear! How intense it was at that moment!
Suddenly, a loud explosion rang out.
At that instant, just as the enormous black foot was less than an inch from my head, it paused. In battle, every second could mean life or death. So in that fleeting moment, I mustered all my strength to roll aside, covering my head as I tumbled several times while smelling the foul odor surrounding me!
Where I had been standing moments before now lay a massive black foot! The foot lifted away, leaving behind a deep Black Pit!
That was close!
What luck!
If that foot hadn't paused for a moment... I can't imagine the consequences!
"Are you okay?" Xianxian shouted from the side.
"I'm fine!" I replied as I got up from the ground. I had been too careless! No, in fact, I had seen its movements clearly; it was just that my speed couldn't keep up! My stamina wasn't as good as I had imagined. Carrying a little girl up the mountain was no problem, but once faced with this powerful monster, we would only end up being tormented!
"Wang Yi, take them and go first," Xianxian's voice commanded.
"No, Master Xian?!..."
"Snow Princess, take them and run!" Before Wang Yi and the others could respond, Xianxian ran toward me, while Snow Princess and the others, though worried, obediently ran away.
I warily watched the increasingly frenzied Mountain Ghost beside me, its eyes turning even redder as I backed away. "What should we do?"
Xianxian smirked sarcastically. "Don't forget, we still have our trump card. Here, it's something Wang Yi made." With that, she tossed me two objects.
Thunderclap!?
The moment I caught them, I recognized what they were. I heard Xianxian muttering in frustration beside me, "I didn't bring many this time. Hmph, let's show this Black Tortoise our power!"
"Alright!" I coldly stared at the approaching Mountain Ghost, thinking that if bullets couldn't pierce you and swords wouldn't work either, then let’s see how you handle a few Thunderclaps. Even if your recovery is strong, after taking a few hits, let's see if you can get back up instantly!
