"Are you sure?" Xianxian's eyes suddenly brightened, as if she had seen a long-desired treasure.
"Of course." I smirked. Although I started later than you and haven't practiced as long, can two souls of mine really be outmatched by just one of yours? To be conservative, even if I can't beat you, don't think you'll gain much advantage over me!
Xianxian's eyes sparkled even more. She slapped her thigh and stood up, laughing, "Alright, let's go!"
"Fairy, Little Phoenix, the soil here is damp; let's practice again when we get back?" Snow Princess said helplessly.
"Damp is fine; it doesn't matter," I replied with a smile.
"Yes," Xianxian nodded in agreement.
Snow Princess sighed dramatically, pretending to be powerless. "Since you both want to get all stinky, I won't advise against it. As long as you don't mind the smell." After saying that, a sly smile flashed in her eyes.
Uh... Xianxian and I exchanged glances. Maybe we should skip it! I certainly don't want to end up smelling bad for life; it would ruin my warm-hearted image!
"How boring; let's fight again later!" Xianxian sat down again, looking a bit dejected.
"That’s a must."
I casually pulled out a worn piece of clothing from my bag and laid it on the ground before sitting cross-legged. There might still be a fierce battle ahead, so it's best to conserve my strength and energy.
The moment I closed my eyes, I suddenly saw the Ghost Woman, also known as Little Black. Well, the name has evolved. Little Black was rolling around in The Dead, having a great time. Should I find a time to scare Xianxian? It would be best if it were while she's asleep—imagine Little Black crawling up to her ear and screaming! Just thinking about it makes me feel exhilarated!
"Fengfeng, what mischievous thoughts are you brewing again?"
Hearing Xianxian's voice, I replied with my eyes closed, "How do you know I'm thinking?"
"Do you know that your smile is... quite annoying!"
I lazily opened my eyes and glanced at him before closing them again.
For some reason, I suddenly remembered the dream I had before! That crazy guy, oh no, the one who calls himself 'Zi', said that it was the only dream he ever had. I only vaguely remembered the scenes in the dream; I didn't know if it was real or not, but the breathtaking images were still fresh in my mind—stars, explosions, another soul... I needed to figure everything out!
Looking back into the black mist, Little Black had already climbed to Hell's Gate, which remained shrouded in fog, appearing and disappearing, stretching endlessly. I didn't know when it would open.
I paid my respects to Zhou Juechen, the Young Master of the World and king of Tomb Raiding, and after observing for a moment, I approached Little Black, sitting cross-legged in mid-air, and called out to Little Black.
Little Black was having a great time, and the intermittent sobbing sounds had been drowned out by other noises here. You ask about those other sounds? Sorry, I blocked all those chaotic noises out; at this moment, I wasn't in the mood to listen to those ghostly wails.
"Master~" Little Black flipped over and looked at me with its two pitch-black eyes that were almost indistinguishable.
"Yes." I responded and asked without much hope, "Can you sense any of your kind or ancient tombs nearby?"
Little Black tilted its head and suddenly jumped onto my hand, asking in a crisp childlike voice, "Kind? Ancient tomb? What are those?"
Alright, I was wrong; I shouldn't have asked you!
I rubbed my forehead and reminded myself not to take it seriously; it was just an ancient bug with a thousand-year lifespan whose intelligence was stuck at a toddler's level!
"Do you want to go out and play?" I asked.
"Play?" Little Black moved and asked in confusion, "Why go out to play? It's nice here!"
Hold it together! I took a deep breath and smiled, "Let me see if this greedy little pig of yours has any other uses!" After saying that, regardless of its reaction, I focused my thoughts and brought it out of The Dead.
As soon as Little Black came out, it let out a ghostly scream! The sound was indeed like a ghost's wail—sharp and piercing, with a hint of deep darkness. It scared the three people who were digging immediately out of their holes, and they rushed over, repeatedly asking what had happened.
Xianxian shot me a glance and smirked, "It's nothing, keep digging!"
"Fairy, what was that sound just now?" Snow Princess stared at me in confusion. It was obvious that the sound came from me; I understood!
"It's nothing, someone's stomach is growling, haha~" Someone laughed shamelessly, their laughter more piercing than Little Black's!
I felt a headache coming on and lowered my head, wishing I could squash this little Black Bug! I had warned it long ago that unless we were in The Dead, it shouldn't make ghostly noises without my command. Yet here it was, forgetting my words as soon as it came out!
Little Black looked at me with an innocent face, its plaintive voice echoing in my mind: "Master, the aura here is so strong; there are some powerful things! I... I can't handle them..."
"I didn't expect you to fight!" I glared at it. What are you pretending for?
Even so, I couldn't really bully a little fat bug. So I sighed and silently asked: Can you find the exact location of that thing?
Yes! Absolutely!
Little Black nodded vigorously, looking at me with a flattering expression.
I couldn't help but laugh; it truly was just a child.
After thinking for a moment, I raised my head and said to Xianxian with irritation, "Get up and get to work. We don't have time to waste here."
"What's wrong? Do you know the route now?" Xianxian asked lazily.
I smirked, feeling proud, and replied, "I can't say I'm a hundred percent sure, but I at least have a good grasp of it!"
Xianxian understood and immediately stood up, preparing to head into the Tomb Hole. Suddenly, Little Black's voice rang out: "Master, I sense a very powerful aura not far away! It seems like someone is fighting; let's go take a look!"
I was taken aback and quickly said to Xianxian, "Let them out, right now." Without looking back, I ran towards the direction pointed out by Little Black!
Behind me, Xianxian shouted, and two more auras appeared, followed by three more. I ran ahead quickly, feeling an ominous premonition. Could the fight that Little Black mentioned involve Fu Song? Did Fu Song encounter the Mountain Ghost?
Thinking of this made me run even faster. The closer I got, the stronger the aura became, pressing down on my chest until I could hardly breathe.
In the distance, I saw a black figure being knocked away and crashing hard against a tree before falling heavily to the ground. Then, another deep blue figure was lifted into the air...
I stared intently at the massive creature before me. Its enormous body was at least three or four meters tall, covered in red and black. Its blood-red eyes resembled two large lanterns, radiating a strong bloodlust! Its teeth were sharp like those of a crocodile! Its huge mouth was slightly open, dripping with foul-smelling saliva; it could only be described with one word—disgusting!
Is this the Mountain Ghost!?
The person in mid-air was Fu Song, while the one who crashed into the tree was Lime!
Xianxian and I exchanged glances and understood each other's thoughts. Almost simultaneously, we drew our guns and aimed for the head of what appeared to be the Mountain Ghost. The Mountain Ghost let out a thunderous roar that echoed loudly!
