"Okay, I'm not teasing you anymore." He cleared his throat and casually asked, "So from what you're saying, I disappeared for a long time?"
I was about to say yes, but then I thought for a moment. Although there’s no distinction between day and night here, it doesn’t seem like it’s been very long. So I replied, "Actually, not really long. Just a day or two... maybe."
"Tch, I thought it was longer!" He scoffed and arrogantly said, "I probably just fell asleep."
Huh? Fell asleep??? I felt like I was going to spit blood... Indeed, I should avoid taking him too seriously; otherwise, I'd definitely end up in a terrible situation.
"Fengfeng, This Lord didn’t realize you had this hobby." Xianxian suddenly said.
"Huh?" I glanced at him and asked in confusion, "What hobby?"
Xianxian showed that half-smile again and teasingly laughed, "Making faces and smiling while frowning all the way. Are you possessed by a ghost? Do you need help?"
I was about to say no when I caught a glimpse of the smile in his eyes. In the next second, I realized he was just messing with me again. Seeing his expression made it clear he had already guessed what was going on in my mind. So I firmly declined, saying, "No need to trouble you, Xianxian!"
"Hehe, we're brothers; this is what I should do. Come on!" Saying that, he actually reached out his hand toward me. I quickly dodged to the side and noticed Lime was staring blankly. It seemed he wasn't just daydreaming; his eyes weren't focused ahead. Ever since he talked with the skeleton and the person inside the Crystal Coffin, Lime's mood had been low. The cold aura emanating from him made him feel even more unapproachable than before. One could only imagine how heavy his thoughts were.
So after avoiding Xianxian's grasp, I directly patted Lime on the shoulder and softly asked, "Is there anything we can help you with? Just tell me; I'll definitely help you all the way!"
Lime stared at me in shock, mouth opening and closing, finally shaking his head lightly and saying, "We can't escape this."
His gaze was very serious and determined, with a hint of something else that I didn't recognize at the time. It wasn't until after that incident that I realized it was regret! It was pain!
"What is there to escape from?" Xianxian said nonchalantly, hands in his pockets, a smirk on his face. "We've already tasted blood; we have to escape even if we can't."
Unexpectedly, after Xianxian finished speaking, Lime stopped in his tracks and looked at him for a while before saying, "You really shouldn't be seeking this secret!"
"What do you know?" Xianxian asked, staring back at Lime.
The atmosphere grew heavier at that moment. I watched the two of them closely; Lime still had a blank expression, and Xianxian continued, "I know you don't trust me and don't see me as a brother, but I absolutely won't stop. You know this is beyond my control now."
Lime stared into Xianxian's eyes for a moment, seemingly trying to confirm something. After a brief silence, he said, "If I didn't trust you, I wouldn't have brought you here." With that, he turned and walked away.
"Wait... did he just say he trusts me? Did I hear that wrong?" Xianxian asked in surprise as he rubbed his ears.
I patted his shoulder and assured him, "Don't worry; you didn't mishear." After saying that, I continued walking along the wall.
"Forget it; actually, This Lord knows he trusts me because he trusts you," Xianxian said behind me.
As we walked along the mountainside surrounded by large patches of Lycoris, the wall was on our left while the red Lycoris flowers were on our right. A faint scent wafted from the blossoms—neither fragrant nor unpleasant, just indescribable.
The further we went, the dimmer the light became. I lost track of time as we walked until we finally stopped to rest. In this underground space where sunlight never reached, my sense of time had completely vanished. After eating some Compressed Biscuit, I unknowingly leaned against the wall and fell asleep.
"Lime, I really want to know why you chose Fengfeng?"
When I groggily woke up, I heard Xianxian's voice. I kept my eyes closed and continued to listen in my dazed state; it was better than trying to wake up fully.
Lime didn't answer but instead asked back, "What about you?"
"Me?" Xianxian's voice carried a lazy tone mixed with a hint of bitterness.
Lime replied indifferently, "They won't let you off." He added, "Because of your betrayal, they will keep an even closer eye on Feng Zi's every move."
"Then I'm truly in trouble... although he's been targeted for a long time," Xianxian said lazily.
"You can still back out now, Xia..." Before Lime could finish speaking, I heard Xianxian's gritted voice: "Stop! I told you I won't back down! Give it up, Lime, I will never let you have your way with them!"
I initially thought their relationship was just a typical rivalry between Tomb Raiders, but listening to their dialogue made it seem like they had known each other for a long time, and their relationship was quite deep. This was interesting!
Seeing that they weren't going to continue their conversation, I stretched lazily and said, "I heard everything you two said. Come on, brothers, it's time to confess!"
"What did you hear?" Xianxian asked me with a calm smile, showing no signs of the embarrassment one would expect from being caught.
"You two have known each other for a long time," I said, my gaze shifting between the two of them confidently.
Xianxian didn't deny it and readily admitted, "That's right."
"Good to know," I nodded and continued to ask, "Since when have you known each other?" It was impossible for me not to be curious about this.
Xianxian held out her hands and counted on her fingers, saying, "Well, I think it's been over ten years."
Over ten years!? I was surprised and asked, "Why didn't I hear you mention this before?" I had thought they only knew each other for a year or so; I never expected it to be so long...
"What's there to talk about?" Xianxian rolled her eyes and said casually, "We just met a few times when we were kids; I'm not that familiar with This Lord!"
