"Back to the past, or reaching the future!?" Wang Yi and others looked at me in shock.
"Yes." I nodded, suddenly recalling a post I had seen before, and I gave an example: "For instance, if sleeping only takes one minute, then the things we accomplish in such a day would be equivalent to what normally takes 1440 days. Now, if we only need one second of sleep? We could complete what normally takes 86400 days in just one day! Following this logic, if our working speed approaches Light Speed, then our lives would be effectively extended infinitely, which is what many people seek—immortality!!!"
"Then according to what you said earlier, are we currently in Four-Dimensional Space!? Can we all achieve immortality!?" a young man asked again.
I shook my head. "I only said that if the Penrose Staircase truly exists, it could only exist within Four-Dimensional Space. I never said this place is a small Four-Dimensional Space. Moreover, even if one could achieve immortality in Four-Dimensional Space, you can't stay there forever; eventually, you have to come out, and then immortality wouldn't mean anything."
"Besides, didn't you all think it was caused by a ghost covering us before? Now that I think about it, this seems more acceptable. After all..." After all, if it were a ghost covering us, we might still have a chance to appear again. But if we accidentally entered Four-Dimensional Space, we would truly be at a dead end!
I didn't say the last sentence out loud; I didn't want to discourage them or let myself feel despair. Besides, all of this was just a hypothesis, wasn't it? Maybe it was just a ghost covering us; thoughts about the Four-Dimensional World were merely fanciful ideas!
"Even if this isn't Four-Dimensional Space, how can we enter it?"
"Yeah, yeah! Does entering really mean immortality?" A glimmer of greed flashed in everyone's eyes. I frowned and explained objectively: "Adding time to three dimensions creates Four-Dimensional Space. We usually say we are in three-dimensional space because of the irreversibility of time. However, if you can control time, then you've entered."
"What would we see if we, who are in the three-dimensional world, entered Four-Dimensional Space?"
Seeing their excitement growing, I glanced at Xianxian for help. This wasn't my issue; it really wasn't my issue! I just mentioned the Penrose Staircase; how did things suddenly shift to Four-Dimensional Space?
Xianxian smirked mischievously and finally shot me a look that said 'You brought this trouble upon yourself; you deal with it!'
She rolled her eyes at him disdainfully. When I first mentioned this matter, why didn't you stop me? Instead, you eagerly participated, which led to the current uncontrollable situation.
"Although I admit our boss Xianxian is quite handsome, can you, a grown man, stop flirting right in front of us? Just answer the question already!" I knew they were teasing on purpose, but I couldn't help but feel nauseated and said irritably, "What else can you see? Can't you just search it online yourselves?"
"Big brother, are you messing with us?" Wang Yi immediately expressed his dissatisfaction, and the others quickly chimed in: "You need internet access to search! It's just a little joke; don't take it out on that big guy Wang Yi."
"Yeah, yeah, don't take it personally." Wang Yi scratched his head, smiling innocently, but the greedy glint in his eyes showed no signs of fading; instead, it grew stronger.
I knew that whenever the topic of "longevity" came up, or even a hint of a chance for it, they would never let it go easily. Besides, I wasn't that stingy. After adjusting my thoughts, I continued: "If you enter Four-Dimensional Space, even the most securely closed safe can be viewed entirely from one 'side.' Not only that, but you can also see how every screw inside is coupled!"
"You can see your own muscles, your bones, and the blood flowing through your veins as if you were being dissected. However, strangely enough, even though the blood flows right before your eyes, it won't spill out. All walls in the world are meaningless to you because as long as you wish to, you can completely bypass them from another 'side'!"
"This is simply amazing!"
Seeing their shocked and delighted expressions as if they wanted to rush into Four-Dimensional Space immediately, I had to deliver a harsh reality check to prevent them from becoming overly excited and delusional. So I smirked and said, "Of course, all of this is relative. Currently, even the scientific community cannot perceive the existence of Four-Dimensional Space. Moreover, don't forget that we live in a three-dimensional world; even if Four-Dimensional Space truly exists, it should be within the universe! So if you really want to get in there, just board a manned spacecraft and soar into space! I believe that with your willpower, one day your dreams will come true!"
"Hehehe..." Xianxian suddenly chuckled lightly from the side. Standing up from the steps and brushing off nonexistent dust from his pants, he leisurely said, "Feng Zi is right; just think about Four-Dimensional Space in your heads and don't take it seriously. It's surprising that you've encountered so many strange things while stealing; instead of daydreaming here, it's better to find a way out quickly."
After Xianxian's words, everyone's expressions fell. Their previous excitement and enthusiasm instantly turned into disappointment. But this really didn't seem to concern me.
"And you," Xianxian said lightly while looking at me. A smile lingered on his lips, but there seemed to be no joy in his eyes—only an emotion I couldn't comprehend.
I could only look at Xianxian innocently and thought to myself: please ignore me; I'm just someone responsible for answering questions...
"Do you think this wall can be broken through?"
"Why not give it a try and see!"
"Alright." As soon as the words left one person's mouth, a sharp striking sound followed by a dull echo reached my ears, making my eardrums feel slightly numb. Turning my head, I saw Wang Yi staring at the wall with a conflicted and disappointed expression, holding a sharp Hoe.
Although the light was dim, I could clearly see that there were no signs of cracks on the wall following his gaze. The force Wang Yi had just used must have been tremendous; one could tell just from the sound. Yet, the wall showed no signs of even a tiny fissure, which was undeniably psychologically stressful!
"It's getting late; everyone should rest now. Feng Zi and I will take the first watch, and the others follow the usual routine," Xianxian commanded decisively. Everyone nodded in agreement and began to organize their sleeping areas. Although the steps were narrow, it was better than not resting at all. Plus, we had just eaten enough while talking, so it was indeed time to sleep.
