"There are many empty coffins inside..." Lime said.
Empty coffins? I felt that momentary sense of disappearance return, but I still couldn't remember what it was. Why were there so many of these Black Crystals that ward off evil here? Coffins aside, I had seen many places along the way with walls or floors made of Black Crystal!
"Why are there so many empty coffins?" Xianxian couldn't help but ask.
Both of us looked at Lime, hoping he could provide an answer. I believed in my subconscious that Lime must know why, but I wondered why Xianxian trusted Lime so much. Perhaps it was because Lime never lies... right?
Lime stopped walking and gazed steadily at the surrounding coffins. His expression remained calm, exuding a cool detachment from the world. It seemed like he was looking far back in time or perhaps just lost in thought. Xianxian and I exchanged glances, not wanting to disturb him. After a few seconds, Lime finally said lightly, "For some people."
"Some people?" My heart skipped a beat, and the strange feeling from before suddenly made sense. I had thought of this possibility too, but my mind had automatically denied it before it could take shape because deep down, I believed it was impossible! Preparing so many coffins, so many empty ones—was it for some living people? And would those people someday return to lie in these coffins? Huh, it felt a bit absurd, yet I couldn't help but believe it. Coupled with Lime's words, my curiosity grew stronger, so I asked with confusion, "Why are they prepared for people?"
Lime looked at me calmly, his Jet Black brows barely furrowing. In his indifferent gaze, I seemed to see a hint of struggle. Just when I thought he was about to tell us, he sighed softly and ultimately chose not to share. He glanced at both me and Xianxian before turning away and saying lightly as he walked, "You shouldn't know."
"Hey, hey... what do you mean we shouldn't know!" Xianxian exploded at once, tugging at my sleeve in dissatisfaction. "Look at what he's saying! Here I was hoping to bury the hatchet and be good brothers with him, but this guy is just too ungrateful! If he doesn't want to tell us, fine, but why say we shouldn't know? If he just said he didn't know, I'd feel better about it! Fengfeng, do you get it? It's his attitude of looking down on everything and being too lazy to care that really annoys me!"
Hahaha... Xianxian is such a character; I couldn't help but stifle a laugh. I should have recognized Lime's personality the first time I saw him. What could you do if someone didn't like you? If they ignored you, you might not even be able to fight back! Just accept it! I patted Xianxian on the shoulder and smiled helplessly. However, Lime definitely had secrets—and big ones at that!
"Hey, what are you laughing at?" Xianxian shot me an annoyed look and warned, "Fengfeng, let me tell you—if you start learning from that icy mountain face over there, I'll be the first to not let you off! I'll make sure you can't get back up!"
"Alright, alright, I got it!" I looked at Xianxian speechlessly; this person could really ramble on. What icy mountain face? Was it really okay to say such things so openly? But Xianxian didn't care; seeing that he had successfully lectured me made him forget about the earlier frustration with Lime. He pulled me aside and whispered in my ear, "By the way, don't you want to ask him about that matter?" He pointed ahead at Lime who was walking away.
That matter... The moment I saw Xianxian's expression, I knew what he was referring to. Just as I was about to ask, I shook my head instead. Even if I asked now, what difference would it make? Would Lime honestly tell us? I thought, unless it rained red from the sky, Lime would definitely look at you calmly, making you feel uneasy...
"What’s wrong?" Xianxian noticed my shake of the head and was about to inquire, but then he changed his words, "Do you think he won't tell us?"
"What do you think?" I didn't answer but instead responded with a laugh.
Xianxian let out a deep breath and said unhappily, "Look at you, following him around like a lost puppy, believing everything he says. You're just one step away from building a golden statue to worship him. But him? I don't think he considers you a true brother!" Xianxian's voice intentionally rose a bit as he pointedly looked at Lime's back.
I knew Xianxian was saying this on purpose for Lime to hear and that he was trying to stand up for us both, deliberately provoking Lime. However, true to his name, Lime remained unfazed by Xianxian's taunts and continued walking forward without missing a beat or saying a word.
Seeing that Xianxian wanted to say more, I quickly pulled him back and shook my head, whispering, "Don't impose what you wouldn't want on others. I think he must have his difficulties; let's take it slow." After all, the three of us had known each other for less than a month. Although we got along well, some things really couldn't be rushed! Moreover, some matters were quite important! Even I... hadn't shared my secret with either of them...
It wasn't that I didn't trust them; it was just that whether anyone would believe these things was uncertain. Even I had no clue about them. What good would it do to speak of them? Besides danger, there was only danger. Some things could only be revealed when the timing was right to truly have their effect and purpose!

He resembled a spoiled rich kid; on the surface, he appeared glamorous and carefree with an easygoing personality as if lacking organization or discipline. However, at critical moments, he could be reliable and reassuring... It was precisely because of this kind of person that I found him more dependable than Divine Hand or Song A!
Our psychology teacher once said that it's better to have an openly flamboyant friend than a secretly reserved one!
Because often, those who are openly flirtatious are more reliable than those who are secretly so!
And Xianxian is that kind of openly flirtatious person. Of course, it’s also true that sometimes they act pretentious... (As long as everyone knows this in their hearts, just don’t say it in front of Xianxian~~)
