“Feng Zi, do you know why your Uncle and Second Uncle's family all died?” I was taken aback, looking at him in silence. The Divine Hand continued, “Because they were too clever for their own good! Did they think that no one knew what they were doing behind the scenes? Ha, how foolish!”
“What... what do you know?” Like a deflated balloon, this matter was an eternal pain in my heart. My Uncle and Second Uncle's families all died in an accident while traveling at sea. How could I believe such a melodramatic plot from a novel? So the most important thing for me now was to stay calm. It was clearly not easy to extract information from the Divine Hand.
The Divine Hand did not answer my question and regained his composure in an instant, saying, “Give me the key, and I will spare your life.”
“If I give you the key, you tell me who the murderer of my relatives is!” Clenching my fists tightly, the hatred in my heart almost erupted. My kind Uncle and Aunt, my adorable cousin who was only eight years old and had just begun to blossom but had withered away too soon. And Second Uncle, although he had a flamboyant personality and was somewhat unreliable, he had taken good care of me since childhood. Their deaths ended my naive and ignorant university life.
“Do you think you are qualified to negotiate with me?” The Divine Hand scoffed, clearly disdainful of negotiating with me.
Looking at the guns all pointed at me, I gritted my teeth and slowly raised my hand holding the key, reluctantly asking, “How do I know that giving you the key won’t get me killed afterwards?”
“You have no choice,” the Divine Hand said coldly.
Indeed, I had no choice. Slowly opening my palm, the Evil Bird stepped forward and roughly snatched the Black Key from me. As he took it away, he provocatively glared at me. I bitterly smiled inside, unwillingly watching the key being toyed with in the Divine Hand's grasp.
“Get lost.” The Evil Bird laughed at me, his contemptuous gaze making me want to punch him! Clenching my fists tightly, I reminded myself to stay calm; revenge is a dish best served cold. Next time, I'll figure out how to deal with him! I kept telling myself to remain composed at that moment, but the Evil Bird seemed insufferable as he continued to insult me from behind: “What a pathetic loser! Do you really think Master Qing can recognize someone like you as a friend? Who knows how he begged and cried for him? Hahaha! It seems the Feng Family is full of losers.”
Hearing this, I finally couldn't hold back anymore. I rushed over and punched the Evil Bird in the face. Although my punch caught him off guard, he still reflexively leaned back. My fist merely grazed his nose. In anger, I kicked him again; unexpectedly, he fell to the ground. Not giving him time to react, I jumped on top of him and started throwing punches at his face.
The Evil Bird screamed a few times before suddenly twisting my body over. When I got back up, he kicked me in the stomach. Ignoring the sharp pain, I charged at him desperately. The Evil Bird was stronger than me; each punch felt like being hit by a hammer. Yet I grew more courageous with each fight; at that moment, it felt like all the blood in my body was boiling. This feeling was exhilarating and made me forget about the pain completely.
Evil Bird flashed a hint of surprise in his eyes, sneering as he hit me, "I didn't expect you to be so hidden, little brother."
Hidden my ass! I glared at him angrily; this was self-defense. However, I was also somewhat surprised by my quick reaction. Normally, I would never be able to defeat this guy, but now I was giving him a run for his money. Just as Evil Bird was about to get serious and try to kill me, Divine Hand suddenly grabbed both of our wrists and said coldly, "That's enough." After that, he glanced at me. I glared back at him; although I couldn't see his eyes, I couldn't lose this momentum!
"Keep an eye on him; don't let him escape." Divine Hand released our hands and addressed Evil Bird. Evil Bird looked reluctant but could only nod. Seeing him so frustrated put me in an unexpectedly good mood. I shot him a glare and then walked over to sit under a large tree.
As soon as I sat down, I grimaced and rubbed my waist. Although I didn't gain anything from this fight and it was quite miserable for me, I still felt happy. It seemed I had great potential for martial arts; I should practice more when I have the chance. Who knows, maybe I could become the next Invincible East! Haha, just as I imagined such a glorious future, Evil Bird suddenly plopped down beside me. I glanced at him, and he glared at me fiercely, saying, "What are you looking at?"
"Yeah," I replied with a broad smile.
Just when I thought Evil Bird would rush over to hit me, he suddenly rolled his eyes at me in disgust and said, "What a lunatic!"
With a snort, I couldn't be bothered to pay attention to him anymore. Now that I had a moment to rest, I felt the intense soreness and pain all over my body, so I closed my eyes to relax.
Last time it was Xianxian, this time it was Divine Hand. They clearly knew my dad, but these people were unfamiliar to me. Were they related to the forces behind Song A? There was no point in thinking about it now; it would only waste unnecessary brain cells. What intrigued me most was my emergency responses. Every time there was great danger, my skills seemed to improve suddenly. It happened last time in the tomb and again during this fight—it felt like there was another person living inside me.
Startled by this realization, how could I have such an unreliable thought? Hadn't I been living well for nineteen years? Why did such chaotic ideas come to mind now? Shaking my head, I deliberately pushed myself not to think too deeply about it and unknowingly fell asleep.
In my dreams, I vaguely saw a smiling face that looked exactly like mine but with a somewhat frivolous smile. However, I was too tired to care.
"Wake up." My thigh was kicked by someone, jolting me awake. When I opened my eyes, Divine Hand and the others had already packed up their belongings. The campfire was still emitting white smoke; it seemed they had already eaten. Damn it! Why didn't they wake me up for meals? I shot a glare at Evil Bird, who provocatively smiled back at me before urging me to hurry up.
Holding my grumbling stomach and seeing Evil Bird's gloating expression made me wish I could just disappear into the ground. This guy really is better off unseen! Although saving face is important, one shouldn't torture themselves either. So, I reached out to Evil Bird and said, "Give me back my backpack!" They had taken my backpack last night; although there wasn't much food inside, it was better than nothing. Besides, the stuff originally belonged to me—it's only right that I get it back!
I thought he wouldn't give it to me, but to my surprise, he scoffed and tossed the backpack at me, not forgetting to say some sarcastic remarks: "These worthless things, I wouldn't even look at them. Seeing you looking so pitiful, I'll just give them to you."
"This was originally mine!" Although I knew he was doing this on purpose to provoke me, I couldn't stand his arrogant expression, so I shot him a disdainful glare.
