The further I walked towards Xianxian's direction, the dimmer the surroundings became, shrouded in a gray haze that seemed to lower the temperature of the air. Rubbing my shriveled stomach, I realized I had been eating sporadically over the past few days, and it was growling with hunger. Sigh, if only I had a space ring! I could store a dozen or twenty pounds of Compressed Biscuits, beef, and dozens of barrels of clean water! Well, here I am daydreaming again... 0

Although my mind was wandering, I quickly noticed that Xianxian had suddenly stopped. He didn't turn around but stood still with his back to me. I took a few steps forward and cautiously asked, "What's wrong?" Could it be that he saw a Bloodsucker Spider...? 0

Xianxian didn't answer but raised his arm. I walked up beside him and followed his pointing direction. My heart sank when I looked; there was no path ahead! There was simply no way forward! 0

"Did we go the wrong way?" I asked. 0

Xianxian shook his head and said, "No, there's no mistake. The mark I carved is still here. Look, the path is right in front; it can't be wrong!" He pointed to the wall beside him, and indeed, I saw an arrow pointing forward. 0

After a moment of silence, I hesitantly asked, "Could it have been... altered by someone?" 0

"Altered?" Xianxian frowned, seemingly deep in thought. Suddenly, something occurred to me, and I hurriedly said, "Isn't there still a half-person here?" 0

"You mean—Shara!" Xianxian's frown deepened as he said, "That is indeed possible. If that's the case, we're in trouble..." 0

Just as I was about to suggest turning back, a rustling sound suddenly echoed around us. The noise was faint but genuinely alarming. Xianxian and I exchanged glances and saw surprise in each other's eyes—oh no, we fell into a trap! 0

"Run!" Xianxian exclaimed before swiftly turning back to flee. I immediately followed suit. Xianxian wasn't running fast; I knew he was looking for marks. So while running, I kept an eye on the walls for any signs or markings. Ahead was another fork in the path; Xianxian ran straight past it without turning. I didn't think much of it at first, but after a few steps, something felt off. Calling out to Xianxian, I turned back; I thought I saw something at that fork. 0

"I saw the real mark I left behind! Why did you stop?" Xianxian asked anxiously from behind me. 0

I didn't answer him but quickly walked to the corner, and sure enough, I saw a messy character for "wood" carved on the wall. The carving was somewhat shallow, indicating it had been there for a long time. 0

"Isn't this the mark we saw earlier?" Xianxian said, stroking his chin, his brows furrowed in a somewhat conflicted manner, perhaps contemplating which way to go. After all, one side was marked by us, while the other was left by those before us... The chances were fifty-fifty; it all depended on how we chose. 0

"Let's go this way." After taking one last look at the messy character for "wood," I headed to the right. While the place Xianxian mentioned could lead us out, who could guarantee that the next intersection's mark hadn't been tampered with? So this time, I wanted to follow my instincts. Xianxian didn't say anything and quietly followed behind me. His footsteps were very light; if I didn't listen closely, I wouldn't have heard him at all. But I knew he was right behind me, simply because of that trust and his faint breathing. 0

As we moved forward, the corridor became narrower, and the light dimmer. My intuition told me we were getting further away from that eerie place. Perhaps there was an exit ahead; it just felt too easy this time. Why did it feel somewhat unreal...? 0

"Fengfeng, run!" Just as I was thinking this, Xianxian suddenly shouted. I turned back to look at him in a daze, but before I could see clearly, he grabbed my arm and quickly pulled me forward. However, in that hurried glance, I saw a gray figure standing not far behind us. The figure wasn't standing upright but hunched with its shoulders raised slightly. Against a backdrop of blood-red waves, it stood out so vividly and eerily... 0

Shara! 0

Seeing that silhouette triggered an immediate reaction in my mind: Shara! That sea of red? Was it blood hair? No! It was different! Although I didn't look closely, the blood-red surrounding Shara wasn't blood hair. Just from that one glance, I clearly saw waves of rapidly surging red that looked nothing like the blood hair I'd seen before; it resembled some kind of crawling creature—Bloodsucker Spider? Confused, I turned back to take another look; there were countless fist-sized crawling creatures. Fuck! It really was a damn Bloodsucker Spider! 0

Xianxian had mentioned that these Bloodsucker Spiders were half red and half black; now this vast expanse of blood-red made me wonder what was going on! 0

The corridor had narrowed down to just enough space for one person to walk side by side. Behind us, large swarms of Bloodsucker Spiders surged toward us like a tidal wave; the ground and walls were completely overtaken by black and red, pouring in like a flood! Xianxian and I could only run forward with all our might; if we fell behind even slightly, we would end up as nothing but bones! 0

"Fengfeng, it's getting hard to move ahead," Xianxian said while running. 0

Hard to move? I tilted my head to look ahead; most of my view was blocked by Xianxian's body, so I could only see the wall... To my surprise, the path ahead had become so narrow that it was almost invisible! Well, given how hard it was for us to run now, it seemed like we would soon reach a dead end! 0

"How about we climb up?" Although climbing would be slower and make it easier for the Bloodsucker Spiders to catch up, we didn't have many options left! 0

"Alright," Xianxian said, using her hands and feet to push against the walls on either side as she began to climb up. Almost at the same moment, I jumped up as well. A few seconds later, below us was a sea of blood, with barely any visible footholds. It was hard to imagine what would happen if I hesitated for even a moment... 0

Since the walls on both sides were quite close together and the distance just right, we climbed quickly. But no matter how fast we climbed, could we match the speed of the Bloodsucker Spiders? The answer was obviously no! 0

As I saw the red below slowly creeping closer, almost reaching my feet, I hurriedly took off my clothes and asked Xianxian, "Do you have a lighter?" 0

"I do," Xianxian replied. Seeing me take off my clothes, she quickly pulled a lighter from her pocket and tossed it to me. In that brief moment, several long and sharp claws had already appeared on my shoes! With no other choice, I stomped my feet desperately. Just as one foot came down, another spider quickly climbed up. Seeing the Bloodsucker Spider extending its sharp fangs towards me, I swung the burning clothes downwards in a frenzy. There is no animal that isn't afraid of fire; even these Bloodsucker Spiders, which had lived underground their whole lives without seeing fire, hesitated after their initial rush. 0

As I swung the burning clothes while climbing up, I noticed pairs of pitch-black eyes below flickering with red flames. Yet even this could not conceal the cold, venomous gazes directed at me! 0

The clothes burned quickly, and with my constant waving, I could see that the Bloodsucker Spiders, which had been halted but were still surging forward, were about to swarm me. I felt goosebumps all over; my back was already soaked with sweat. However, my speed in climbing with one hand was painfully slow; I truly felt overwhelmed! 0

"Grab me! There's a way out!" Just as the fire began to burn my fingers, I suddenly heard Xianxian's voice. My anxious heart settled in an instant, especially when I heard her mention a way out. Without hesitation, I threw the nearly burnt clothes down into the swarm of Bloodsucker Spiders below and then pushed off hard with my feet to grab onto a hand reaching down from above. At the same time, that hand exerted all its strength to pull me up. The last flicker of flame was instantly extinguished in the sea of blood as I managed to climb up in that brief moment. 0
