"We're surrounded!"
The Terracotta Warrior in front suddenly moved, blocking our way with its sword. The situation was already dire, and now the Terracotta Warriors in front and on both sides had "come back to life." We three had no way out!
"Oh no, what do we do now?" I was genuinely anxious. We couldn't fight our way through, nor could we escape. We were so close to the truth, just one step away from understanding the secret of immortality, yet we could only watch helplessly as we were surrounded with no way to get past!
We stood back to back, vigilantly watching the encroaching Terracotta Warriors. A chilling breeze swept over us. I knew that unless something unexpected happened, there was no way for the three of us to break through!
"Let's find a point and charge out!" Xianxian said, his tone no longer casual as usual. I could sense his heightened vigilance.
"Charge out?" I asked, knowing it was a foolish question.
"We have to try!" Xianxian paused for a moment and then turned to Lime. "What do you think, Lime?"
Lime responded with a sound of agreement, but where should we charge out from? Our escape route was shrinking rapidly. Sweat dripped from my forehead to my chin, the cold sensation making me shiver. Just then, Lime shouted "Run!" and I felt the support behind me vanish instantly. I turned around and braced myself as I followed them forward. In front of us, the Terracotta Warriors raised their Ghost Head Blades, the aura emanating from the blades was chillingly oppressive!
"Who dares trespass in this forbidden place?"
Suddenly, an icy wind blew from behind, followed by the words From Hell Comes Six Words. It was heavy and ancient, as if it had traveled through millennia—cold and devoid of warmth!
My steps froze instantly; I gasped and nearly fell. Lime and Xianxian, who were running ahead, also stopped. Almost simultaneously, the surrounding Terracotta Warriors froze as well. Time seemed to stop at that moment; everything became still, leaving only the sound of our heartbeats.
I stiffly turned around and saw a tattered skeleton standing motionless about two or three meters away from us, leaning on a Ghostly Face Staff. Its pitch-black hollow eyes were fixed on us; despite having no eyes, it sent chills down my spine. Its aura was so frigid it felt like a hellish demon; a powerful presence filled the air, making it hard for me to breathe. Behind it stood rows of Terracotta Warriors, perfectly aligned and ready to charge at any moment.
"This..." I was stunned and nudged Xianxian with my elbow. Was that skeleton just speaking?
Xianxian did not answer me but instead stepped beside me and asked the skeleton, "Who are you?"
The skeleton coldly scoffed and replied, "You little thief from Tomb Raiding have no right to know."
"You!" Xianxian was furious, pointing at it and about to speak when the skeleton changed its tone and said, "However, you are the first group of guests. I want to know what reason you have for me not to kill you."
"The reason is simple." Lime stepped forward calmly and walked in front of me and Xianxian.
"Oh?" The skeleton slightly turned its head to look at Lemon, indicating for him to continue. Lime calmly said, "Because... I know who you are." With that, he removed his Gas Mask.
"You know who I am?" The skeleton suddenly burst into laughter, its voice booming and unsettling. Once it finished laughing, it looked at us with disdain; yes, I could feel its contempt even without Eyeballs. "Those who know who I am are all dead! Kid, how old are you... You!" The skeleton was suddenly startled, pointing at Lime and exclaiming, "It's you!"
Lime remained silent, tacitly acknowledging it.
I was completely bewildered. It seemed that Lime really knew this skeleton! But one had been dead for over two thousand years while the other looked to be in his twenties—how could they possibly know each other? Could it be...
Could it be that Lime has Immortality!!!
Shock! Shock! Compared to the fact that the skeleton could speak, this realization hit me like a thunderbolt!
No, as soon as this thought crossed my mind, I automatically dismissed it. No matter how you looked at it, Lime didn’t seem like an ancient monster who had lived for thousands of years. Although his aura did resemble it somewhat, was Immortality really a thing? No, I still didn't believe it; I would continue to observe...
Unexpectedly, the skeleton laughed maniacally and said, "You really came, hahaha..." Then its figure became fainter and fainter, its voice growing more ethereal until it completely disappeared...
What on earth is going on!? I was instantly thrown into confusion...
"Lime, I felt you were hiding something before, but I never expected today would truly open my eyes!" Xianxian said with a deep smile on her lips.
However, Lime once again ignored us, putting on the Gas Mask and turning back towards the center. I was about to remind him that there were still numerous Terracotta Warriors around that needed to be dealt with, but upon closer inspection, I was left speechless. Strangely enough, ever since that skeleton suddenly appeared, the surrounding Terracotta Warriors had become motionless. Could it be that he was controlling these Terracotta Warriors all along?
As I pondered this, the surrounding Terracotta Warriors returned to their original state, standing still as if everything we had seen before was merely an illusion... But I chose to believe that what had just happened was real, more real than pearls! After all, I had been slashed a few times; although the wounds weren't deep and the bleeding had stopped, the pain was not something that could vanish in an instant. Therefore, my mind was quite clear!
Once all the Terracotta Warriors resumed their original stance, we quickly approached the center. After passing through the last two Terracotta Warriors, the space before us suddenly opened up. It was then that I realized we had taken a wrong turn! The path ahead was the correct route leading to the Mercury Pool! Turning slightly, I clearly saw ahead under the Glowing Pearl's Radiance, a Crystal Coffin quietly floating on the Mercury lake. On either side of this path were rows of Iron Trees and Silver Flowers, luxurious yet solemn! The height of the Iron Trees and Silver Flowers matched that of the surrounding Terracotta Warriors, which is why we hadn't noticed them amidst the pile of Terracotta Warriors earlier.
Xianxian stood silently beside me, his expression somewhat gloomy; I couldn't tell what he was thinking. Seeing this, I helplessly patted his shoulder and quietly asked, "Are you okay?"
Xianxian shook his head, looking deeply at me before sighing, "I'm fine. Let's go."
"Alright," I nodded. I didn't understand what exactly caused Xianxian to sigh like that, but I felt something might happen.
"Hey, this..." When we reached the end of the path, I stopped in front of a one-meter-high stone pillar. Atop it rested a black disk with a half-meter diameter, featuring a compass needle and a series of concentric circles in its center. Oh my! An Ancient Compass! This was my first thought upon seeing it; each circle represented an understanding of a certain level of information about the cosmic system according to ancient Chinese beliefs. I never expected to see it here.
Xianxian also curiously stopped and showed interest, saying, "This Demon Clan is quite remarkable. Not only can they measure feng shui, but I think they can even predict the future."
"Could it be they already calculated our arrival today?" Remembering what the skeleton had said earlier made me doubt.
"Who knows? You think so?" Xianxian replied while nudging Lime with his elbow.
Lime merely cast a deep glance at the Ancient Compass, without lingering any longer before walking away. We exchanged a few more glances before quickly following behind him.
